""For my second interview, I interviewed the lovely Valentina of Anxiety Disorder.
Brandy: How long have you been a musician and how did you become one?
Valentina: I discovered electronic music some time ago but it wasn't until the beginning of this year that I started making music. Something in my life happened and I decided to put my rage in the music. I knew Alex (.:I.S.K:. from Portugal) and I understood he could be the perfect "partner" for this strong project so we began to work together. I don't want to say I'm a musician. I have a lot of things to learn about it. I can say that I have the will to start, to work seriously and to give all of myself!
Brandy: How did Anxiety Disorder get started?
Valentina: The project, born at the beginning of 2008, is a product of the collaboration between Alex and me. This collaboration had its birthing point when I wrote lyrics and recorded guest vocals on Aktiv[E|H]ate's song "Star Struck", an Alex project, under the name .:V.P.G:.
Brandy: You call Anxiety Disorder porno industrial. How would you describe this genre?
Valentina: Me and Alex decided to call our genre "porno industrial" joking on the fact that our music is a sort of "sonorous orgasm, a union of sensual voices to strong impact lyrics where anger, obsession and erotism are melted to create a catchy project". That's a strong definition, don't you think?
Brandy: What inspires you most when writing music/lyrics?
Valentina: Well, absolutely my life and I wrote lyrics that people can interpret how they want and at the same time understand what I want to say.
Brandy: Is there a particular message you try to get across in your music?
Valentina: Sure! Behind madness there's will to expression. Society can't help us so we have to dream and be creative. Be mad, express yourself and don't stop dreaming!
Brandy: With Alex living in Portugal, do you write your music together via the internet? If so, can you explain your writing process?
Valentina: Yes, for now the only obstacle is the distance between me and Alex. I live in Italy and him in Portugal.. but thanks to WWW all is more simple. I know some bands say that "this is not a good way to work and it is unprofessional" but I think that's not true. If you are motivated you can do well and also work in that way! For sure we'll start to meet and make our work complete and bring it to a maximum level. I write lyrics then I speak with Alex about it and he's the mind of music. Then we try together to melt it all to obtain a good result.
Brandy: What has been the best and worst things about being a musician?
Valentina: The best thing? Well, there are a lot of great things. For me it is the idea to travel because I love go abroad! I love Germany and I often go there. I saw a lot of places but my will to explore new situations is becoming bigger day by day. The worst thing... I think there are a lot in the music world but I'm sure I'll be strong! I don't feel like a star, I only want to bring my ideas all around the world.
Brandy: What things in life are you most passionate about?
Valentina: Like I said before, travelling. I like to discover the world around me.
Brandy: Do you think it's any easier or more difficult to be a female musician? If so, why?
Valentina: Sure that's difficult and men don't understand it. They only say "you are female so that's easier. You are beautiful so you'll have no problems." and so on. Well, I think you can be a beautiful girl and also talented! I'm a pretty girl. I don't wanna be hypocritical but I also have the will of make and go on! I hope people will also find me talented. I'll try my best! I want to express all I have inside and I have too many things!
Brandy: What bands/artists have inspired you most?
Valentina: Hocico inspired me! All the times I was down they gave me the strength to go on. I think they are the best but with that I don't want to exclude all the bands I love and all my friends inside that I admire. I think an artist has to take all the best in every band. There there are a lot of great bands around us! We only have to pay more attention to what they want to express. I really hope our messages will arrive too.
Brandy: What do you most want people to know about you?
Valentina: I'm a simple girl inside but I like to laugh and smile with others. I always try to be good and funny at the same time. Do you understand what I mean? I am what I am and people can say what they want. I'll never change! Now I'm stronger than before. Can I say that I love to take photos and I adore pets? ;-) I'm a sort of "paparazzo" but I only want to have some memories of my life. I think pets are our best friends and we have to respect them. About my studies I always say I'm an archaeologist. I love to discover past. I have a degree in medieval archaeology and I'm proud of it ;-) It's so difficult to find a job, though! That's me!
Brandy: As a person with an Anxiety Disorder, what do you think is the most important thing for people to know and understand about it?
Valentina: Well, I'm not crazy. I like to say I'm a "psycho guapa", I think my real anxiety disorder is the fact that I live a life that I don't want and I'm fighting to make something new. Also, maybe I need to realize my dreams. I want to say to all the people who have anxiety disorders: "don't lose your heart, don't take too many medicinals. The real care is inside you and you'll find it soon. Be strong, always!"
