Current mood:  accomplished
This weekend I played a gig at a Soc Hop up at the Dome Arena in Rochester, NY. I was all greased up with black shoes, tight jeans, a plain black T, and an illegal amount of hair product meant to make me look like Kinike. It was a good gig.

I am getting totally excited for a gig out in San Francisco on November 22, next saturday! We land in San Fran around noon on friday and we are not playing until saturday night so we are heading all over the city. We are also going to hit up Bela Fleck at Yoshi's on November 21st! I have always wanted to go to Yoshi's ever since I bought Pat Martino's live album.

At the beginning of 2008 I set many goals for myself musically, and personally, and I am excited to do it again. Musically I have been taking a look at where the most cash flow and opportunity has been for me. I have met many great musicians in the area over the past year. Through them I have formed many new musical bonds and generated quite a few gigs with these contacts. I also plan on looking at projects that I have started and never completed, and where I should be going in 2009. After an extremely busy year musically it will be a great opportunity for me to figure out what works for me and what doesn't work for me and move forward with another year of knowledge under my fingers. I look forward to a fresh inspiration.

The times try and that is okay.
Thoughts sway and that is okay.
Tensions rise and that is okay.
There is a purpose.

At the end of the plains is the great desire. That hidden potential dormant in your mind is that which is the prana of your desired end. Steps are needed, but just one step at a time allows the quickest means towards this new beginning. How to navigate is the sun, but the light must shine from your dreams. Otherwise desires go unnoticed and alternate endings eclipse your end.

Jazz Tenor Saxophonist Michael Brecker has passed away after a two and a half year bout with Leukemia. Michael gave this world a tremendous amount of very intelligent music. I had the honor of catching him with Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, Roy Haynes, and Terri Lynn Carrington at Symphony Hall in Boston. What a musician!! Check out his CD with McCoy Tyner as well as the disc "Time If Of The Essence." One of the worlds most influencial musicians will be missed from this mind...

Is the distortion pedal fun? Yes

Is the distortion pedal tasteful in the heat of the moment? Yes

Is the distortion pedal full of wierd noises that blow your mind? Yes

Is the distortion pedal helpful in aiding you to play smooth lines and great chords? No

Practice jamming by yourself, with a metronome and with a clean tone. Its just you and a naked guitar. You can't hide behind the distorion. Now your chords have to be colorful and your lines have to be tasteful. Your strumming has to be in superb rhythm and your licks have to get you excited. Practice like this for a few days. Don't turn on your distortion. After a few days turn on your distortion and let it rip! Something will be different...
