Did I ever tell you about the time I watched a Guinness Beer truck back over and kill a man? No? Oh, well then lets get this party started!

A long time ago, when I was young and hip and very cool and hip and young (you get it), some friends and I jumped in my car and drove three hours up to the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. to watch a punk band called Face to Face play live, which I really still love to this day. We got up there early in the day to get tickets and visit our favorite museum - The Walter Reed Medical Museum, or as we liked to call it "The Deformed Baby Museum" - where everything in there is real and chillin in a jar of formaldehyde.

Anyways, it took us forever to find a damn parking spot outside of the club when we got there, but we finally did and we went to the ticket window to purchase our tickets for the evening. Once that was done we were off for a day of fun. There was a huge Guinness Beer truck double-parked in front of the 9:30 Club, which I am pretty sure was there to deliver beer to the club. A guy that needed to run into a store real quick decided to double park his car too and he walked behind the Guinness truck. The Guinness truck had just started up and was already backing up to try and inch it's way back out into traffic. Now this is a HUGE truck and it is backing up at a rate of MAYBE 2 miles per hour and making that godawful annoying beeping noise as it is doing so and somehow, this guy did not see the truck and did not hear the beeping RIGHT NEXT TO HIM! In a matter of seconds, the truck hit the guy and knocked him down so that his head was perfectly aligned with the tires. Then everything seemed to move in slow motion like out of the Matrix - you saw the truck go up and down like it had backed over a speed bump and you heard people screaming from all directions to the driver to STOP!!! He had no clue what he had done and the back part of this truck was not fully attached to the front, so he did not feel any impact either.

It was too late. He had run over the guy! It all happened in a blink of an eye and it happened 5' in front of us - WE.WERE.IN.SHOCK! The guy's head was flat and there was blood coming out of his ears, so it was pretty obvious that he was killed immediately. The driver was inconconsoleable - he was crying hysterically, and the guys wife, who had been in the car and watched the whole thing happen was in the same state.

We stood there, still in shock until the ambulance and police left. We were kind of confused on how we were supposed to feel at that point. I mean, we drove three hours to have fun, but we ended up watching someone die right in front of us - what do we do? We seriously had this conversation...What do we do? Are we horrible people if we go on about our day like nothing happened, like we did not just watch someone's life end in front of us? That conversation lasted mmmm, about 4 minutes (because we were young, insensitive assholes) and we hopped into the car to go see more messed up crap at the Museum. We came back to the site of the now infamous "Guinness Killing" later that night for our show - and had a blast!

Moral of the Story: If you see a Guinness Beer truck on the street, RUN - DO NOT WALK, as far as you can from the truck. Guinness Beer truck drivers are specially skilled killing animals!!!

Ashton has a Tom & Jerry DVD (Tom & Jerry's Greatest Chases) that he absolutely LOVES. He loves to get out of his bath, and climb into bed and watch it. One of the Tom & Jerry episodes on the DVD is "The Zoot Cat," which is the one where Tom is trying to impress his girlfriend by making a Zoot Suit out of the curtains or a hammock or something and singing to her (it also happens to be the very first episode where Tom speaks and was created back in 1944-FYI).

Well, the song that he sings to her is Solid Seranade: Is you is or Is you ain't (My Baby) by Louis Jordan and Ashton cannot get enough of it. He has been walking around the house all week, acting like he is snapping his fingers to the blues beat and singing, "Is you is or is you ain't ma babay!" over and over again. The first time he did it was at the dinner table and my mom and I looked at each other and just busted out laughing. The boy kills me!!! If you could hear how funny cute it sounds coming out of his little two year old mouth, you would bust out laughing too!

Here is the B.B. King version of the song off his album Let the Good Times Roll: B.B. King plays the music of Louis Jordan. Enjoy! If I can catch a clip of him singing it, I will post it later.

Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby

Did I get your attention? Hmm, Did I? Well that is my two year old son's new favorite word. It is the word that you can hear him constantly mumbling under his breath when something pisses him off. It is the word the he says to his Gammy when she asks him to stop jumping on her furniture. It is the word that he screamed at me this morning at his school - his church school. It is the word that he learned from me.

I am the most awesomist mom in the whole wide world goddammit!

Hear his wonderful mouth in action here as he tries to climb onto something he is not supposed to and is having problems! This is about the third time he said it!

First, Here are some updated pictures on the new family member, Mr. Knox. We will be taking a family trip to pick him up on the 27th and I cannot wait - neither can Kaiden. I am sure that I will be up a few nights while he adjusts to his new life, but it's not like I am not used to that already! You want to give him a big old hug, don't you?

Second, Do you think it was a bad idea to schedule an appointment for some minor plastic surgery on my eye on the same day that I scheduled my first appointment for marriage counseling? I am thinking the counselor immediately felt a little more sorry for me, what do you think? And NOT ONE WORD about the lack of eye makeup in the photo!!!

If you were born in the sixties/seventies than you HAVE to remember when hip hop first made it's way onto the music scene - I am talking about original hip hop, like Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash, KRS-1, etc. Well, XM Radio has this station now called "The Rhyme" and it plays non-stop, commercial free, old school hip hop - around the clock. It is AWESOME!!! I have been listening to this station for weeks now, driving my friends and family crazy.

There is nothing better than driving your kids to the daycare and getting to hear JJ Fad's Supersonic on the way and freaking your kids out because you know all the words to the portion of the song that spells out S.U.P.E.R, or pulling up to the daycare to pick them up with "Flavor Flav is the sun, Public Enemy number one, Gotcha runnin' from the gun (pow), Of a brain that weighs a ton" blaring from your piece of crap stock stereo speakers! It is classic.

I keep calling my friends and blaring it in their voice mail's just to further drive them insane. My husband keeps saying "I thought you hated rap music..." Well, I do hate 50 Cent and Kanye West and the rest of the punk rappers that are around these days, but seriously, who hates some old L.L. Cool J singing "Going back to Cali?" - yeah that is what I thought - NO ONE! So I will continue to drive all my friends and family nuts and I will continue to call my husband at 7:15 am and when he answers and says "What's Up?" I will again answer, "I'll tell you what's up, buddy...The Roof, The Roof, The Roof is on fire!" - Tee Hee.

P.S. Here are those lyrics to that one part of the Supersonic song, in case you need a reminder!

You see, the S is for super, and the U is for unique The P is for perfection and you know that we are freaks The E is for exotic, and the R is for raps So tell those nosy people just to stay the he'll back

What is cuter than the puppy in that picture up there? NOTHING! Isn't he cute? His name is Knox and he is the newest addition to our family. He is an English Bulldog and he was born on Saturday, 07/08/06 via C-Section and was one of nine puppies. We can't wait till he comes to live with us.

Kaiden has asked for a puppy quite a few times, but I am not going to lie...I want him pretty bad too. He has to stay with his mommy for 8 weeks until he can come stay with us, but we can visit him whenever we want until then and we can certainly start spoiling him before he comes home! I am quite sure that he will fit in quite well with our motley crew!

Kaiden and Ethan graduated from Preschool to Kindergarten tonight. They looked ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY adoreable!!! The ceremony brought tears to both mine and Dena's eyes.

It is hard to believe that almost 5 years ago, we were working together and pregnant at the same time with those two little monsters. I hope that we are able to take these same pictures when they are graduating from high school!

Imagine you are driving down the street on the way home from work. You cut through the local trailer park neighborhood to get home quicker, when you happen to look over at one of the driveways and see a dead cat laying there, covered by a dish towel, with a potted plant next to it - a proper burial for any beloved family pet.

What do you do?

You stop your car, get out and take a picture of it to post on your blog, because no one would ever believe that you saw something like that, unless you had the picture to prove it!
