I've been asked a few times lately where to get/buy this track. Personally, I blame Nathan Fake for using it in his recent mix for Allez Allez... Although, he did get full permission to use it however he felt like, I'd still like to raise my broom in a threatening manner in his general direction, since I never get opportunities to do so in real life.
Anyway, I posted the track as an "exclusive download" on Reverbnation so you won't have to pay for it. You only have to assume the position of "a fan". Since you'd be going there because you like the track, you could be classified as a fan anyway, so where's the harm? ;)
Anyway, I got this neat widget from reverbnation that points to it:

..

So, I hope you're ok with me fishing you in as a fan in return for a free track. 'tis the way of the internet, y'know... At least I'm not spamming you with friend requests and constant emails and comments. That's the way of shameless self promoting on the internet, but fortunately I get annoyed by that sort of stuff so I'll be damned if I'll annoy someone else with stuff like that.

I try to tweet once in a while, though...

Well, the new album's finally out and for sale now. I have a buy button and everything:

Fancy that! I also have that button on my profile and my website. You can click it if you want it. ;)
Some of the songs on my profile right now are from the album, so if you like them, you'll like the album!

Oh,
yeah, I've also been trying to update my website. It's getting there,
even though it's not entirely there yet. I have the discography up and
running, though, along with links to the mp3 releases of them (and the
buy me button for the new one), if anyone still hasn't gotten them.
I'll also make buttons for them when I can make more of them, so you
can get them with all the fancy packaging. So, www. 7oi. org . Go on, click it!

I
know everyone's probably getting a lot of these sales pitching
bulletins and mails and whatever. I'm sorry to be adding to the pile,
making myspace even more of spamspace. The thing is, I just want to
sell this album so I can make another one soon. I want to make more
albums, explore more genres, make more instruments and/or feed my
family. I have a dayjob, of course, along with school, but every little
thing counts, especially in this crisis ridden country with it's
collapsing financial system.

So buy my stuff! ;)

I'll
keep reminding you to do so later on, just to add more to the spam.
I'll update the other news below, though. If you'd like other random
news as well, just find my tweet. www. twitter. com/7oi

In other news:
-
The weather in Iceland is shitty at the moment. It can't decide whether
it's supposed to be a snowstorm, raining, or whatever crappy state it
can possibly be in. It agrees with it's policy of being constantly
shitty, though. You have to admire it's persistence in it's shittiness.
-
There are drunk people singing outside my window. I don't know what
song, but the lyrics said something about singing a song. Original, I
know.
- I
need a haircut. I've started to look like a heavy metal/dungeons and
dragons nerdy type. Maybe I should get a leather coat and go all the
way...
- My daughter constantly preaches her gospel of jibberish. Really, I can hardly understand a word she's saying.
-
I'm tired. I shouldn't be awake. The rest of my gang is asleep. Why am
I not asleep. In fact, I think I'm going to sleep right now. Wish me
luck.

Well... It seems that I haven't said much here since the and of april. Time seems to have flown away from me. Sorry for the lack of updates, but now there's a big one!

First of all, I'm releasing a new album in january! How about that? The first proper album since 2003! Of course, I don't take into account the album I gave away as myspace downloads, which I'll come to later.
Now, I decided to complete an album to follow up on some nice publicity I recently got in Japan, where Soup Stock Tokyo have been playing my music in their restaurants along with serving Icelandic lobster soup. More on that (in japanese) can be found in this profile they put up, where you can find links to order the album (in japan) etc.
So, what better opportunity to pull an album out of my sleeve? It's long overdue anyway!
Anyway, I just uploaded a few tracks from the album on my profile here so you can have a listen. If you'd like to order it, you should wait a little bit until I've set that whole thing up. I'm guessing the price will be around $15, although I'm also thinking of making an mp3 release which will be on standard iTunes album price, I guess. That wont have the beautiful album cover that my wife designed, though:

Oh, and If you look on your right, at the bottom of my lengthy 'about' section, you'll find links to my older albums, which I've put up for sale as mp3 releases. They're at quite a few stores now, so they should be easy to find. I've put the production of physical copies of them on hold for now, while I'm smothered in busy times. I hate to keep people waiting forever for the albums, it makes me feel like I'm cheating people out of their money. You can still send me a message if you'd like physical copies and I'll make some more when I have time. You just wont be able to pay for them until they're ready.
But then there's of course an album you don't need to pay for. I noticed that I never put it up for downloading after I put it up on myspace. So I'm going to put up a link in the about section to that album along with posting it here: Lost Under a Pile

But in other news, I've been very busy at school. I just finished working with the student theatre here, taking care of sound and music for them for the play 'The Cherry Orchard' by Anton Chekov. You might have noticed that I also put up one song that I made for that on my profile, so enjoy.
Then I'm just writing my BA essay, and hopefully I'll finish that within this month.

I don't know what more to say at the moment, except for you to go check out the new songs. You might actualy recognize the 'Bad times...', although it's a bit different now in the sense that it's finally complete as I want it to be.

