Double crossed at the Equator
the sun kissed my hyde, Black Man born with a tan, and tongue kissed by God, while bathing in her beams living daymares where dreams are mere scenes, to scare fear, you can hear clear thru the screams, the sound acts like a soundtrack, and pounds back thru the theme, which remains instrumental... when the truth is unheard, and you can hum along until you learn the words, the melody's comprised of facts conceiled in lies, more complicated then you're lead you to think, can only be read with lead or ink, so my pen bled, to reveal the contents of mens heads, like gray matter, display data, fluent to every nation, transmitted to every station, so nothing's loss in translation my culture is pregnate with a bastard child, she birth niggaz wit attitudes and girls gone wild, some say she was raped while hooking for cash, by black thugs in the ghetto and poor white trash, behold the irony cause it's not a joke, spittas get paid while hip hop is broke, she was incest molested and forced to turn tricks, perverted lust manifested plus she was born sick, her spirits almighty, but who could predict, she'd grow when replanted in mortar and brick, like a mutated virus metamorphed from osiris only pyramids and concrete jungles divide us, don't believe what I say---- the D.N.A still inside us, but some kids go astray when they don't know their father.Only GOD can guide us.

I felt really compelled to review this joint and I aint blogged in a minute, but since the controversy of the albums title or untitle pulled me into debate way back .... I had to speak up, I reserved judgment on the albums concept until it's release so i was eager to let people know how I felt about this disc, plus I always felt Nas, but I know you gotta be careful.....Nas gotta way of sucker punching a nigga (pun) swag. it's hard to compare Nas to hiphop as a whole because he's always been creatively ahead of the curve, leaving us to criticize his choice of production and his limited musical or melodic flexiability....but emcees know Nas is a human WMD and all he needs is 1 mic......
The new Nas album is a lesson in hardcore hiphop,(yung spitter's pleeze take notes) his poetical eloquence is destine to spark some intellectual discourse, Like Immortal Technique & The Roots CD's earlier this year ....the social commentary in this album provokes thought. It start's of with a sick piano riff (no drums) and nas just reminding us why he's one of the most prolific word weavers ever. In short the album starts hard, then drops into some crazy ill familiar soul sample with a old school stylistic sung hook..... it's tight, and for the most part the focus and agenda remains on theme with the original title ... although it's blatantly political direction is crowded with contradiction Nas's conflictions always seem heart felt. The production is a bold but sometimes out of place musical canvas for some of the most impressive lyrical intercourse in the game. Cool and Dre show up, but it seems they saved the real banger's for Rick Ross. Stic man from "dead pres" produced some heaters though .... peep the guitars on "sly fox" with the slow flow of Nas taking aim at corporate media (fox news)...hell yeah I bet ya neck start nodding like superhead....umm, ah...scratch dat..... Track 7 check it out..... The single "Hero" is the most "pop" polished as far as production in my opinion and the track "fried chicken" with Busta Rhymes is clever and hott, but he fumbles the ball on a couple of joints (including Chris browns cameo), still the album remains surprisingly slightly intoxicating, like a couple of deep drags off some potent piff,or some light dinner wine. This is a very poignant piece of work at a time when sex, drugs and hiphop have all become synonymous. Nas doesn't need hiphop to define him.....this nigga defines hiphop... I almost forgot how important hiphop could be!

HEAR ME OUT.........

While i'm fully aware of the sensitivity of this emotionally charged topic, i'm sick of seeing it in every blog, news paper and broadcast I see or hear, and so
after careful examination of some of the racial incidents that have taking place in the past 6 months, beginning with the Don Imus comments and culminating with the Jena LA. Blatant middle finger justice to blacks everywhere. It's becoming increasingly more difficult for me to keep my mouth shut. Donovan mcnabb putting the NFL on blast about it's white QB bias (he was telling the truth if anyone cares) The teen rape case in Georgia where a BLACK 17 year old got sentenced to 10 years for consensual sex with a 15 year old. also A young black woman was held prisoner for a week in a remote area of West Virginia where she was sexually and racially abused, stabbed and forced to eat animal waste. Three men and three women, all white, told her "That's what we do to niggers around here" after cutting the woman's hair, choking her with a cable and cutting her ankle with a knife. All were charged but, not for a hate crime. It's only when these type of crimes are perpetrated on us by others that we organize rallies and protest nationally, Then Jesse and Big Al start to yapping and calling for immediate action telling us all to prepare to fight. (no justice no peace) until we properly address the enemy within we must be honest enough to admit the hypocrisy that exist. We been though this before with Katrina. So While my level of concern remains great don't expect me to start singing hymns and holding hands or to jump on the Jena Band wagon (It's full enough) call me cynical but, I've come to the conclusion that the sting of racism may be the only thing to unite the hiphop generation and force them to see that positions of power not just money will dictate and secure the future for blacks and latinos in this country. We need more black doctors, police, lawyers, scientist, engineers, politicians etc. to insure the scales of justice are a bit more balanced. according to the D.O.J Stats (maybe a little skewed) 94% of blacks murdered are killed by other blacks. Unfortunately most in our community would rather watch criminals go free than cooperate with the police. (I still see the don't snitch t-shirts everywhere) over 300 murders in Philly already this year and I don't see anybody marching like in Jena. The sad fact is this same crisis is affecting us in every major city in this country. Now just to be fair I see some people speaking out but, it's usually the families of the victims. In the face of moral, spiritual and intellectual decay It seems we're self-destructing and racism is not our biggest threat, just the one with a long painful enough history to motivate us to respond. we must began attach the same energy and vigor to fixing our own issues in our own community for our own children. it should be quite evident by now that nobody else cares!!

