Current mood: full
Hey everyone, Firstly thanks for all the support around the music awards and the stuff that's been happening lately. Appreciate everyone being so kind! We have been pretty busy making several week long trips to Aussie where we are playing showcases and normal shows as well as playing radio boardrooms and other press and promo. Basically doing what it takes to try and build some momentum over there, and the great thing is, "The Letter" is starting to get picked up on radio, we are extremely excited about this. Our focus recently has been rehearsal and we have 6 new songs! They are all an evolution and positive move onwards and upwards from the record and we are stoked, will be playing them at NZ shows that are coming up. We have confirmed Rhythm n Vines on New years as well as Homegrown next year, and there will be further festival/summer type shows to come, so hopefully we can catch you while on holiday somewhere around NZ! Also I hope you have all seen and heard our brand new single "Cavalry" off the album. At the bottom of this message is a Youtube link! We do however have a free all ages show next week at Galatos in Auckland, behind the Studio on K-Road. Its FREE like we said so please bring friends and come along, some other great bands playing including the Brunettes and the Earlybirds! Below is how to get there... Anyway be safe and catch you soon. Peace! Midnight Youth TEXT MYSPACE to the number 8800. Hello to our awesome family of fans! Just firing you all an update as we've had some sweet times and good news come our way over the past few months. We arrived home last week after 5 weeks touring Australia where we hope we made a bunch of new fans. We toured with two awesome bands, Dukes of Windsor and Trial Kennedy, and we got up to plenty of on and off-stage antics in traveling across Queensland, NSW, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania and WA. We drove over 8000kms, got attacked by a flock of angry cockatoos, checked out a porn supermarket, bought fireworks in August, Matt got his Facebook account deleted, heard our song The Letter on Aussie radio for the first time and had 16 people on stage at once for an epic jam. Thanks to everyone who came along to the shows - we'll be back soon for more in September and October, so stay tuned for details! While we were in Oz we got news that we had been nominated for 8 awards at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards and our song The Letter had been made a finalist for a Silver Scroll. Craziness. To have our first release do so well in NZ is just amazing for us, especially since we're babies in this industry (most of the songs on the album were written while most of the band were 18 or 19). This week coming we're traveling to Christchurch to the Silver Scroll awards so stay tuned for the result there - the award is voted for by all of NZ's musicians so it's a huge honour just to make the final five! We also had news that we won a Myspace Music Choice Award for best NZ rock band, which was voted for by you guys, so thank you so so much. We also received the most votes of any NZ artist so we win a myspace promo prize as well - stoked! This is gonna help us out heaps, so we really appreciate your help. Another way you can help us out is by voting for us in the Vodafone People's Choice Award. This is one of the awards given away at the NZ Music Awards, so it's a biggie! Check out our campaign video here:
For details on how to vote for us, head to: https://vmusic.vodafone.co.nz/ Thanks so much again for your support!!! Talk soon M.Y

Hey all,
Has been a while I know...lots has been going on! And all good things!
To start with, we've just returned home from touring our debut album, The Brave Don't Run, around New Zealand. We were totally blown away - the whole tour was pretty much sold out and we had an awesome time! So thank you so much to all who shared in the tour with us!
While we were on tour the album went gold in New Zealand - amazing again. So stoked that people still want to get out and buy records, especially rock music.
Our single All On Our Own has been in the NZ Top 10 for over two months now and has spent seven weeks so far as THE most played song on NZ radio. Take that Eric Hutchinson!
We've just released our next single, Learning To Fall, for which we filmed the music video in New York earlier this year. So look out for that on radio/TV and request it loads!
Our next big adventure is going to be in Australia - we head there in the first week of August to play 23 shows across the country with two awesome bands, Dukes of Windsor and Trial Kennedy. We met up and played a few shows with these guys a few weeks ago in Sydney and Melbourne and were totally impressed - great guys too, so we're pretty excited about that! Our singles and album will be released there over the coming months as well...!
So - thanks so much again for everyone's support and enthusiasm towards the band, we truly appreciate it so much.
Take care and we'll hopefully play some shows to you soon!

Current mood: indescribable
Hey ya’ll!
It’s been a crazy past week or so for us and it’s pretty
much all thanks to you!
Our debut album, The Brave Don’t Run, has entered the NZ
charts at #2 – only beaten by Ronan Keating’s mass Mother’s Day campaign! The
album’s been #1 on iTunes for over a week now and All On Our own is now topping
the iTunes singles chart, so thank you so much!
To go along with that, we’ve now achieved the feat of notching
two Top 20 hits in NZ – this week All On Our own is #9 (first Top 10 hit!) on
the official singles chart, while The Letter re-entered the chart to hit it’s
highest ever spot of #20. All On Our Own is also now the fourth most-played
song on NZ radio – take that Flo Rida!!
This is just the start of a long road of promotion for what
is our baby – The Brave Don’t Run – so please keep spreading the word to
friends and family to go out and buy the album. It would be great to have a NZ
number one album for NZ Music Month – seems such a shame to have Ronan Keating
at the top of the pile right now, so lets knock him off!
First job is to go buy your mothers the album – there’s
plenty of ballads and beauty in there and mothers always want to stay hip with
the times!
We’re going to be announcing a whole bunch of shows across
NZ VERY soon – so stay tuned, these are exciting times for us and we’d love to
share them with you!

