Corona and SFE have joined forces to organize a beach clean up chosen through the Corona Save The Beach initiative. Internet users voted online and it is Capocotta Beach ( near Rome) in Italy which was selected to be saved!


The cleanup will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 11:00am to 3:30pm.

To participate, go to the Ocean Initiatives website to register.

Another world day?

Yes, another date to be added to your calendar, but this time in bold and blue letters! Like every year since 1992 and Rio’s ecological summit, June 8th, 2009 is devoted to the ocean. The perfect occasion for us all to show that we love it and wish to protect it. Can’t you see how? Surfrider Foundation Europe thought about organizing the following event: a compilation of your photos on a website.
The concept is simple; you get dressed in blue and take a photo of yourself while having the letters WOD or the complete mention of Word Ocean Day visible. Then, you upload the photos onto the Facebook page specially created for the occasion, and for those who are motivated enough, you can join Biarritz Headquarter’s Surfrider Foundation team on June 8th at 6pm at the ‘’Grande Plage’’ in Biarritz for a group photo in order to remind us that ocean is the beginning of life. In parallel, as part of the cross-border project called Mare Urdina, the event will also take place at “La Concha” beach  at the same time in San Sebastian, Spain.
The best photo will be posted on the front page of the website until it is removed by a better one. 
So, one advice: as we do, be creative and go with the flow!



Encore une journée mondiale ?
Oui, une de plus à ajouter à vos calendriers … Mais cette fois-ci en gros et en bleu ! En effet, comme chaque année depuis 1992  et le fameux Sommet de la Terre de Rio, le 8 juin 2009 est consacré à l’Océan. L’occasion parfaite pour nous tous de montrer que nous l’aimons et souhaitons le protéger. Vous ne voyez pas comment ? Surfrider Foundation Europe y a réfléchi pour vous en organisant l’opération suivante: une compilation de vos photos sur un site web et un double événement sur la plage !
Le principe est simple, vous vous habillez en bleu et vous vous prenez en photo en faisant apparaître les lettres JMO ou la mention complète « Journée Mondiale de l’Océan ». Ensuite, vous postez votre ou vos photos sur une page Facebook spécialement créée à l’occasion.
Pour les plus motivés, vous participez à la photographie commune, avec toute l’équipe du siège de Surfrider à Biarritz, organisée le 8 Juin à 18h sur la Grande Plage à Biarritz pour valoriser ensemble le rôle des océans comme source de vie. En parallèle, dans le cadre du projet transfrontalier Mare Urdina l’événement aura lieu à la même heure sur la Plage de la Concha à Saint-Sébastien en Espagne. Alors des deux cotés de la frontière venez nombreux !
La meilleure photo fera la Une du site jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit détrônée. Alors, un conseil : faites comme nous, lâchez-vous et comme on dit, suivez le mouv’!

Surfrider's awareness-raising operation is now extanding all year long! After this year's fourteenth edition, the association has decided to make the cleanups of beaches, lakes and rivers something you can organize any time of the year!

For those who could not participate in the operation during the international ecocitizen weekend of March 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd 2009, you can organize your own cleanup whenever you want!

Les Initiatives Océanes toute l'année!

L'opération de sensibilisation de Surfrider s'étend désormais à l'année! Après la quatorzième édition de cette année, l'association a décidé de rendre les nettoyages de plages, lacs et rivières, une initiative que vous pouvez organiser n'importe quand dans l'année!

Pour ceux qui n'ont pas pu participer au weekend écocitoyen international des 19, 20, 21, 22 Mars 2009, vous pouvez organisez votre propre nettoyage quand vous le voulez!

I raise funds for the organization Surfrider

While we set up laboratories for quality control of coastal waters, we are launching this new laboratory with a pilot project on freshwater. Based in Toulouse, the lab will monitor the bacteriological quality of water in areas of water activities on the major rivers of the French region Midi-Pyrenees, by adopting a holistic view of the water cycle.


Our network monitoring should highlight the problems of contamination and promote the cooperation between local actors in order to solve them. The analysis that we will make throughout the years, will allow us to inform our members, the practice of nautical activities, the general public, local stakeholders and communities on the water quality zones.

We also wish, through this program of local action, promoting a better consideration of the areas of water activities in the framework of the official follow-up as there is no existing law today. See collection

Je collecte pour L'association Surfrider

Alors que nous mettons en place des laboratoires de contrôle de la qualité des eaux littorales, nous lançons avec ce nouveau laboratoire un projet pilote sur les eaux douces. Basé à Toulouse, il surveillera la qualité bactériologique de l'eau des zones d'activités nautiques sur les principaux cours d'eau de la région Midi-Pyrénées, en adoptant une vision globale du cycle de l'eau.

Notre réseau de suivi doit mettre en évidence les problèmes de contamination et favoriser la concertation entre acteurs locaux afin de les résoudre. Les analyses que nous réaliserons tout au long de l'année serviront à informer nos adhérents, les pratiquants d'activités nautiques, le grand public, les acteurs locaux concernés et les collectivités, sur la qualité de l'eau des zones suivies.

Nous souhaitons également, à travers ce programme d'action locale, favoriser une meilleure prise en compte des zones d'activités nautiques dans le cadre des réseaux officiels de suivi car aujourd'hui aucune loi n'existe. Voir la collecte