Sometimes I don't feel like sharing, sometimes I don't be caring, I be like what I write might incite the races to fight, cause even God don't make the races unite, the power of the pen contains the might to forever keep thoughts in flight, and aint no erasers in sight, plus I scribble with a sharpie partly to know where my heart be but mostly to keep closely what sparks me,living is a prison for giving and we can only receive by forgiving, it's not what you got but what you gave that makes the demons behave, and slavery a chosen decision, open wounds just expose the incision, your eyes are open what's closed is your vision,I can see you don't hear me even though I speak clearly, only way to see is to listen. sometimes I don't feel like explaining, sometimes I'm barely maintaining,So I rock beats for the streets your soul mentally eats, then 3rd eyes can hear all that i'm claiming, sometimes i just feel like i'm whoring, when the game is so boring i'm snoring, when i'm sick of the touring, and the victor less warring and hatin the same shit i'm adoring, when my spirit is vexed, sin is like sex and jinn's get me so high i'm soaring, I stop exploring and realize, when examined thru real eyes, we all living real lies..........sometimes!

This nigga speaks of rivers
When this nigga speaks of rivers it gets deep as Langston's style flows like Rakim up in the Nile, before I had my own God blessed the child, in the streets they flood with blood, while dreams are drowned in mud, and flowers no longer bud, and some never learned to swim--- young minds don't know it yet, we dance underwater and don't get wet, we don't forgive, but we forget (raise ya hand if you remember) now our hearts are broken pumps, when love is just for chumps and we can't see above sea level, and we can't see it will never be level, who will be the sea rebel when we can't see?.....it ain't that deep!
When this nigga speaks of rivers all minds are waterproof, and the time before the truth, when love created light, to conversate with night so that might unblind the youth, a few sips could make you stagger, on trips across niagara, while others fall and can't connect we stand errect on life's viagara, who knows where it started maybe tears of the brokenhearted, and saliva from the spittas of inner cities create this river, with courses still uncharted, drifting souls from hearts departed, they won't lighten up on these black folk, so tighten uo on your backstoke (some still refuse to learn to swim)--- so we wade in the water, a prison made to order, nas alerted you at halftime well now, its the 4th quater,(Hiphop aint dead yet) instead of searching for the ladder, we wait on the elevator, and all these years later Carter G Woodson's the revelater, where misguided thinkers hold us down like anchors, same hand we shake that thank us, pull us down to sink us......... It's gettin Deeper all the time!

Hiphop radio is going crazy....First Star of the star & buc wild show a syndicated radio program in about seven markets nation wide as well as NY power 105, loss his mind (and his job) in his on going feud with DJ envy of hot 97 and Mixtape fame. Star referred to Envy's wife as a "slant-eyed whore." He also called Envy's child a "little half-a-lo-mein eater" and said he wanted to "do an R. Kelly on your seed, on your little baby girl. I would like to tinkle on her." Star, 42, was taken into custody and transported to a police precinct in Lower Manhattan. He was ordered to surrender a .9mm handgun and target practice permit at police headquarters.
Then funk master Flex come's on the air and disses Gravy saying he's banned from the station and they will never play his song again.....huh?...first off I never heard a gravy song played on hot 97. Gravy got shot at the station by one of his crew members....allegedly before an interview and brought the drama to the show. In flex's defence he's sorry, but  where was this outrage when 50 & Game (Hiphop biggest selling artist last year) feud jumped off on your station and gunshot's were fired right out side? You kno they wont be banning their music...now will they? and we all remember flex Calling benzino out and ishing all over his dis records...(even if the were corny) don't give me that bullish now flex! Then there's the issue of major labels hittin off stations for spins...yes Payola still exist
New York radio is in a state of emergency right now. Emmis and Clear Channel need to fire all of the moron's who's running these two stations cause they are clearly incompetent and they put a black eye in the game.  they do whatever the hell they want until somebody notices, and then they apologize and try to make up for it by putting some weak half ass policy in place. WE done turn on the lights...now watch the roaches scatter.

