I was invited to join the Gertrudes on a stealth mission to capture their music in the condemned sanctuary of a local United church...We were let in by a gentleman whose name may not be spoken. We lit a bunch of candles and the band performed this incredible acoustic take of Hard Water (lyrics written by local farmer Ian Stutt.). Hopefully the beauty of this song will discourage any kind of prosecution for trespassing. I recorded this one myself (well, with the help of various Gertrudes who are very helpful people, generally)

We're coming to Toronto this weekend - one night only - next Friday, the 25th of July, at the Tranzac with Sandro Perri.

Well be dragging along a pile of accordions (yes, plural), a theremin, a trombonist, guitar, banjo, drums, keys, and bass as well as audio artists and experimental noisemakers... nerdgrass is the best moniker I could come up with... although it's also like outerspace ol' timey saloon music from the future past, in some regards.

Sandro Perri is awesome - really nice to be opening for this guy! Check him out if you haven't yet...
