Got another one for you this week. "On My Own" is one of my faves. Been dropping it regularly during my sets for the past few months. This track came about pretty easily. Once I got the groove going I got the idee of using some cut up vocals. Luckily for me Erin Powers had recently come into the studio to lay down some vocals for another track. What I did was use those vocals and chopped them up to make something completely new out of it. Steve and I reconstructed the vocal to fit around the new groove we created. I was very happy with the outcome and very happy that Suara picked it up. Saura is a great label from Barcelona, Spain that keeps coming out with the Tech House gems. I am glad he considered this track to be among them.
Selected Feedback:
"I played "On Your Own" [and got] good reactions on the floor!!" - Solomun (Diynamic)
"I like it! The Thee-O & Steve Prior tune should be rather huge played at the right moment." - Kiki (BPitch Control)
"Pretty nice summery pack from Suara, Will def try out "On My Own"". - Mr. Statik (Immigrant)
"Brilliant! I'll use at least 3 of these for my sets, but "On My Own" is truly beautiful & hypnotic!!! - Pierce (MBF)
"Great release! "On My Own's"got a good groove and solid production" - Mateo Murphy (Archipel)

Current mood: focused

..
Very proud of this release. I have had a lot of respect for Jondi & Spesh and their lable Looq Records out of San Francisco. They have forged their own path with their label, not focusing on genre but focusing on unique and moving music. So glad that they thought one of my tracks would be a ideal fit for their one of a kind sound. "Reminders Of You" is a progressive-tech track with a melody that gets caught in your head. On the remix tip we got some great stuff by Yellowcake, Yan Lhert and Dawn Voyager. This release reached number 7 in the Progressivehouse.com Top 20 chart. Very happy with this package and I hope you are also.
Selected Feedback:
"Very Good. Like the mixture of sounds." - Chloe Harris (Bedrock)
"More quality from Thee-O. He is on fire at the moment"- Ben Coda (Baroque)
"Nice vibe. Like the mixture of sound in thease" - Andy Newland (Ministry of Sound)
"Great stuff from Thee-O" - Xaric (Stripped Records)

My newest one comes from Bit Records Mexico. I have had a long relationship as they were one of the first labels I did remix work for. They have always been supportive with my music and I am always happy to work with them. We set up to have another three track EP for a summer release and this is it. Melo-Tech is a deep melodic track with a tech feel. Stranded is a strange glitchy affair that ends with a deep melodic tone. Void is a tech monster with growling basslines and tons of energy. There is something for any time that you may be DJing on this E.P.. I hope you enjoy.
Thee-O's name has become synonymous with the sunny west coasts interpretation of groovin' house and techy goodness, and his newest release on Bit Records Mexico doesn't disappoint. The unofficial Godfather of the region's underground scene, Thee-O has been ranked by the DJ List as one of the top 10 jocks in LA. This lifelong musician is at home in the studio and behind the decks; like a true dance music don, he dominates in any setting.
Melo-Tech is deliberately slow out the gate, taking time to build itself into a full richness of deep and melodic tech house. Each layer is as subtle as political double-speak and the kicks and keys move the song into a beautiful buildup before winding back down and out.
Stranded won't leave you behind... The song begins with an almost minimal-esque quality and builds up with quirky layers of techno goodness. The simple loops are the bricks of this complex track, and whether it's the deep bassdrum, buzzer synths, or ringing keys, every part in this wall of music fits together ideally. The breakdown is a metamorphosis, turning the glitchy tech-house track into a melodic opus.
Void is probably the most unique track on the release, and it doesn't waste any time with a drawn out intro. The sonar-like pings help guide the song as a submarine through the deep; the sci-fi tweets and chirps sprinkled in with the percussion add to the sinister vibe. The dark bassline rips through the bottom and a gritty synth runs alongside to carry the track on its journey through the unknown.
The "Melo-Tech EP" has three very solid dancefloor tracks, but they are fairly linear. While each has a beginning, middle, and end, there aren't many peaks. That said, the album presents a trio of strong tunes; used properly, these could accent and emphasize a particular set vibe.

Selected Feedback:
"Nice One" - Hernan Cattaneo (Sud Beat, Renaissance)
"Void is for the dancefloor" - Hyline (Jetlag Digital)
"Feeling the deep vibes here...Nice"- Ben Coda (Baroque, Toes In The Sand)
"Melo-Tech is perfect deep stuff. Will play out." - Jay Kaufman (19Box Records)

I have been a fan of Toes On The Sand for a while. I used to get their tracks when I was a memeber of the Balance Record Pool and I remember playing quite a few of them. It was a honor to hear back from them when I was shopping out "Night Owl". This is the first track that I co-produced with my old friend Huggie. It was very easy to work with him and the track came together in one session. "Night Owl" is a progressive house track with a thick melodic build and a solid groove. It reached number 2 on the Progressivehouse.com Chart. Remixes were provided by Python and The Last Atlant. I hope you enjoy this release.
Selected Feedback:
"Awesome Release. Another corker from Toes" - Ben Coda (Baroque)
"The original mix is nice, good progressive tune. I also really like Python's remix."-AirIllusions (Vandit)
"Original is a monster! Quality track. Cannot wait to get reactions from this track" - LLavoe (Release Promo)
"ThGroovy bass line, solid production. Should work well for summer gigs." - Mike Hiratzka (Lost Angeles Recordngs)

Compression is one of my favorite clubs in Los Angeles. It isn't about hype. It isn't about being seen. It isn't the typical Holllywood bullshit even though it sits right in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. I have been talking with Rob of Compression for a while to spin for them. Finally on June 26th, I was able to get in and lay down some Deep / Tech House for the Compression crowd. I also put down a couple of classic Michael Jackson tracks (along with Robtronik) to pay tribute to the now deceased King of Pop. It was a great night and I had a great time spinning there. Hopefully it will be the first of many.

Illuminate was one hell of a show. I knew it was going to be good but it surprised me by just how good. The Hudson was done up. I have never seen the place like this before. There were lasers everywhere (at least it seemed like that). There was a LED net that was placed over the crowd that shot images to dancers below. Swedish Egil and I have been friends for a while and have co-produced a lot of remixes for Perfecto together, but this was the first time weI actually have had a chance to spin together. We went back to back for 2 hours playing some tech with a little proggy stuff on top. It was a great time and now you can have the set avaiable for you to download. We hope you enjoy. You can use the Soundcloud player below to listen and / or download.

It was my first pool party of the season. I was looking forward to this show. We get to the Flat Lounge which over looks Downtown LA about a hour before my set. Have a couple of drinks. Chill out and get ready for my set. After a few rum and diet cokes I made my way to the DJ booth and dropped over a hour and half of some good techy goodness with a latin / tribal vibe. The peeps there seemed to be enjoying it. Played a lot of new stuff along with some of my own new tracks. Really liked the way it came out and I hope you do to:
