We're playing a roller disco next Thursday (August 6) in London, and it's freeeeeeeeeee! Details below about how to get your tickets. We're on stage at 7:30PM.

x

Hosted in a specially created rink, Nokia Skate Almighty will be taking over the nation’s capital from Wednesday 5th to Sunday 9th August at Potter’s Field, near London’s iconic Tower Bridge. Each day of Skate Almighty will give thousands of skaters the chance to dance and skate to live performances and DJ sets from some of the world’s leading names, including: Calvin harris, Raygun, The Pipettes, Example and Queens of Noize.

The Nokia Skate Almighty rink is open to children and families during the day, encouraging even the youngest Brits to have fun and stay fit on skates. Then after 6.00pm each day, it will be for over 18s only to skate the evening away.

To get skating, individuals simply need to visit http://www.nokiamusic.co.u..k to secure a free ticket for a one-hour skate time slot. Entrance to Nokia Skate Almighty will be via mobile ticket and requires a simple swipe of your mobile phone onsite.

To get everyone in the disco mood, when they sign up they will also receive a Nokia Music Store voucher and PIN code, which allows them to download free tracks from the Nokia Music store.

So, whether you fancy a free one-hour skate with your family or dance all evening with friends, Nokia Skate Almighty has it all this summer. Why not call your skate mates or invite a skate date and get your skates on down to the roller disco.

Hey all!

It feels like it's been forever since we played a gig, and Ali and I were discussing over a beer the other week how much we'd love to play together again ( we did around four years back at Lucky Soul's first ever show and in Tokyo a couple of years back now) and so we decided to get off our arses and do something about it. So, here's our new club night, held at the Lexington on the 11th and 25th of August, called....TECHNICOLOUR!

The first night lineup will be the wonderful Allo Darlin' http://www.myspace.com/allodarlin, the ever beautiful Lucky Soul http://www.myspace.com/luckysoulluckysoul and us! PLUS Martin Rushent, our producer and producer of many a classic records and very very good DJ on the decks!!! It's gonna be great, I can feel it in my bones! Hope you can make it down, it'll be our first proper headline show in a very long time, we've got some new songs to play and a few surprises up our sleeves. See you there and make sure you wear your dancing shoes and a touch of sparkle!

lot's of love

Current mood:  busy
Category: Romance and Relationships

Oh it's been ever so quiet around these parts! The funny thing is, we've twittered about gigs and updated thank yous to our Facebook page so it feels like we've been in touch but perhaps it just isn't enough... and there are seven of us so it takes quite a while for us to get a band blog together, and we've been busy organizing ourselves so perhaps it was too boring to report. Anyway, I'll just throw down my thoughts at this moment in time and hope that we can start some kind of conversation.

How are you doing?

We're holding up just fine, it's been really boring not gigging whilst we're finishing the album but we have a few plans up our sleeves that we've cooked up with some very good friends of ours, a club night perhaps, a residency, I can't go into too much detail but we're hoping for it to be in London and for us to get to play with some great bands quite regularly for a limited period before the end of the summer, sorry, I'm being a little vague but I just don't want to jinx it before we've finalized our plans..

We're sorting out releasing something in the Autumn, we're not final on which song/songs or in which format yet but it's very excited thinking about the prospect of putting new music out there. You have all been so wonderful about our new stuff when we've played it or when you've heard it and so it's just going to be amazing to be able to have something that's been properly recorded for you to hear. I would at this point like to express my sheer gratitude to everyone that's been making positive comments on the new songs, it really is the only thing that has kept us all going is to know that we've got some amazing music that people really want to hear.

What a crazy 18 months it's been! There have been so many changes and quite a few obstacles along the way but I have always felt that it's incredibly important that The Pipettes continues to exist. We're paving our own way, we're trying to make the best pop music we can with the people and the tools that we can get hold of. I can't tell you the amount of times that people have told me to give up on this and perhaps I'm just being pig headed but it just aint happenin! I'm getting to write the best songs that I can, people are playing them with me and I can completely trust that when I hear opinions back from everyone else involved that it's right and that it's the truth. If, I mean WHEN we manage to pull this off guys, it's really going to be worth the wait for all of us, I promise!

Sometimes I come across really nasty stuff that people say about us, I shouldn't look I suppose, I have to admit it's gotten easier over time, but nothing I've read has been by anyone who really knows anything of what is going on in our band, which makes it slightly frustrating, it all comes with making stuff I guess.. I can totally understand that there are people that are still hung up that we have new members but I think it's clear that we are all where we should be by now. Nothing lasts forever unfortunately, and I'm sure there'll be an opportunity to talk about everything that's happened over the past few years at some point but I think that it was always so important that all of us who were involved were given the space to get on with things quietly. And thank you to all who have given Beth and Ani the chance that they deserve! And everything is all speculation until you see us play and hear our album I guess.

Gah! I'm really so, so excited for you to hear the new songs. They're really what I think the greatest pop songs are, heartfelt, funny stories and perfect to dance to and I was listening to the mixes the other day in the sunshine and it made me really, really proud that we've kept going. There is an energy which The Pipettes creates all on it's own somehow, which none of us can really take full credit for and which seems to carry us all forward, to somewhere new!

I hope that you're all enjoying some sunshine!

Lots of love,

Gwenno and The Pipettes

So who's busy this Sunday evening... (apart from The Pipettes of course!)? We are planing to do the best gig we've ever done... ever, you should come along! However If you can't, for some crazy reason, make it to see us play at the Roundhouse at 6:50pm London time as part of the Turning Point festival then fear not for there will be a live stream of the gig and you can find the link here:

http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/turningpoint/

then just go to the 'live stream' section. It's going to be a great day, there are a lot of other people playing too. Hope to see you all there, if not we expect you all to be up and out of your computer chairs dancing along with us!

Love

We just want to apologise for our songs on Myspace being reduced to pointless thirty second snippets of them (except our self-released remix track, we rule). This has nothing to do with us and has happened without our permission. Due to the nature of this and the fact that it's happened to a few other bands with Major Label releases, we are course mumbling that (maybe) this is Major Label activity to get you to buy the track, what with the music industry being what it is. This may not be the case, of course, but irrespective, we are doing all we can to investigate and rectify.

Obviously those tracks are very old now, so you probably have them, or if you don't, it's because you have no idea who we are - and so for you we're trying to get them back to full song-length versions.

Hey,

Hope everyone is good! Just wanted to fill people in on some
things.

Firstly, we've a new Pipette!!!!!! We really want to spill
all the beans, but we're going to do it with a video blog from the studio,
which is even more exciting! I want to blabber on for months about how it's all
gone on and developed but I won't as I couldn't do it justice.

As a result we are once again functioning and able, so guess
what, we're going to play a gig to celebrate! We're delighted to be playing
Wonky Pop at Matter on March 20th with none other than the awesome Tinchy
Stryder. It's going to be more than ace, William Orbit's even DJ'ing!

Whilst it's not a public show we're also going to be playing
for the Princess Caroline of Monaco's Rose Ball. Yes, we can't believe it
either. We're going to the place that houses the most billionaires per square
mile (or something like that) so obviously we're going to fit right in. In
seriousness we're so excited. We've no idea whether we'll be able to take any
photos or anything like that but we're sure hoping we can get some stuff up and
viewable on the website from what is bound to be an amazing night and one we're
really grateful to be a part of.

Hmmm, any more news? We'll be making an appearance at
Brighton's Great Escape festival hopefully, news on that to follow once we've
got details confirmed but apart from that, we'll see you in the studio!
