The winner of the contest is technically, Scorn & Baxter.  They suggested Gypsy, and that won at the polls.  However, after one week with this "sweetie", we (Wife, kiddos, cats) went in a different direction based on witnessed actions from the new puppers:

Meet "Miss Chief", pronounced "Mischief". 
Nice little twist on the new "girl" in the household.  Evidently everybody is jealous and are stating that I am spoiling the dog.  I call "BS"!  Everybody knows I am a gruff, mean prick of a bastard, so anything you may hear about me spoiling a dog, making kissy faces or baby talkin', is a damned lie!  I'm still an ass, will always be an ass and no puppy can change that ever!

Thanks to all of you who helped!  I know the naming did not go to the majority vote, but hey, it's America!  Crazy stuff happens when people vote! *snicker*  (Just ask our Halfrican-Irish President, Barry O'bama)

And yes, Scorn can now choose to have $25 donated (in hers & Baxters name) to our local SPCA during the 2009 Mutt Strut (March 7) or receive a $25 gift card to either Petco or Petsmart.

Wooh-boy!  We are a lot closer on a name!
Thanks to everyone for their votes and suggestions!  The field is down to these choices:

I can't call her "Bella", because we have a cat with that name.
"Star" is like car, and we are training her to go to the Truck, Car or Van.  And all of the other contributions had either one or no votes, or the wifey said, "I ain't callin' her that!", on still other choices

Meet "No-Name"
Rescued this week, she is my newest fur-baby.
Almost 11 weeks old, part Chihuahua-part Poodle, all girl.  She was so happy to be rescued and in loving arms, until she realized she was to be a contractor's truck dog.  She does not like early or cold! hehehe
But she survived her first week as a construction pooch, and is working on potty-training.
So I am enlisting the help of me friends and 'netters.  Please help me to pick a good name for said canine.  Nothing ending with "O" (No, go, Joe) or "AD" (rhymes with bad). No more than 3 syllables and it should a "girls" name.  She has owned me for 5 days, so I need a name by Weds. 01-28-09
Below is a list of suggestions.  If your suggestion is chosen, I will either donate $25 to a dog rescue program in your name or if local, will give ye a $25 Petsmart/Petco gift card.  So add a name to be voted on or vote on an existing suggestion in the comments section.

As I reflect on 2008, I can say we had a great year:

Blacks are happy; Obama was elected.

Whites are happy, OJ is in jail.

Democrats are happy; George Bush is leaving office.

Republicans are happy; Democrats might finally quit saying George Bush stole the election.

And all of us are so happy; The election is finally over!

I think 2009 will be even better:
Immediately after his inauguration, Obama will balance the budget, revive the economy, solve the real
estate problem, solve the auto industry problem, solve our gas/alternative energy problem, stop the fires and mudslides in California, ban hurricanes and
tornadoes, stop identity theft, reverse global warming, find Osama, solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, get rid of corruption in government and achieve
world peace . Then on the 7th day, He will rest.


My best wishes for 2009.............and remember:
"The government cannot give to anyone anything that it does not first take from
someone else."

Happy Labor Day!
 
I needs some assistance from me faire'mily!  Several people in our community need some help!
 
 
*Gettin' high* - I need to borrow a tall (18ft or taller) A- frame ladder, so I can help a mother of one of our rennies with some work done on a high ceiling.  I'll do all the repairs, drive to fetch and return, and if needed even throw $20 into it.  Please call me if ya gotta a ladder I can borrow: 281-386-6722
 
*Akt* - Akt has a good shot at a possibble job interview tomorrow, and I can loan him a car for a day, but it is a quick fix. Is there ANYONE who can help Akt this evening or very soon, replace the starter on his ride.  I cannot travel today, as Calypso is very sick. 
 
*Mystic* - Please send some positive energies her way.  She has a lot on her plate, and could use a kind thought or prayer.
 
*Heart* - She could use some positive energies!  And our love & support!
 
*Sandy* - Lester's lil' girl is growing up and trying to get into a cooking school.  Please send some positive energies, as she is applying for financial aid and needs just a bit more to pay her tuition.
 
*Mia & Marcus* - Mia was admitted to the hospital yesterday, and could really use some positive energies!  That leaves Marcus with the 4 children, his job, and running back and forth to the hospital.  Any offered assistance would be greatly appreciated!
 
*Calypso* - Yeah, she has MS, but now she is fighting of this wicked summer bug, w/ her lack of an immune system.  Some positive energies and prayers for her health would be much appreciated!
 
 
Well, that wraps up this weeks begging...LOL!  I love my faire'mily, and the way we come together to assist our friends in need.
 
And I want to say "THANK YOU" to all those who step up and have always stepped up in the past!

Get ready to mark your calanders!!
 
Once again, Queen Mystic and The S.P.C.F are having a benefit for charity! HUZZAH!  This yearly event has really been a hit in the past, and last year they were able to raise a nice sum for The Multiple Sclerosis Society!  And again, the Queen & her court of Fae, are allowing the Rogue Wave & members of the Pirates of Poseidon to help out.  Ah, Faeries & Pirates.....!
 
This year it will be a dinner instead of a breakfast.  No early AM banging pans!  Yay!!!
 
So here is the 411:
 
Your OPENING weekend just got easier! 
No need to plan, cook, clean or take time away from party & events.  Just walk by the chow hut (somewhere between rows 2-4, near the road) and make a cheap contribution and walk away with a plate or 2 of food.  It's that easy!
 
The menu is still being worked out, so look for future posts with more details as TRF approaches.  We just wanted to give everyone a heads up for planning!
