Alright yall we finally here... the last stop on the tour...
just chillin in Vancity after checking into the tele and getting my
Starbucks on... for the people that know me, I'm a Tim Hortons cat, but
this is the West Coast... finding a Tim's is impossible.. there was two
Starbucks right out side our hotel... what can you do?

It's always good to start or end a tour in a place that you have a good
memories at, so I'm looking forward to tonights show here...

We've got Zaki coming thru to rock it with us for a minute so that will be
hot...Also got to head over to CBC and then do another interview with
Get Grounded... not to mention get all the merch wrapped back up since
we fly out in the am...

The last few days have been a blur... we were hoping to update this everyday but really things have gotten so hectic its like as soon as we check into the hotel its on and popping again!

The best part of the tour? I can't even front... we've
gotten an encore everynight! For our first time out headlining that
feels great... especially since we haven't done sets this long
before... And I'll tell yall this, an Art of Fresh set is a great
cardio workout... I'm a big dude but you can catch me bouncing,
jumping, running, and still got enough breath to finish up after an
hour plus!

But as promised, here is a clip from some tour footage... look out for more soon!

Alright yo... we chillin in Canmore now... It's been a crazy last few nights...

Last night we tore up Calgary... damn it was cold! -32!!!

It was interesting setup as Nana had to setup his DJ stuff on the second level while we basically rocked it in the middle of the dancefloor... But that helped it really turn into a straight party vibe!  People were getting down and get wild...
Connected with our man Deezus and Dragon Fli Empire as well as my man I.P. so it was a good night... Also saw our boys Lil' Homie and G-Spot that used to kick it with back in the day... These reunion parties are crazy!

We were in Fernie the night before that and the bad news was that they didn't have turntables and that there was some crazy event in town the night before, so we knew it wasn't going to be that big of a crowd... But then there was a lot of tourists at the spot... they didn't know they were coming to a Hip-Hop show but then they got down!!!

So far so good... now time to hit the soundcheck...

We'll be back with some Video blogs soon!

Current mood:  awake

Ahh yeah... so we back on the road and doing it up...

So far we've done two shows...

We set it off in Lethbridge a couple nights back opening for Naughty By
Nature.  It was my fifth time in The Bridge, so its like going back
home.

Got to give it up to the ladies who were rocking our shirts hard in the club!
Good seeing our boy Deezus in the place... everytime we see him he steps up his game!

Got a chance to kick it with Peter Jackson and crew... they are from Oshawa
and are holding it down on the tour with Naughty... they definitely did
there thing.  And of course it was good seeing Naughty get down.  When
you watch veterans it always shows a few things you can do to up your
game!

Next up was Grande Prairie... took us 11 hours to get there and the drive was treacherous... cars in the ditch, flipped over, everything.  It was crazy.

GP was nice... got an encore and kicked some free's... big shout out to Josy who was leaving at 2 am for Montreal... she worked at the club, so all the staff was sad to see her go... it turned out to be a good farewell party though!

now we're settled in Jasper and looking forward to rocking it the next two
nights... I've got some friends here so going to be good to catch up
with them - dangerous too... I know how they like to get down!

And of course Poizunus coming back in the mix... ahhh yeaaah!

Check out this Black History month rap that I put down last week at a school...

Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Yes yall... just got back to the city and now i'm on the road again... seems like this is what 09 is going to be about, but i ain't mad at that!

the first week of the year I went down to halifax to work with my man Classified... we've been trying to get down for the last 6 months but our schedules were always conflicting, so this time we were able to spend a few days in the studio banging out some tracks... As soon as I got in we got right down to business... he played a few joints and it didn't take long before I found a beat that was crazy... We ended up doing two joints over the next couple of days... Since we got the music done took it easy on the Saturday night and did it up hitting the club...

Then a week later I was back on a plane heading to France... I was checking out Midem - its a big music conference where alot of deals get done... Sometimes artists get tired of the business part of the music, and yeah, sometimes I've felt that way, but for real, sometimes it gets my hype too...
I had a chance to meet a lot of people from all over the world and looking to bring our music worldwide, which is what its really all about...

I thought I'd have a chance to chill when I got back but I hit up my man Jordan Croucher to jump on a track and he was like 'cuz I'm in the city right now, lets get it done' - so next day he was up in the booth putting it down...
It turned out real hot... "Gentleman" produced by my man Dallas...