Well, if you made it through this whole post, thanks for reading. I'll soon be updating my webpage with a blog and stuff, so you should keep an eye on that. Although I'll definitely let you guys know when it's ready too.

Also, my birthday was last monday. "Happy birthday to me..."

That's all for now,

Right.

I’m going to do an experiment. In the discography part of my website (http://7oi.org) I’ve posted info on all my released albums so far. Well, that’s not so odd or exciting, only to be expected. The good thing about it is that I also put a paypal link below each album if you want to buy them. Now, the first two albums haven’t been for sale for a long time now, so it’s a bit of a change. I don’t know how long I’ll be having them for sale, as they are quite limited editions and a pain in the arse to make (the cd cases are all handmade and drawn on and in some cases with handwritten track names). Still, I plan on selling them for $10 plus shipping, which just barely covers the cost of making them. What can I say? I’m in it for the pleasure.

Mmmyup. Then I’ve been fine tuning the website a bit. Not a huge difference, but some cute little features added like the ablity to comment on the "news" and software things, and a more fancy animated front page, a better video page and of course the improved discography page which even has a preview of the albums at the bottom.

So, on to other things than making webpages. Think I migth even make music next.

Well, I finally took some minutes to do a website that’s not just excusing the absence of a website. It has stuff on it, music, some software I made, even a useless forum and stuff...

Take a look at it! Here it is!
Thursday, February 21, 2008
Ok, where to start?
First off, I just bought myself a wonderful new gadget for making music. Well, for making music and mostly for performing it. You might have seen one of those somewhere, you might not have. It's not so common, since it's handmade by two people, although they've made some copies of it. What I'm talking about is the monome. Yes, you can find more info on the monome site. I've started programming something for it and soon we'll see results from that. Until then, here's a video of me practicing some monome skills with a pre-existing program made by one of the monome's creator:

My first monome video from 7oi on Vimeo.

In other news, I just finished making a soundtrack for a "horror documentary". That was fun! I only used my horribly detuned ukelin for the music, which all in all sounded like a huge mass of scrap metal. I'll post a sample soon.

Yet more things. I've signed up on amie street. For those of you who don't know what that is (I didn't know before this week) it's a website where artists sell their music. The fun thing is that in the beginning the songs are free, and as more popular they grow, the more they cost, although I think there has to be a limit on how much they can cost. Also, it's a fun user system. They give you credt for sniffing out cool stuff there. If you recommend stuff that's either free or really cheap, they give you both "street cred" and also the difference between the price when you bought the track and how much it is now. So lets say my songs were free, and now they're 15 cents, you've gained 15 cents to buy other songs on there. Pretty neat.
I've posted two albums there so far, my second and third album, and plan on posting the first one in a few minutes, actually. So far the tracks from the other albums are up to 15 cents, so if you want them cheap, get them soon. They're here.

Well ,there's not so much more to say at the moment. I mean, isn't all that enough?

Yup... Signed up for something called reverb nation, which is an online music thing. Makes things easy to manage, I suppose. Don't know much about it yet, though. Check it out:

Sort of like myspace, innit?

I've been playing with putting up a player with all my music, released and unreleased. I've had some progress, although I will have to work more on it. Still, y'all can listen to everything now. Just open up the

7oi player!

Now, to make some sense out of what you see.
The player is pretty straight forward, showing the album cover and all. I got it from this site: http://www.wimpyplayer.com, although I still need to register it. If you double-click an album you see the tracks within and the eject button will bring you back to the list of albums before.
The albums:

1. 0: This album was never released, although I always consider it as my first completed album. Dating from aroun the year 2000, I think.

2. Síngur: My first official release, released in 2001. Sold in around 50-80 copies (didn't keep a good count of it).

3. Allt virðist svo smátt séð héðan frá: Second release, 2002. I didn't have a picture of the case, but it was made out of wood. Sold in similar amounts as "Síngur", but I still have some wood left, so I might put more copies out there sometime.

4. Þið eruð ekki að taka mig mógu bókstaflega: Third and probably most popular release, released in 2003. It's sold in around 200-250 copies and I'm still selling them through the paypal button you can find on my profile! Buy it, silly people that haven't bought it! Those of you who have: You rock!

5. Lost under a pile: This one was never really released when I finished it in 2004, so I went ahead and gave it away for free here on myspace to celebrate the birth of my baby girl.

6. Various other stuff: This part is divided into several sections:
Live sets: pretty self explanatory, isn't it?
Never released: songs that I never felt were either good enough or there wasn't room for them on any album. I sub-divided these into years as well.
Processing: Sketches, songs in the works and other mess. Some might get more worked on, some might become abandoned. Who knows?
School projects: Things I've made in my studies at the composing department of the Icelandic academy of the Arts.
Two parters: These are songs I've been playing around with. You could call them mini albums.

Well, that should be enough explanations.
