Thanks to some last minute rescheduling we will be playing this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest in our hometown of Austin, Texas.  Those in attendance can expect to hear several brand new songs that will appear on our forthcoming third album, which we hope will be released sometime next year.

The Sword will have a song on the soundtrack of the new film Jennifer's Body, which comes out September 18th.  As far as we can tell the movie is about a sexy high school succubus who kills her classmates.

In case you didn't know, we have music in a couple of other films as well.  Acclaimed Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund put one of our songs in his latest film Horsemen, starring Dennis Quaid.  Also the award-winning "Worst Movie of 2007", I Know Who Killed Me, features Lindsay Lohan doing a striptease to "Freya".  It's pretty rad.

The writing process is nearing completion, and demoing will soon commence.  Recording will follow in the Fall with a release as soon as the suits can get it together.  The record will be a concept album centered around an original science fiction narrative.

It seems like they won't make a Guitar Hero game these days without putting The Sword in it.  GH5 is no different and features the song "Maiden, Mother & Crone" from Gods of the Earth.  The new game has tracks by the Beastie Boys, Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Iron Maiden, King Crimson(!), Megadeth, Rush, T.Rex, and Thin Lizzy among others.  Check it...

Jon Bessent of Tonecraft Amp Repair in Austin has crossed the black river.  Our sound and equipment would not be what they are today without him, and we owe him a great debt.  Jon was a staple of the Austin music scene since long before our inception.  He was the nicest, coolest, most enthusiastic repair guy ever.  Nobody in this town can hold a candle to him.  We called him "The Amp Wizard", and if you ever took your gear to him you understand why.  He will be sorely missed.  Jon, wherever you are, as you always used to say, "May the Tone be With You!"

Sword fans of Austin, Sword fans of Houston, we apologize for our long silence.  If you were worried that perhaps we had perished fighting some horrid battle on foreign soil, fear not!  Having defeated the British, the French, the Germans and others we killed before we even knew who they were, we have returned to Texas to share our war spoils with you.  Don't miss these crucial homecoming triumphs.  Who knows, we might even play for you some new lays, chanties, or ballads inspired by our adventures abroad...

We are finally home after almost a year on tour with the mighty Metallica.  It was a crazy and intense nine months, but now it's time to fire up the riff forge once again and start hammering out some new jams.  See you in the fall!

Not only has the world's biggest heavy metal band taken us on the road with them for the past year, but they put us in their video game too!  The new Guitar Hero Metallica features 'The Black River' from Gods of the Earth.
