...whalebones were manly and tights were for girls. I remember when a guy could get head in a bathroom stall and when dungarees were made of canvas. I remember when this whole whale business started...it was me and you, Sally, Billy, and Stumpy...it was all just a horrible accident, that turned horribly beautiful. I remember how we used to weep in the morning when the whales entered the harbor, and I remember when we cried ourselves to sleep upon the whale's departure. I remember the good things about whales mostly; how their blubber could keep a lantern lit for hours, how we would whittle their teeth into small treasures that we both could share. These days they tell me that modern whales don't even have teeth anymore. I remember the time we plugged up that whale's blowhole-just to see if we could do it. We laughed so hard that night, I didn't think we'd ever stop. But we did.

Only you and I really knkow what happened... and I know what you're thinking---but you're wrong...I too saw that whale die---and no---it wasn't wrong what you did that night---you just didn't, couldn't possibly have, understand.....whalebone.

Whalebone is ready...enough birthing for now. We are ready to come up from the basement and breath the dirty or clean air and rock and roll.