Hey all, Time for another update for yas. We've had a busy past month or so with a bunch of cool shows. Highlights for us have been playing with Weta a few weeks back and an awesome Kings Arms show last week. We just want to say thank you again to the Weta guys for letting us play on the same stage as them and see the re-birth of a truly great NZ band. Make sure you check them out over the coming months as they play a bunch more shows round the country. Kings Arms last week was very cool. Thanks to all that came along and supported the bands, was probably the best turnout we've had for a gig there which gave us a good buzz. We've started throwing a few new songs into our sets which is exciting - and weird, considering our first album isn't even out yet! We're constantly having new ideas and should have a whole heap of songs for a follow-up when that time rolls around! VIDEO INTERVIEW Si and I recently did an interview with Stuff.co.nz which is quite a good watch if you've got a few minutes. Thanks to Chris SCHULZ! and Clare Roach for pimping us out! You can watch the lil vid here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/videoplayer/136386a14915.html and the accompanying story is here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/4781249a4500.html OPSHOP/AUTOZAMM TOUR We've been lucky enough to get on the bill for the first two shows of these guys' big summer tour. We'll be playing Browns Bay and Hamilton on the 18th and 19th of December, so come along and see three bloody good bands - well worth the effort! CRAZY GIG Next week we're playing at the Demon Energy christmas party in Auckland which should be a cool night. It's open to the public via limited tickets and it features us and Streetwise Scarlett along with a bunch of 'sword swallowers, fire breathers, small people, Demon Babes, half a dozen pole dancers and a crazy dude who intends to skewer himself on hooks through his back and be hung from the ceiling'. Indeed. There'll also be cheap drinks all night. You can win tickets to the party here: http://www.parksidemedia.co.nz/competitions/ http://www.demonenergy.co.nz/competitions OR you can buy tickets here: http://www.iticket.co.nz/eventdetails.asp?eventvenue_id=1121 FINAL NOTE - THE LETTER Our first single from our upcoming album, The Letter, continues to amaze us with its play on radio and TV. It's still the number three Kiwi song being played on radio and 16th overall - we're beating Britney!! We've also had great support from C4 and Juice TV with the video cracking the number one spot on both over the past month. We're gonna be filming the vid for our next single soon - so stay tuned for news! That's about me - sorry for the essay - tis exciting times for us that we hope will continue, so we'll keep you in the loop as much as we can! -J- p.s - the album I'm 'currently listening' to is possibly the soundtrack to my life right now - tis crazily good. Listen.

Well, after about a month of release, our single is going really well on the charts. So thank you for all your voting/requesting efforts!!
Last week we were number one on both the C4 and Juice charts! So we're super-stoked, as you can imagine. We've also cracked the Top 40 radio chart - we're currently the 37th most-played song on NZ radio and the fifth most-played Kiwi song. And this is after just three weeks in the charts!!
So please keep up the support of The Letter and let's make it a big hit! One way that will help us a lot is to buy the track on iTunes, Digirama or Vodafone's music sites or on your Telecom mobile.

SHOW NEWS
We got back on Monday night from a great few days in Christchurch for Southern Amp. Thanks to all those who came along and supported us and said hello - was a great crowd! We'll be back down south in March as part of the Summerjam tour, so hopefully we'll catch up with ya'll again then.
If you haven't heard of Summerjam - the Veronicas, Metrostation, P-Money as well as ourselves are playing four shows in March in Auckland, Wellington, Chch and Dunedin. They should be awesome shows so def come along!
Remember we're also playing Thursday the 20th of Nov at Galatos with Weta as well as the 28th of Nov at Kings Arms with our mates Streetwise Scarlett and Kingston.
Thanks again for all your support - we've been blown away by how well the single has been received.

The Happenings are happening - our single has had a great response at radio and TV so far and The Letter is getting some lovely airplay which we're really happy with considering it's only been out for a week!

AND IN BIG NEWS - we've been asked to play South by Southwest in Texas next year in March so we're now planning a big trip through the US that revolves around the festival - very exciting!
Just wanted to let ya'll know about some awesome gigs we have coming up as well.

Next we play Southern Amp'd in Christchurch, our first festival gig. Will be an cool day and we've got a sweet set lined up for it, so if you;re around, come check it!
AND FINALLY - a gig we're super-excited about is at Galatos on November 20 - we're playing with one of NZ's greatest ever rock bands, Weta, at their reunion show. These guys made what is most-likely the best NZ rock album ever in 2000, Geographica, and are legends in our minds! Check out some of their music here: http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/diner/4771/index.html
Hope you all are enjoying the start of a new season, hopefully it's a successful one for us all!
