No longer do I chase these dreams
or want to just survive

For I have found a better way
to escape and feel alive

For the past few months I have taken a break from producing anymore video projects.

However I have been using the time wisely.

So if anyone is preparing to release a single or EP and are currently looking for artwork please give me a message as I would be very interested in hearing/ collaborating and creating for any projects

Regards

Russell

Back in April I mentioned that the next music video to be produced by British Getaway Films and directed by Russell Lee Ford was to be a very 90's, sexy, grunge performance video for a very cool band set to release their second single.

At the time I couldn't reveal much more than that other than narrow it down a bit and tell you all that they were also playing at the Camden Crawl.
Still reeling from the success of debut single “Is It True That Boys Don’t Cry?” these young upstarts gained strong support at press and radio; featuring in the NMEs 'Top 10 Tracks Of The Week' and grabbing Lauren Laverne’s attention pronouncing them ‘officially my new favourite band!’.

Since then the talented three-piece have become Road To V finalists mentored by The Charlatans from more than 3,000 submissions, had their new single 'The Worthing Song' added to Steve Lamacq’s Rebel Playlist on 6Music, played an impressive 120 gigs and become the first band ever to have been given a residency at the prestigious Club NME at London’s Koko.

Three-piece Bleech hail from London's East End and are fast gaining a reputation for their songwriting skills, gutsy live performances and their melodic, grungy, guitar-led sound reminiscent of Nineties Brit Pop at its best. They band release their second stand-out single 'The Worthing Song' through Billie Records available from August 17th 2009 .

Have a look at the official video below and check out the band on they're myspace

............

Shadowplay

The children they whisper....

The children they fear....

Fear the night coming....

Fear what may appear....

.. ..

Come out of the darkness....

When the lights aren’t about....

Under moonlight in dreamland....

The shadows come out....

.. ..

And as each bedtime comes calling....

The children they know....

That the shadows bring nightmares....

As they come and they go....

.. ..

But the parents they don’t....

Believe what they hear....

They’ve grown up since their dark days....

And forgotten the fear....

.. ..

So how can the children ....

Stop these visits at night....

They could stop eating cheese....

Or even buy a night light....

.. ..

Some children drink coffee....

And try to stop the surprise....

Other use matchsticks....

To keep open their eyes....

.. ..

But I’ve got the secret....

To put an end to the plans....

To make the shadows return....

Play in their own shadowland....

.. ..

I’ll put an end to the scaring....

So all the kids they can dream....

Without fear of waking....

In a wet bed with a scream....

.. ..

So as this bedtime approaches....

I set up my trap....

My parents can’t understand....

Why I’m so eager to nap....

.. ..

And just as each night before....

The shadows come out to play....

But this time I know ....

They will not scare me again....

.. ..

And as the shadow comes closer....

And prepares for his scare....

I hide under my duvet....

Ready to confront my nightmare....

.. ..

And as the terror unleashes....

The shadow comes nearer....

So I throw off my duvet....

Revealing a mirror....

.. ..

My parents are woken....

By the sound of a scream....

And rush into my room....

Expecting me too have had a bad dream....

.. ..

But I just sit on my bed ....

And watch as the shadow retreats....

He views his screaming reflection ....

As I lay under my sheets....

.. ..

But the parents they don’t....

Believe what they witness....

They’d forgotten their dark days....

And dark shadows existed....

.. ..

And now frozen by fear....

The shadows transfixed....

By his own mirror image ....

And the awe it inflicts....

.. ..

He screams at the sight....

I can tell he’s afraid....

By this demon before him....

And the horror portrayed....

.. ..

And then quick as a flash....

The shadow had gone....

He returned to the darkness....

Where shadows belong....

.. ..

My parents apologised....

For not believing my tale....

About the shadows at bedtime....

That make children go pale....

.. ..

And since that very night....

I’ve shared how to deal with your fear....

Stand up to the shadows....

And make them disappear....

.. ..

And now all over the world....

Children sleep easy at night....

Without the shadows to wake them....

Up with a fright....

.. ..

I have grown up from the dark days....

And from the nightmares I learnt....

That if you stand up to your fears....

They will never return....

.. ..

And as I drift off to dreamland....

My Mum whispers goodnight....

Sweet dreams, I love you....

Don’t let the bedbugs bite

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving

I take photographs with love. To me photography is catching a moment which is passing and capturing the memory forever.

Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I believe it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are.

While we're living the dreams we have as children fade away; it's simply evolution

I've never considered myself a writer, even though i do write things. Recently I have spent alot more time writing and putting together ideas. Not for the script or the screen but for paper. The more i read the more i seem to enjoy it. Does this mean I am getting old? I love the way you can make people use their own imagination rather than giving them the visuals and saying this is how it is in my mind so you must see it this way too. I love the thought or someone else reading a description and coming up with their own interpretation.

