Just a reminder that Yoga for Peace is this Saturday. This is a worldwide event in response to the events of September 11. I will be helping to coordinate the Boston event, which takes place on the Boston Common at Noon. For more info or to sign up, see Yoga for Peace. Hope to see you there!

Time for an update.  I'm starting a new job in Dover NH and for the first time since I moved to Portsmouth in November, I feel like I actually live here.

Fitcorp Prudential (Boston) - June 26 was my last day at the Pru, after 4 years.  I loved this class and it was a hard decision to leave, but it was time.  I appreciate all of the loyal students who I taught and learned from, and hope that you continue with your practice.  The upside is that one of the regulars, Laura Boeker, will take over the class.  This will be her first class, and I'm excited that my leaving will become her first teaching opportunity.  Please go to her class and help her become a fantastic yoga teacher.  I hope to stop by once in a while, and will stay on the sub list.

Atlantic Gymnastics (Dover) - We are now in our second 8-week session, the Summer session, and we're getting lots of newcomers - both to yoga and to the center itself.  Atlantic is a popular gymnastics center that is expanding to yoga and hiphop classes among others.   Come check out a class and see what it's all about.

Wherever you are, check out a yoga class near you to wake up your body and spirit.  Namaste.

PS PLEASE invite your friends to this site.  Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the YogaMichael blog.  Here is the first update!.

Fitcorp Prudential (Boston) - I've been teaching this class for 4 years now, and I enjoy it more every month.  Usually there are 20-30 people, which gives the group a great buzz and allows us to ramp up the heart rate and flow.  The class is open to anyone, even first timers, but we tend to get a lot of regulars - it's been great to watch them progress from week to week.  Lately, I've incorporated more upbeat music with a techno flair - inspired by the Sundara style.  Leftfield and BT (with Tori Amos) have been recent favorites.  I get the feeling that I've started to cross that line where I learn new poses and get excited to have others try them, and they look at me like, Are you serious?  Nevermind though, some of them try, some shake their heads, but hopefully everyone finds inspiration in knowing that there is someplace else to go with their practice. (Unfortunately, I had to find a last minute sub last week, because the 12+ inches of rain caused crazy flooding and stranded me in Portsmouth.  I'm looking forward to getting back to it tomorrow.)

Atlantic Gymnastics (Dover) - This is an exciting new program, the first yoga class at this well known and popular gymnastics center.  Atlantic is a first rate gymnastics center, looking to expand their offerings and open up to the community, and Power Yoga is a great fit.  We are the middle of the first 8 week session, and hopefully the world is spreading.

That's it for now.  Enjoy your practice, as you use your yoga mat to take control of your mind and your body.  Namaste.
