It's been so long since I sat down and wrote a blog, I could blame it on being so busy but ya all know it's cause I am a lazy drunken bum........ Ok I admit it but I have been a BUSY lazy drunken bum! Honest. No REALLY!!!!!

So much went on over the summer it was unbelievable we celebrated the second DJ Beerman Presents with a night of sleaze at The Old Wharf, caused uproar at Bloodstock with Testicular Exposure and an Immense Beerman POO and saw more live bands that ya can shake a stick at around the UK.

It is a huge pleasure to announce that the second stage at the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival 2010 will be The Top Rock Radio Stage, where we will be showcasing some of our featured artists from the Classic Rock/Classic Metal genre featured on the radio station.

After an amazing festival this year I was really impressed with the quality of bands, friendly atmosphere, excellent facilities and how well run the festival was and really wanted to make Top Rock Radio a part of the next fest, this is a fantastic opportunity for us and the bands who will play.

Ongoing meetings with the festival organisers have led to this exciting announcement and it really is a privilege to be working with such an awesome team.

WOW!!!!!!

Its Tuesday now and I am still buzzing from the very first DJ Beerman Presents at The Old Wharf on Saturday. Since I first went on air as a DJ and started featuring bands on the show it was always a dream to put on a live gig featuring bands we have brought to the airwaves and on Saturday the dream became a reality!!!

Without alot of people the night would never have been possible and the dedication to music by these people is unrivalled so now is my opportunity to offer my horns and gratitude to everyone involved including Black Scorpion Promotions who did all the hard work on the night ensuring everything ran smoothly as ever, if ya havn't been to a BSP gig ya have missed out, the best upcoming artists all for FREE!!!!!!!!!! Hellll Yeahhhhhhh, without Dawn and Ian there simply wouldn't have been a Beerman Presents.

The Old Wharf and The Go Club gain huge Kudos, TOW is the best little venue in Birmingham and Dave & Chelle once again are dedicated to making sure bands from near and far have somewhere to play their music to an excellent crowd.

A special mention has to go to Chris at the venue, his mastery of the sound desk is amazing, I have to say I have never known a better sound in a venue and that includes the huge places I have been to, Chris says he just pushes some buttons but hellll he sure pushes the right buttons for me.

Jack had his work cut out behind the bar on Saturday I tell ya, but as always never phased he kept the beer flowing for all the thirsty punters, I had quite a few of those beers myself and by golly its a damn good pint there.

I also have to say a big thanks to our resident photographers too, Tony from Live In A Dive Photography is the official photographer for Top Rock Radio snapping away all the amazing pics of the bands, a hell of an eye for the right moment his pics will be going up in the next few days. We also had Heather snapping away from Scream Your Heart Out Photography, so great to have the pics to remember the night.

Of course there is one person who I owe everything to, not just the night or the radio show but my sanity and that is the beautiful Mrs J, she is my rock and as I refer to her my Responsible Adult lol, over the last 20 years she has somehow kept me on the straight and narrow and those who know me well will admit that isn't an easy job so my biggest thanks go to you Mrs J!!!!!!!!!

For me planning for the night started way back in December after celebrating my birthday down at The Old Wharf, hearing the sound and seeing how well the bands were put on I knew there and then I had found the home for my Beerman nights, Dawn and Ian loved the idea and  the dates were set, all I had to do was decide on the bands (no easy feat when ya consider the amount of bands we feature on the show) but hellllllll what a line up we had with Third Bullet, R.P.G. The Satin Dolls, Crimes Of Passion and Point Blank Fury.

By Saturday afternoon I was decidedly nervous (strange how I can be so gobby on the radio yet can get so nervous about stuff) I think Dawn and Ian were surprised I was sober when they picked us up, early I will add!!!!!!! and with my butterflies off we went to the venue which was decidedly closed, after much banging on the door and meeting up with the bands it was decided we would have to wait till the doors opened, even Jack had to wait outside but it was a great opportunity to actually talk to the bands and the growing number of people down for the night of revellry. At 6:00 bang on the button the doors opened and it all got a bit hectic for me trying to help set up but really just standing with a bag in my hand and sticking bits of gaffa tape over cables, I was charged with the task of assisting Ian get the stage set up with lights and strobes and the smoke machine which I got to play with *Evil Grin*

Our job complete myself and Ian did the decent thing and got a beer and retired to the smoke room while Dawn pointed the bands in the right direction and made sure everything was set for the night (I think I picked right opting to hide in the smoke room)

It was around this time I got my Knob out

Yep I couldnt help myself and now I think I have the worlds most famous Knob it was well handled and was licked by many there are alot of pics around the net of my Knob.

I will explain, I am a little bit of a magpie and a couple of months ago at TOW the knob on the fire grate was knocked off and me being me I decided to adopt it as The Beermans Knob, being the dirty dirty Beerman I am of course, I have been crudely describing it on the show for a while and that was the debut appearance though I am sure my Knob will be out at many future gigs!!!

Back inside the venue when I saw the turnout my worries vanished and it was so good to see the place so packed, we are talkin heaving with people which sadly is not seen enough at other venues but then where else could ya get such a great line up for FREE??????

I cannot even begin to describe the sets from all the bands, there was a stadium feel in the venue that was filled to the brim with 100 - 120 people, all the bands put on such a fantastic show with huge stage presence and it was great to see the massive crowd there from start to finish, this really was the dream I had and I want to thank all the bands from the bottom of my heart for coming down and giving their time and music to us, all the bands were there for the love of music and there really was an atmosphere I have not seen for many years with the sound thundering out to the masses. ALL GIGS SHOULD BE THAT WAY!!!!

It has to be one of the best gigs I have ever been to and I have seen quite a few, I am still on such a high!!!

Awesome music, an amazing crowd and a fantastic team working together to provide a complete night of ROCK!!

So to finish many many thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the music, many many thanks to all the bands and of course many many thanks to everyone who made the night possible ya all get a huge Hellllllllllllllllllllllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh from The Beerman

Welllllllllllll Helllllllllllllllllllllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

What a year 2008 was, first of all I hope everyone had a fantastic christmas and raised more than a few festive beers, this is my opportunity to wish you all a fantastic 2009.

So much has happened over the last 12 months its crazy, the snowball that is The DJ Beerman Show has grown and grown and 2009 seems to be a year of opportunity to expand on the success of 2008.

First off I have to say thanks all the bands we featured over the last 12 months (well over 200 bands and artists) without the new music and breaking talent we do not have the show that has grown so popular, also many thanks to the dedicated listeners, not only on the live show but those who religiously download the Podcast giving us top popularity in I Tunes, watching the show increase with the listeners and downloads really gives us pride in what we do.

Special thanks have to go to MrsJ, her work on the show is tireless and putting up with me would test the patience of a saint, without her there definately would not be a show, her work with the bands is second to none and when I sound clever with my music knowledge or gig info on air it is usually cause Mrs has told me the info 2 minutes before so a big Helllllllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh to the best Producer any DJ could ask for.

2008 saw many firsts with us bringing loads of world debut plays of new music from artists proving The DJ Beerman Show is the only place to hear new music first!!!!!

2008 also saw the birth of Top Rock Radio, the home of The DJ Beerman Show allowing us to be able to throw an entire station behind supporting the artists we feature and the very first weekly online radio chart decided entirely by listener requests (a feat we are very proud of). We are still learning and evolving but will strive to bring the best listening experience available to the listeners.

There were many memorable events of 2008 and I will indulge myself by sharing some of these with you,

One event that I think will stay with me forever was the VW Festival Leeds, helll sack racing and more beer than a brewery, we got up there and made our way to the VIP camp (thanks to Headliners Voodoo Johnson) so there I was driving along in my little Fiesta but the roads wern't marked very clearly so off I went over the pedestrian walkway with people diving for cover, well it was a shortcut and worked for me before pulling up at "Camp Voodoo". Priorities were important and I had planned well, popping the boot releasing enough camping gear for an Everest assault I knew exactly where the beer was and boy that beer tasted good, beer in hand it was time to work out how to put a tent up, a couple more beers perusing the instructions I was ready to begin and carefully laid down the tent and started pegging much to the belittlement of my children who's tents had been up 10 minutes and looked slightly out of shape but habitable (theres a reason for me mentioning the fact they found it funny I took so long doing my tent) anyways about an hour later I stood back and my temporary dwelling looked just like it did on the box, that deserved another beer!!! I was very proud of my erection (Oh no ya cant pitch a tent without the erection jokes so a good hour was taken discussing the size of each others erections) plenty of barbecue food and more beer before.... The heavens opened, helllllll typical British summer, we had never seen so much rain in our lives, dripping it was time to move to the marquee in the centre of Camp Voodoo for more drinking (in retrospect it wasn't a good idea to drag the camp fire in the marquee but the rain kept putting it out!) wet and innebriated we enjoyed the music and drank till the early hours of the morning before crawling into our tents (I was surprised how warm and dry it was in there and slept like a baby even though I had managed to pull the ligaments in my back) upon waking up I heard complaints from the kids tents (here it comes) and smug mode was engaged when they crawled out of their portable swimming pools, yup in a hasty setting up they had forgotten to put the flap on the top and left a large hole open to all the rain (and they wern't the only ones) Ohhhhhhhhhh Happy days.

Another highlight of 2008 was the Rock Against Child Pornography Concert at The Old Salutation Inn in Nottingham. The RACP Teams dedication and hard work to such a worthy cause is amazing and they sure know how to put on a damn good concert so show em some love here

www.myspace.com/rockagainstchildporno

The RACP Concert led to one of the hardest interviews I have ever had to conduct, emotions were high and I have huge regard for Beth and Carmen, the whole team are golden.

Of course the interviews were not all I had brought home with me from the RACP Concert, after taking a trip down to the 9th century Anglo Saxon Caves in Britains Most Haunted Rock Venue we brought home a rather nasty spirit who thought it would be amusing to wipe the radio databases while we were live on air with the recorded footage taken from the event, 6 days later and back on air I tried to play the footage from the haunted caves again and eerily the track died at exactly the same point each time. It was time to call the experts and I was soon on the phone to Alison over at The Old Sal explaining my predicament, 10 minutes later and fully cleansed everything worked fine but was I leaving it there???????? Oh no not The Beerman. So on the 16th November we returned to The Old Sal and we did not return alone!!! Two of the finest Paranormal Investigators (Alan & Selina), a Medium (Paul) and of course members of The Rock Fraternity namely The Jackal and Isis from Anubis and Kev from Hanging Doll were among the investigation team recruited to discover the frightening truth about the caves. Video footage of our discoveries will be coming very soon!!!!! Prepare to be SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres a link to Haunted Happenings on the Top Rock Radio main page if you are brave enough to enter the caves yourself.

One of the best parts of being a DJ is going to the best shows and events and my excitement was evident when also in November we made our way to the SPiT LiKE THiS launch of their debut album  "We Won't Hurt You (But We Wont Go Away)" Wow what a night it had everything Cake, Burlesque, Comedy, Magic, Air Guitaring and fantastic music. A huge mention at this point to The Silk Stocking Striptease Show and what a show if ya have never had the pleasure of watching entertainment at its best check em out here.

www.myspace.com/silkstockingstriptease

That was definately a night to remember including my debut as a TV Interviewer for OMC TV, I have to say SPiT LiKE THiS were such a pleasure to interview and I think it came out really well gaining plays on many of the top US metal and rock websites with huge acclaim (who would have thought Panty Liners could be so much fun) and then there was the Air Guitar Competition to win Vikki Spits Bass Guitar, now little Dan had his heart set on a bass guitar for Christmas and here was my opportunity to bring him one early so he could ask Santa for another present, so up I went and let rip with my best air guitaring (using the patent Carl Gethin Swivel Finger Power Chord Pose) and yup I won :P. Danny was a very very happy lad on that sunday morning I can tell ya) One day the footage may appear on You Tube ya never know lol.

As far as highlights of 2008 go the ultimate has to be Black Scorpion Promotions Metal Xmas (or The Beermans Birthday Bash as it has become known). This has to rank as one of the best gigs ever, 5 amazing bands supplied the music to a jam packed Old Wharf in Birmingham, it really was a trip back to the old days when venues would be full of sweaty metal heads arm in arm with heads a banging, Dawn and Ian sure know how to put an event on in style and they baked The Beerman an awesome Birthday Cake (a Beer shaped cake of course) and to top it all we set the Guiness World Record for "The Biggest Heavy Metal Morris Dance" (so many drunk rockers waving toilet paper around it was unbelievable Helllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhh) as far as atmospheres go I havn't experience anything like that Saturday in December at The Old Wharf since the 1980's (I think planning for next year, oops this year! is already underway)

Keep ya eyes open for more of Black Scorpion Promotions Events here.

Wow been ages since I got a blog up here and so much has been going on in the odd world of The Beerman.

Why am I writing?? probobly cause I am incapable of speaking due to the fact I have once again The Dreaded Lurghi, yes with the onset of November the dreaded MAN FLU has returned and I cant talk but I can type so hereeeeeee we goooooooooooo.

What an amazing couple of weeks, ya all heard about the brand new OMC TV channel which will be streaming worlwide to every home via the internet so everyone will be able to tune in........

We will start off way back on the 8th of November

Well off The Beerman and his beautiful boss Mrs J went to The Asylum on Saturday 8th November for the SPiT LiKE THiS Album Launch Party armed with more video equipment than ummmm someone with one camera (yes we had TWO) and a tripod, though I havnt managed to upgrade to a clipboard yet so it was the dodgy little beerman interview book that accompanied us.

