When the Lion Came
i saw him in the distance
i thought it was just a cat
i hoped he was on an opposite trail
as i waited there and sat
because i knew things would turn sour
when the lion came
his shape got bigger
and his form was sly
he would arrive any day now
so in the basement i chose to hide
for i knew things would be bad
when the lion came
when he arrived he found me and said hello
no use trying to hide below
he asked if i was smiling for show
i politely answered probably so
said i wanted to be strong
when the lion came
he said i'm here to protect you
from the truths of the world
i said you are just trying to hold on
to keep what you have got
i knew the lion would try to switch things around

she said she loved me
i believed her
but i knew she loved him too