All right its time for me to get out my soap box and start reading NGHs the riot act. I just finished reading The Covenant w/ black America by Tavis Smiley. If you dont have this book go get it! for the price of a CD you can get some much overlooked knowledge.( theres a link in my previous blog) Some of the Chapters on subjects that are crucial to black America at this time in history are Securing the right to healthcare And some alarming facts surfaced I mean just on HIV Alone. Black & Latino children make up more than 80 percent of pediatric AIDS cases, or Two thirds of new AIDS cases among teens are black, yet they are only 15 of the national teen population. DAMN! There are chapters on establishing a system of education, as well as correcting the justice system, and economic prosperity ETC. While the stats show us the despair, this book gives hope, offering a roadmap or blueprint if you will, while reminding us of our responsibility to ensure no child is left behind and that we all play a part in creating the world we want! Hey let me say this the whole Katrina tragedy messed me up. I know Im not alone, and not just because I have or had, family in the area, That could have been any (black) town USA Feel me? Shortly after the storm Dj Slice (Mike Jones) & I put together a hiphop cd for relief. A lot people lent there support to the project. We had Mos Def, Wise intelligent, scarface, Silk the shocker and some other artist from the area, and the tracks where very honest. A little too honest I would find out later. We had it set up so all the proceeds would go directly to families in need. We couldnt get any charity to sign on once they found out it was hiphop (telling the truth) I got with Tom Joyner and his organization B.A.W.(BLACK AMERICA WEB) And everything was cool until....they heard the songs. Now I hate to put them on Blast like this and I have no animosity about the way they caved in to pressure ..in fact you can still help Katrina victims thru them from a link on my site WWW.TRUNKTIGHT.COM I knew this would be a monstrous undertaking,  but I had know ideal charitys would be so reluctant to be involved in fear of alienating its contributors. In hind site I guess it was pretty naive of me to think that people in this country would be willing to sponsor the truth (its to ugly). But that ordeal has made me more determined then ever to get the project heard. I hooked up with Kevin Powell, this brother was on the front lines days after the storm handing out food, clothes and providing shelter. Real NGHs do Real Things! So I had to set up a 501(c)3 corp w/ the proper escrow accounts just for this to happen. You can still get copies @ mixtapesinc.com or shoot me an email and Ill get one out to you. You know you manz still on the grind trying to keep hiphop relevant, But damn yall this ish aint easy!

Fredrick Douglass once said: If there is no struggle, ther is no progress. The struggle may be a moral or physical one, or it may be both, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without demand..never has and it never will!

SHE NEVER TOLD ME I WAS SLIPPING, I SHOULD HAVE RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS, MY BLOATED EGO HAD ME TRIPPING, TOOK FOR GRANTED SHE WAS MINES, SELFISHLY STOP SHARING THROUGH BLURRED COMMUNICATION LINES, UNTIL THE SIGNAL COMPLETELY FADED, AND HER FEELINGS NO LONGER RESPOND, I'M BLINDED BY DESPERATION, AND FORCED INTO CONFRONTATION, BUT I'M EMOTIONALLY UNPREPARED, I'M TO WEAK TO ADMIT I'M SCARED, AS WE TRACED OUR DISCONNECTION, I CAME FACE TO FACE WITH MY REFLECTION, AND BASED ON HER REJECTION, SHE ERASED ALL PAST AFFECTION, WHITE LIES & MISDIRECTION, AND MASCULINE MASQUERADES GAMES PLAYED WITH SUCH DECEPTION, THE WHOLE CAST IS GETTING PLAYED, BUT IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN CLEARER AS I STARRED INTO THE MIRROR, THE LOVE I LOST I HAD SURRENDERED BEFORE I EVER BEGIN TO HEAR HER, I NOW UNDERSTAND WHEN BLESSED WITH LOVE WERE MORE THAN GIFTED, WHEN I HAD IT IN MY HEART IT WASN'T LISTED until I MISSED IT!!