The staff at The Asylum were as always fantastic allowing us to get in early and make use of the backstage area, the staff there are always amazing though it has to be said its the best run venue I have been to and that is purely down to the entire team!

So there we were backstage with the friendliest strangers we have met, I would like to explain somthing at this point, radio is so different to TV, I have done loads of radio interviews and not been nervous, I meet the bands we drink beer and all slur into a mic... IT WORKS OKAY!!!!!!!! yet when ya bring a Video Camera into the equation things sorta get a bit more professional and welllll pfttttttttttttttttt I aint been trained for professional before so it was entirely new for me.

Anyways SPiT LiKE THiS not only have great music, luckily they are a great bunch of peeps and where the interviewer usually reassures the interviewee the band made a perfect job of reversing this role and nearly had me convinced I could do this HA HA.... I would love to know what they really thought about this very sweaty Beerman they had encountered who started waffling about clipboards. I WANT A DAMN CLIPBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so after the waffling off we went and YESSSSSSSS I actually managed a TV interview with minimal F**K UpS.

Note :- To find out about the interview ya gotta wait I aint spoiling it for ya. Check upcoming OMCTV news

Anyways I was sober and had been through a great interview, all I wanted to do was get to the bar so with huge thanks to SPiT LiKE THiS I got my sweaty hands round my equipment............ (The cameras and such!!!!!!!! GRRRR Such filthy minds ya all got) and packed up the backpack.

Now by this time the amazing performers from The Silk Stockings Striptease Show were in the dressing room preparing for the acts they had  for us during the evening (if ya havnt seen one of their shows ya have to!!!! AWESOME) the problem was people were keeping me talking, the Burlesque Performers were walking round half naked and do ya think I could get my tripod back where it belonged (Yes EQUIPMENT!!! Minds outta the gutter) I am sure that tripod fitted in the bag when I arrived so after alot of puffing and panting I got it in (OHHHHH STOPPPPPPPIT!!!!!) and made my way to the bar where a kindly wench dressed as a nurse took hold of my sack (AND PUT IT BEHIND THE BAR FOR SAFEKEEPING!!!!!!!!!!! will you alll behave please)

Now we could enjoy the nights entertainment, and what a night we had The Decadent Gent as Master of Ceremonies bringing us acts such as Miss Ditzy Diamond and Her Performing Pussy but we started with some great comedy from Al Grant **********BLOODY SLIPPERS INDEED!!!!!!!!!!! those were my good trainers AL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miss Ditzy Diamond has an act not to be missed and I aint gonna spoil it for future audience members but let me say I loved it Helllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhh. Then my night was made with the astounding Angel LaVey Her performance to Rammsteins "Sonne" was amazing, a truely dark twist on Snow White.

It was then time for Hanging Doll, they are a fantastic band from here in Birmingham and how I havn't had them on The DJ Beerman Show before I have no idea. I promise you that will be fixed this Sunday when I will be featuring them, a brilliant set from true quality musicians and Sally's voice is beautiful!! More about Hanging Doll Later in this blog and of course on the show.

We all then disappeard outside for the traditional smoke break rushing back inside for the evenings MAGIC show, now I havnt seen Harry Potter use Breeze Blocks and Nail beds before but I am convinved Al "The Gentleman Geek" Rudge knows his magic (GLASS EATING IS WRONG!!!!!!)

After more awesome Burlesque from the one and only Darkteaser it was time for The Beermn to make a T*AT of himself!!!!!

Now a little background info as to what occured next is necesary here as I have the urge to justify my actions. Anyone who listens to the show (THAT SHOULD BE ALL OF YA!!!!!!!) knows little Danny one of my sons, he had down on his christmas list a bass guitar and Vikki Spit decided to give away a bass guitar on the evening (anyone see a plan coming together in The Beermans mind??) Ifr, just IF I could win that guitar Dan is the happiest kid on earth, I look like a heavy metal Santa arriving in November and he gets to choose another christmas present. The drawback?? ITS AN AIR GUITAR COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!! Now let me explain I have no worries making a fool of myself on radio as thousands know cause I do it every week but doing it in front of hundreds of people on a big stage is a different story, but a quick Jagermeister for courage had me up there with a picture of Dans face in my mind and with Paul Stanley from Kiss (well it looked like him) urging us all on I let rip with my best effort at the air guitar. The competition was tough though (especially from the guy with 1 arm, well he did have 2 arms but one was in plaster) and it came down to the audience to cheer for us one by one, Vikki walked down the line (which of course being shy I was at the end of..... OK OK I wasn't shy I was last up gettin the courage building Jager down me) The audience was going wild and that made the nerves worse there was huge cheering for everyone and then my turn Hellll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh I got a big cheer toooooooo WOW I was in with a chance, more cheering  more indecision and then BLOODY HELLLLLLLL!!!!! I only won it!!!!!!!! The Beerman Is Air Guitar King!!!!!!

