Category: Parties and Nightlife
Hello
I just looked out of the window, and it's snowing! I have a friend in Australia who has never seen snow, and sitting here now I find that a hard concept to grasp. Brrrr.
So we come to the end of the year-again. Where on Earth did the time go to? The months have just flown past us, and I feel slightly cheated if I'm honest. Someone changed the scenery when my back was turned and now it's snowing when it ought only to be summer. Or something. But not Christmas time, anyway. Still too much to do!
So if you are in Glasgow or nearby, we are having a Christmas Party at The Admiral Bar on Waterloo St this coming Wednesday night, the 23rd December. Also playing is RM Hubbert (who will be selling his beautiful new record and book. All hand-bound and featuring illustrations and prose from some of his closest friends), Burnt Island and Olympic Swimmers as well as us of course. Davey can't make this show so instead we have asked Kim Moore from Zoey Van Goey to join us for some songs and lovely it's sounding, too! Jonny is playing guitar and drums at the same time, it's a wonderful thing. Also, Dave Gow of Sons And Daughters/Make Love will be playing Christmas tunes for us all and there'll be a raffle, possibly live pass the parcel (maybe, if we can figure out how to start and stop at the same time) and mince pies.
We're starting at 7pm and will run till 1 am so please come down and have a nice time with us all! Any questions, just ask. £5 on the door
For those not attending, may I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and also extend a massive thankyou if you've bought Seven Roads, The Face or both records. You have made us very happy!
Look out for shows in the new year, there'll be plenty
Jxx

Hello! How's it going? If you're in the U.K, I hope you're safe and dry. The floods are crazy. I went to see 2012 the other night-fricking amazing! Has anyone else seen? My friend's a geologist and even she was impressed, though that might have been more to do with the sexy Russian pilot. Just wanted to let you know that we'll be having a Christmas party in Glasgow on the 23rd December at The Admiral Bar on Waterloo St. It's going to consist of slightly Christmas-themed live sets from us, RM Hubbert, Burnt Island and Olympic Swimmers, mince pies, prizes and music to dance/sway/cry/pass-out/drink to courtesy of our guest D.J, Sons And Daughters' Dave Gow. There's also a 1am licence so plenty of time to make merry. Doors are likely to be 7.30pm and we'll be asking £5 on the door. Keep in mind the fact that you might win terrible prizes though so it'll all good value, in the spirit of good will to all men-except for the following:
3 Customer services-total bastards people who jump the queue in traffic jams Asus laptops and the people who "fix" such things Rip-off merchants in general
If you want to add anyone to this list, please let me know and I'll happily oblige.
We'll also be announcing more shows for next year very soon-in the process of planning a European tour so that's very exciting! More details shortly....

Hello! How are you?
We're just recovering after our sudden burst of activity surrounding the release of the album, it's all gone very well and the shows were great! I've been busily running back and forth from the post office, stuffing envelopes with orders from the online shop and writing notes to go inside them, that sort of thing! I really enjoy it, actually. Something about the task appeals to my not so very often seen sense of order or something. Other than that, I've been fighting my need to hibernate-usually around this time of year I get the urge to either hibernate or migrate. Not much chance of a migration this year, unfortunately so i guess it's hibernation. If only! I hate the cold, and I hate Christmas. Bah. Anyway, if you want to keep me busy on my morning trip to the post office, you can order your copy of Seven Roads here from the online shop:
http://www.deadlightrecords.bigcartel.com/ Or see what other options are available (Itunes, U.S online store, Entangled Records etc) here:
http://www.strikethecolours.com/shop.htm Ok, back to business. We will be appearing live in session tomorrow night, the 21st October on Vic Galloway's Radio 1 show. It'll be a full band session of 4 songs, the first of which we'll be playing shortly after the show goes live at midnight. Craig B will also be joining us for this session. For more information and the listen-again facility, go here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/vicgalloway/ And this Saturday, the 24th we will be playing live as part of the Oxjam Festival Glasgow. We will once again be playing on the same bill as Zoey Van Goey and a bunch of other great bands, at Sloans in a line-up concocted by The Skinny magazine. We are due onstage at 10.20pm and you can find out all the relevent ticket info and other stuff concerning the festival here:
http://www.theskinny.co.uk/article/97433-scottish-rag-announces-oxjam-2009-stageWe are featured in the current Best Of Myspace Podcast (no 68) which you can download (or is it upload?) here:
http://www.bestofmyspace.co.uk/I believe you can also vote for us to be played on NME Radio by visiting the above link.
Ok, that's enough links for now! I need to go to rehearsal. I'm going to put some free downloads up shortly on here and on the webite plus announce some more shows so look out.

hello! Well, we went up to Stornoway and had a very exciting time! Sounds In The Grounds was the smallest festival (with the best atmosphere) I've ever attended and it was also my first gig played sitting atop a hay-bale. Big thanks to Innes for having us up and to Jim Lang for learning all the Strike tunes for the occasion.
Whilst there, Jim and I recorded a session for Rapal, which can be listened to again. Follow this link and choose Tues 25th-we're on about an hour into the programme:
And from Itunes here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ viewPodcast?id=292069303
I'm going to be filming the video for Breathing Exercise tomorrow, I'm pretty nervous all told. Not very good with cameras and stuff, and I can't find a single thing to wear even though I have ridiculous amounts of clothing. It will be ready next week! Breathing Exercise will be available for download from Itunes etc from Monday....I'm going to announce all the live dates etc very soon!
