Welcome to my myspace page!  I am currently the only female DJ on 100.7 WRXQ and I love it!  I take over the airwaves Friday nights/Saturday mornings midnight-5am.  If you can't get the station where you are at, that's okay, you can always listen live at wrxq.com, and as always thanks to Rolando's out in Coal City for helping us out with that.

During my free time I am one of the hosts of WONC's Metal Oxide on 89.1.  That goes every Saturday night/Sunday morning midnight-2am.  Rita and I take you to the Delicately Darker Edge of Metal playing symphonic, gothic, folk, heavy, black and the craziest metal from around the world.  All of you who join Freak in Mokena on Monday nights for Metal Mondays be sure to check out my show and let me know what you think!

Keep it Metal!

So, as many of you know, I recently started an additional job out in Tinley Park.  I started working full time at Andrew High School as a Teacher's Assistant.  I am really happy and excited about this job because it really showed me how much I want to teach.  Since getting the job in March, I have been able to move out and kind of start fresh.

I felt, and still feel bad about leaving most of my friends and family in the West Suburbs.  You guys have been my life-line for years and it's hard now to know that I can't just pop by when I'm in a rut.  Also, I don't have a computer at my place, so I can't keep in touch very well via the internet.  I know that the people who care about me the most will still be very close with me, but at the same time, it's almost like people are slipping through my fingers.

As always, with more responsibility, comes more challenges.  I feel like within these past two months so many people have come and gone it's breaking my heart.  I love meeting new people or getting to know others even more, but at the same time, it's hard to let others go.  Half of me wants to let it happen, the other half wants to fight it till the end.  To those people I haven't been the best of friends with, I'm sorry.  It was never my intention to burn any bridges.  You all have to understand that my personality is very forward and in your face.  I build up a wall so that I don't get hurt in the long run.  But in the end, it always affects me.

For some reason, I'm really struggling to make it on my own emotionally.  And while being out in Tinley Park, I've started to rely on people closer by because I'm so lost out there.  All I want is for things to work out for me, ya know?

Until then, I will continue to be Miss L. in the morning and Raven at night.

So since I'm sitting on my ass at a baby expo, I decided to for once in my life be open.  Since I pretty much hate surveys because they ask dumb questions, I decided to just start typing.  You think you know me, but in reality, you don't. (It's like that old dumb MTV show).

1. First of all, I was named after a hockey player's wife. Why?  My mother was obsessed with Doug Wilson, #24 on the Blackhawks back in the day.  I was supposed to be named Doug, according to her, when I came out a chick she immediately went to his wife's name.  Thanks Mom.

2. Speaking of my crazy mother, she found out she was pregnant with me the day after St. Patricks Day...you know what that means?  Yup, she got wasted on green beer that night.  I found this out last weekend.  She started laughing and told me she was surprised I wasn't retarded.

3. After my parents got divorced, my mom went back to school and I stayed with my Uncle and Aunt and cousins while she was working and schooling.  Thats when I really started to get into music.  Both my Uncle and Aunt were musicians and I like to think that that wore off on me.  My dad was also, so it just kinda fit.

4. The hardest part about staying with my Aunt and Uncle was their oldest daughter, Stephanie, she became my best friend in the world.  She still is.  She lost a battle to cancer before I could tell her that.  Not a day goes by I don't think about her.  I don't think anyone in my family goes a day without thinking about her.

5. I spent the first 4 years of my school career in catholic school on the east side of Chicago.  Annunciata was the name of it.  I had to wear a uniform.  Haha, well that's what they told me.  I was supposed to wear this ugly ass plad dress, I always wore shorts under it, then eventually I switched to the boy's uniforms.  I always also got in trouble.  It started at an early age.  My mom got a phone call in like 1st or 2nd grade saying that I was chasing boys around the playground threatening to kiss them unless they gave me a quarter.  HAHA.  I hope my kids are that awesome!

6. Middle school I had to do community service for demolishing a playground.  My bad.

7. I was introduced to metal in the 7th grade.  My very first album I owned was Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine.  I fell in love.  It helped me through a lot of hard times.

7 1/2.  Why a half? I forgot.  I was banned from Great America for a year when we all got caught stealing.  We had no purses, but 3 of us filled up two 8ft long tables with stuff. Keychains, Teddy bears, t-shirt, cups, mugs, glasses, movies...you name it we took it. That, CARRIE, is worth getting caught for stealing.

8. I have a scar on my right hand from when I played basketball.  My friend and I were pretending to be strippers in the locker room after a game.  We both stood up on the bench and started dancing and, of course, we fell off.  On the way down I slammed my hand against a locker and it was gushing blood pretty bad.  I was half naked and bleeding...not much different from today I guess. Haha.


9. Highschool I met some of my best friends in the world.  Even today, those people are the ones I turn to for everything, no matter what, they are always there.  You know who you are!  I love you guys.