Many thanks to everyone cheering and to all the other people up there and everyone who came to congratulate me I tell ya Dans face was a better prize sunday morning when he got that guitar I had tears in my eyes.

After puttin the Bass with My sack it was time for the highlight I had been waiting for. Not having seen SPiT LiKE THiS live before but featuring them on the show so much I was on cloud nine as they went through their set, it was mind blowing, the stage presence and atmosphere made it one of the most memorable gigs I have attended and really deserved by such a great band it was the ultimate finale to not only the album launch of 2008 but an evening that will never be forgotten..............

Never forgotten but helllllllllllllllllll the night wasnt over, as most pubs were closing we made our way to the door to gain the magical wristband!!!!!!!!! It was time for MENTALITY!!!!!!!

I must tell you MENTALITY is by far the best club night you will attend and the beer flowed well that night (AND THE JAGER) helll the mentality is a blog on its own but queuing for that little blue wristband I got chatting to Kev from Hanging Doll not only arranging a feature for next weeks show but also dragging him down the haunted caves at The Old Salutation Inn..........................

Haunted Caves?????????

Tune in Sunday to find out more from 3:00pm GMT

The DJ Beerman Show has gained huge podcast popularity over the past few months and a straw poll has reccommended an increase in Podcast quality.

The Podcast is currently going out to around 3000 unique subscribers each week which means the featured artists are hitting those listeners. Currently to prevent piracy the show is podcasted at a mere 32kbps 1/10 the quality of a cd and 1/4 of the radio broadcast quality.

We have consulted some experts and it is undersood we can provide a much better service to our podcast listeners by upgrading the podcast to up to 96kbps giving an excellent podcast service without compromise to the security of bands tracks which we intend to implement as of this Sunday 2nd November.

Helllllllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh,

After our Recent descent into the 9th century caves at The Old Salutation Inn, Britains Most Haunted Rock Pub we were invited back for a vigil at The Sal with a team of experts.

The footage we recorded on the night of the RACP Concert has been verified by an EVP expert as paranormal and further studies are still taking place to unravel the Mysterious Sounds, Ghostly voices and Unexplained Knocks.

If you missed the original recording hear it here

With our fears justified and our concerns validated The DJ Beerman Show Team will re-enter The caves on the 16th of November for an all night vigil encompassing the ghosts housed not only within the caves but Britains Most Haunted Rock Venue also.
Last time we were there the spirits (and I do not mean the bottles on the top shelf) made it clear we were not welcome and at one point a heavy glass tumbler was thrown from the window of a locked empty office on the first floor of the pub narrowly missing the RACP Team and The Bands outside having a smoke (who was it who said the smoking ban was better for our health???)

The Team from The DJ Beerman Show will not be going alone this time, Helllllll Noooooooooooooo

We have enlisted the  help of not one but two Well Established Paranormal Investigators with all the ghost hunting equipment, night vision cameras, temperature gizmo's, EMF meters dowsing equipment and loads of stuff I don't understand, ya will be able to spot the experts as The Beerman will be hiding behind them!
We are also lucky to have the services of a Reknowned Medium who will join us with no knowledge of where he will be going until his arrival. Add to this the EVP Expert who has been working on the original material with all the audio detection equipment and a Professional Photographer from a well known Rock Magazine.

Bearing in mind The Old Salutation is Britains Most Haunted Rock Venue with hundreds of recorded phenonemon it seemed maybe The Ghosts like Rock Bands so Helll Yeahhhhhhhhh what an opportunity to take along some of our Featured Artists so we have roped in Voodoo Johnson (boy they took some persuading do they know somthing I dont????) and Special Guests Isis and The Jackal from our number one most requested band Anubis (Isis is a bit of a Spiritualist so if I see her running I won't be far behind her!!!)

Of course with all the experts and the musicians I will be bringing along my trusty voice recorder, its not the most technical piece of equipment we will have on the night but it has picked up the ghosts once before and Helllllllllllll Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh of course it will allow me to bring you the footage exclusively on The DJ Beerman Show.

If you cannot wait until we broadcast the new footage from The Old Sal and you have no fear there are a couple of tickets left (these tickets are very limited) to enter The Caves on Halloween!!!!!! The Old Sal have a full night of entertainment and ghost hunting. If you are brave enough to want more info click the link for The Old Sal and tell em The Beerman Sent ya to get scared!!
