Local Science Fiction author and scientist Travis Taylor will be signing copies of his new collaboration with John Ringo, "Claws That Catch", at the Bridge Street Barnes & Noble this Saturday, November 15th, from 11am-2pm. Travis will be signing copies of the new book, as well as many of his other books.

Come out and support a great local author! Make a day of it and come to the NASFA meeting from 6-8 at BookMark.

NASFA, the sponsor of Con*Stellation, will hold its November meeting this Saturday, Nov. 15th, at BookMark bookstore, which is at 11220-J South Memorial Parkway. Meeting starts at 6pm, program between 6:45 and 7:00.

The program at the meeting this month is our annual "White Elephant" auction. No, actual elephants are not likely to be auctioned. The idea is that you bring something (or several) things that you no longer need/want/have room and essentially donate them to the club. They are then auctioned off, and the proceeds go to NASFA/Con*Stellation to help keep things running. Think of it as an auction for garage sale items. Of course, they can be anything, but quirky is certainly fun. You don't have to bring something in order to bid/buy something, but it helps and makes it more fun for everyone!

See ya there!

Con*Stellation XXVII is now a memory...but what a great memory! Thank you to everyone, from artists, LARPers, gamers, authors, scientists, ghost hunters, our guests, our con staff, and everyone else who made Con*Stellation XXVII one of our most successful in recent years! It was a great weekend and a great time to see all of our friends, fans, and family all in one place having a great time. Thanks!

Of course, we have already started preparing for next year's con, which will be 18-20 September, 2009 (a bit earlier than this year). An important part of our planning process, of course, is feedback from you! Please leave a comment to this post and let us know what you thought about the con. What you thought was great, what you thought was not so great, and what you felt we could do better. Your ideas are very important to us and will shape our choices for next year. Any programming, guest, gaming, or other ideas you have...please let us know! Thanks! The Con*Stellation XXVII Staff

P.S. If you'd like to discuss it in person, come to the NASFA meeting this Saturday, Oct. 25th, at BookMark bookstore, which is at 11220-J South Memorial Parkway. Meeting starts at 6pm.

After month's of planning, arranging for guests to visit, hammering out the schedule, getting our great t-shirt artwok, updating the website, wrangling minions, etc. The first day of Con*Stellation week begins with the set up of the Con*Stellation Art Show, which begins with getting the display panels and equipment out of storage.

Each year Con*Stellation has a great artist as our Artist Guest of Honor. This year it is Huntsville native Bill Holbrook, creator of "On the Fast Track", "Kevin and Kell" and other popular comics. In the past we've had many other great artists such as Kinuko Y. Craft, Rowena, Stephen Hickman, Theresa Mather, and David O. Miller (to name just a few).

The Artist Guest of Honor's artwork is exhibited in our Art Show, where you can buy prints or originals. In addition to our visiting Artist(s), artists from around the country send artwork to Con*Stellation for exhibit and sale. You can buy originals, prints, and sometimes one-of-a-kind items created especially for Con*Stellation. This year Bill Holbrook has created some unique artwork for Con*Stellation that will only be available at the con Art Show.

Check out our Art Show web page to learn more about art at Con*Stellation. Be sure to visit the show at Con*Stellation next week, Oct. 17-19. http://www.con-stellation.org

See you there!