10. I got my heart broken a lot in high school.  Young infatuation.  I know that's all it was, but I still look at those relationships and wonder why I was so upset. 

11. In high school I got an in-school suspension for videotaping in the girl's locker room.  It was so worth it.

12. I also lived in Florida for a year in highschool.  I met some awesome people, most of them, of course, were stoners.  But still fun.

13. I graduated early from Waubonsie Valley.

14. I spent the first 2 years of my college career in Music Education.  I taught for a little while, but after meeting a group of music teachers, I knew that I never EVER wanted to be like that.  I saw a lot of sad things, so I switched to radio.

15. My job now is the best job I have ever had in my life.  I feel lucky to have met and worked with some amazing people.

I hope everyone learned something.

So the first thing I learned was that being 22+4'11+100lbs+a chick= "Honey, I need to see another form of ID" I had to show her like 3 ID's! Plus it doesn't help that I had Black/Blue hair in my liscence, I look way different and no one believes that it's me! Haha, shit.

Second, I learned that Brunzwick Zone charges for refills of Diet Coke. WTF is up with that?! $2 for a damn Diet Coke?!?! There was no alcohol even involved! Rip off. Bullshit!

Third, I learned that Long Island Iced Teas are amazing. The same price as a regular drink, but more alcohol. That's amazing! However, I think the Tequila got to me. Tequila is not my friend at all. Even though it's all mixed it, I know that it is the reason I don't remember most of my night.

Lastly, I learned that when Tina is my bartender at Orazio's, I'm not leaving sober. I think it is her personal goal to get me as wasted as possible as often as possible. Which I guess is a good problem to have.

I swear to God, I'm not an alcoholic...I don't drink before noon.

The past few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster of goods and bads. With this semester coming to an end, I have been going crazy with papers and projects and presentations and bullshit. Not to mention work and keeping up with my TV shows of course(Lost, Heroes, Family Guy). However, I have managed to try and have a good time while still freaking out. I'm supposed to go get another tattoo on Friday and hopefully that will take some of the edge off...nothing like blood and pain to wrap up a week! I know my parents aren't going to be too happy, but it's just a tattoo. And that is if I get it, with the others that are going, I may have to wait. Oh well. To make me happy, finally, information regarding Nightwish has come to my attention and all I can say right now is that they have finally picked a new singer, however, she will not be announced until their first single comes out on May 30th. So we still have a few more weeks of agony, however...there is more news about this band that Rita and I will be revealing on Saturday night. Make sure to tune in to the show!

So this is the second time that I am in the Vagina Monologues at my school.  The play is about 2 weeks away, I'm doing two skits.  The first one is called My Angry Vagina, it's a group one with three other girls (all of which are my height, so it ought to be funny), and the other one is called Reclaiming Cunt.  When I first got the second one, I was little nervous. You have to be very comfortable with yourself in order to do a skit like that.  I'm still nervous about it, but I decided to not back out of it and now all I keep picturing is my mother in the front row yelling at me for cursing.  I know she wouldn't, she didn't last time, but still, I'm gunna say cunt in front of my mom.  Holy shit.  Oh, and by the way, Dad, if you are reading this, please don't tell grandma!  Anyway, the show is the first week in March at North Central, on the 5th, 6th, and 7th.  If you really want to come, let me know and I'll get you more info.  Although, it would be quite awesome if no one came, I would be fine with that!  But keep in mind, this is a show that pushes the limits of your comfort zone when it comes to sexuality.  This show is not intended for the weak stomached.  

So, as you can probably tell by now, I'm totally getting into this whole blog thing. This has been one of the weirdest Valentine's Day ever. After getting up really early to do homework for my class I found out that my class, of course, was cancelled. Downer. Then, Brittany and I decide to get some Panda Express, she pays, Upper! (Thank you by the way Britt, you are a life saver!) Then, as we are enjoying shopping at Toys-R-Us, I get a phone call from one of my bosses that they need me to come in to work, which was okay, except then I had to miss interning, which was a total downer. Then, once at work, shit is bouncing back and forth about going out to that stupid flower store and handing out free shit and flowers and such. Downer again, that was the weirdest thing ever. Then Freak tells me to take a flower for myself "from him", which was an Upper. It's only 8pm, and the night is still young, I know that things are still going to go on during this day...Oh well. Lost better be good or I'm going to be pissed!

I had the EXTREME pleasure of getting to meet Epica on Saturday night!!  We did a recorded interview for Metal Oxide as well as an on-air interview with Simone (Lead Vocals).  I tried my hardest not to act like a stupid fan and to be a professional radio personality but it was VERY hard!  With Epica being one of my favorite bands, there were so many things I wanted to ask and talk to them about, but when the time came, I felt like a kid meeting Santa for the first time.  That was one of the greatest things that I think has ever happen to me, dear GOD I hope I get a chance like that again.