I have recently been asked if i would be interested in collaborating or directing a few different projects but i feel whether or not you write a project, you have to feel like you wrote it. I mean everything I do, I feel like it's me, however......

What I have realized is that i'm not a very good director-for-hire. That's why early on I'm very firm and say 'Look if you're going to let me do this, then let me do this and i'll do the best i can, my way, but it's not going to help to treat me like you might a director-for-hire because, you know what, i'll do a really lousy job, and we don't want that'. I've always tried to protect myself in that sense, and i'm actually in awe of those directors that could just pick up a project and say ok it's not quite my usual style but i'll do it. This is not for lack of confidence but however I fear that if i was to do this I would not due the project justice and it would be a case of going through the motions. I can't seem to rise above it. I want to keep growing. Everybody wants to stretch. But if i'm not there, if I don't feel right, then i can't fake it too well. I just know i'm not that type of person.

So that's why i won't be taking on anymore projects in the forseeable future.
I feel I can do no more and my drive and enthusiasm is slowly fading away in my current state. I have exhausted all my limitations

At the moment i want to try and make other people enjoy and experience the use of their imagination and escape from their life for a brief moment without me having to pick up a camera show them exactly what to think, but rather lead them in a direction and say ok you work it out from here and tell me what you see.

Thankyou to those of you who have read this and have supported me throughout my time. I am going to go away and complete 'Winter Blues' a set of short stories I have been writing on and off over the past six months

Who knows.....

One day I may find myself back in this situation but preferably I would not find myself alone

My final music video will be released in the coming month and I hope you enjoy this video as much as all the others.

In progress.....

'Winter Blues' is a series of short stories written by Russell Lee Ford.

Inspired by the works of Tim Burton, Edgar Allan Poe and Dr Seuss 'Winter Blues' is a collection of fictional fairytales, myths, fables and folk stories created and set during the low of winter.

For me as a storyteller, 'Winter Blues' is about breaking the codes and conventions by which I have conformed to as I have matured. These stories are about re finding the child like gift of imagination and fantasy that we seem to lose as we grow older

Thanks again for your time and support

Voyage Noir

'The Black Trip' is a dark, oneiric short experimental film Directed by Russell Lee Ford and Produced by British Getaway Films.

The short is in homage to 1950's film noir and the visuals refer to the depiction of dream-like states within films of a femme fatale character conventionally identified with this genre. The Film is soundtracked by Arrows Down and features the Burlesque talent of Miss Betsy Rose

Before you watch this short film I am required to state that if you are sensitive to flashing lights or you are easily aroused then for Health and Safety you probably shouldn't watch it.

The best visuals are sometimes the most simple

So I had a play around with various ideas for this short visualisation, and I found that my original idea w
as the most aesthetically beautiful.

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.

'Lost Soul' is about escaping your life if only for a ninety seconds and not being afraid to lose yourself for a moment of peace.

A soul that see's beauty may sometimes walk alone.

So this is the plan:  As of yet the short is still without a soundtrack
and I am looking to collaborate with an artist/ composer/ band with an original score to accompany the visuals. It should be dark, mysterious yet also beautiful and enaging.

I have had alot of interest, comments and messages and I thank all that have been in touch. Now the visuals are online for you to view have a look I hope this gives you all some inspiration and I look forward to seeing what people come up with.

You can send the tracks to me for consideration at Britishgetaway@yahoo.co.uk

In the end I will only choose one track to eventually use for this film but as this so far seems to be something composers and musicians are interested in I will add another short soon. I guess it's good practice for everyone to keep us all creative. I will be taking applicants for this film for the next two weeks. And the winning soundtrack will be added online with the film on June 15th

So if anyone is interested or has an original peice of music that they believe might work in style and tone please get in touch and send the MP3, MP4 to the email address above.

'Lost Soul'

Wandering and Wondering
Lost and on his own
Tormented by the voices
A Lost Soul walks alone

I am set to release an experimental 2 minute short film titled 'Lost Soul'. The short is based on a quote i found online that really sums up my current state of mind.

"A Soul that see's beauty may sometimes walk alone"

However, I currently do not have a soundtrack and I am looking to collaborate with an artist/ composer/ band with an original score to accompany the visuals. It should be dark, mysterious yet also beautiful and enaging.

"The Most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious"

So if anyone is interested or has an original peice of music that they believe might work in style and tone please give me a message.

I will be putting the visuals online within the next 48 hours

Thanks
