i've started animation classes at SVA and i made this quick 15second helen keller cutout animation.  i wanna say that this is the first thing i've ever animated but that's a lie.

Mayer Hawthorne is definitely one of my favorite new artists this year and I have a huge musical crush on him.  He was on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic radio show on 09.09.09. with his band Mayer Hawthorne and The County to promote his new album, A Strange Arrangement.

He's performing at the Mercury Lounge on Friday October 2nd- tickets are $10, if anyone (peter?) wants to come with me and kathy to see a phenomenal live show. I've seen him and a few other Stones Throw artists dj at the Museum of Natural History in May and he is awesome. you will not be disappointed.

i've been talking about making coq au vin since i got my french oven in december and finally got a chance to make it on sunday. coq au vin is french for "rooster in wine," it's a scrumptious french fricasse of chicken cooked with wine, bacon, mushrooms, baby onions, garlic, herbs and some aromatic vegetables like carrots and onions.
i made this recipe from an awesome cookbook by anne willan, the country cooking of france. i sorta wish this cookbook had more mouth-watering food porny pictures, it still has lots of fun facts and delicious recipes and information about french food.

if you're like me and havent seen this show because you dont have HBO, its called SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH and its increeeEeedibbllee (pretend i sang that last part because THAT'S how good it is).

it's an australian mockumentary set in a public high school created by and starring Chris Lilley, who's fucking brilliant. He plays the 3 protagonists, as described by wikipedia: effeminate and megalomaniac "Director of Performing Arts" Mr G; self-absorbed, privileged teenager Ja'mie King; and disobedient, vulgar Tongan student Jonah Takalua.

i love burgers.
i love burgers so much, i want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant. (30 rock joke)
whenever me and my burger buddy try a new burger joint, we rate it on a scale of 1 to 5. today over brunch, i decided i want to chart the best (and worst) burgers i've eaten.. so i did. and here it is...



Blue 9 is tricky because if it were charted on a separate "Fast food burgers" chart it would have 5 stars. I have yet to find the perfect 5 star burger and i'm very open to suggestions..