Now I'm back on the road again, this time going back to one of my old homes... Sarnia Ontario... I've got a few school shows including one today at a school there... It's always fun heading back to Sarnia and this time should be no exception...

Look out for some new joints on the page real soon... album is almost wrapped... just need Slaks to mix a few more joints and we're good to go...
Stay Driven yall!

Current mood:  focused

yes yall its about 10:30 and we're just about to hit the venue... we're in Lethbridge, Alberta a small town in southern Alberta... its going to be my third time doing a show here so I'm excited about it. Its also the end of the 10 day Capture the Moment tour that I'm doing with DL Incognito, Malicious and Deezus. Coming into it I barely knew any of the dudes, but the thing I enjoy about touring is getting a chance to see how other cats get down...

I've got nothing but respect for DL Incognito... he's a vet in the game, a pure lyricist, and his crew nine planets are always hype and always down. He's got no ego, and he's got a lot of love in all these markets. Bottom line, I want his fans to be my fans as well, and thats why its been good to team up. Only problem is that out in the West coast where there aren't a lot of brothers, we get mistaken for each other every night... its actually pretty funny... especially when its a shorty... haha

Malicious has been doing it up too... he's got a tight team behind him and they've been pushing hard to get across canada for the release of his debut album... Deezus is the young buck on the tour... but what he lacks in experience, he makes up for in hunger... It's good to see young cats with there game down, and i respect his grind...

I wouldn't be able to do it without the help of my crew... I brought my man Poizunus to be my hypeman but he did much more than that... for those who don't know, he's one of the world's best beatboxers so he was wowing crowds everynight... theres nothing better than someone in your crew to get everyone hype just before you hit the stage...

then you got my man DJ Nana... he was able to get down for half of the shows flying to and from toronto to get down... besides being a dope DJ, its his energy that makes sure that we all bring our A game...

and of course I can't forget my man Lowkey... he's been holding it down as road manager and driver... every day we drive at least 6 hours, one day it was 13... that was after a crazy night in Whistler, and my man held it down the ENTIRE WAY! I didn't even drive once... it was dope cause if I was driving I'd be tired when I hit the stage, this way I get to crash...play some psp... write some emails... etc so big up to Lowkey!

Finally got to give it up for the fans... each city really represented and besides performing we'd throw down everynight partying to da break of dawn...

now looking forward to doing it again...

but i better get ready like i said i'ma hit the stage in less than an hour...

D.O. signs record deal with Halflife/EMI

Toronto, ON - December 3, 2007 - Announced live on-air on Toronto's FLOW 93.5 on Friday night, D.O. aka Defy the Odds will release his sophomore album Stay Driven on Halflife Records/EMI.

Halflife Records is run by Luke "Classified" Boyd, and is regarded as one of Canada's top recording artists and businessmen. In addition to being a two-time Juno nominee and top selling Canadian hip-hop artist, Classified is also one of the busiest touring acts in the country. This summer D.O. teamed up with Classified and the Halflife Crew (Jordan Croucher, J-Bru, Chad Hatcher, Mic Boyd and DJ IV) to open at over 40 shows nationwide. EMI is the record label that houses popular bands including Nickleback, Sum 41 and K-OS.

D.O. is coming off a breakthrough year in 2007. He successfully released his debut album The Northstarr and his single "Young Brother feat Opinion" was ranked as one of the top songs on Toronto radio. He also released videos for "Defy the Odds" and "Get Free" - a song from the duo Art of Fresh.

With the success of Art of Fresh's "Get Free," D.O. and Slakah the Beatchild have been working on a full length album entitled Back to the Earth. The group plans on releasing Back to the Earth in the summer of 2007 and before the next D.O. album.

As mentioned during the on-air interview, D.O. credits his success to a hectic touring schedule that has seen him perform over 150 shows nationwide this year. From clubs to schools, D.O. stays active in the community with his Stay Driven program. This month D.O. was featured in the Globe and Mail for his work with One Match raising stem cell awareness. In recent months he's teamed up with the Nelson Mandela Children's foundation, United Way, and the Raptors' Chris Bosh Foundation.

Stay Driven is set for release in the fall of 2008. To celebrate the news, D.O. has released his new single "This Grind" to radio and DJ's nationwide. The song can be heard at D.O.'s myspace page. Click here to visit D.O.'s myspace
