PRESS RELEASE

....................................................................................

What ya gonna do, now the “Party's Over”?  The latest single from Dublin band Analogue Mindfield, ‘Partys Over’ takes a sideways look at the recent excesses of the affluent western world and the inevitable hangover that it is now suffering from.  Although some would view this as heavy subject matter, the music is delivered with a tongue in cheek swagger and a beat that just makes you want to dance.

As to be expected from a Malicious Damage act, Analogue Mindfield don't confine themselves to the one genre they might be identified with and this is quite evident in the choice of ‘Partys Over’ as their summer single.  Bringing in elements of UK free party dub-techno ‘Partys Over’ plants its incisive rhythms over a drum 'n' bass charge and tops it off with a 100ft tall funk soul vocal.   This e-single also includes a beautiful chilled remix of “Downbeat Rebel” by Mosienko Project  featuring the vocals of UK leading lover's rock artist Robbie Valentine.

Following on from some very successful performances in London, with their Malicious Damage Records label-mates, Alex Patterson (The Orb), Youth (Killing Joke) and David Knox (The Verve), Analogue Mindfield will be taking to the stage around Ireland.  See them at  Bacardi B-Live Dublin over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

...So that's the press release part...now for the personal touch rather then the copy and pasting ...Have to give a big, big shout out to our friends Mosienko Project who did a smashing remix for us and big up to Robbie Valentine for getting involved and putting down some sweet vocals for us on Mos remix, we all love what you did.  You can check them out in our top friends list and if you haven't heard them already check their music out.

Big thanks to Mike from Malicious for getting another release out.

And  have to give a shout out to Maureen our new manager who is currently working her socks off on this release.

Current mood:  busy
Been a while since we posted anything here, but let us assure you it's not been quite on the Analogue Mindfield front.  Busy remixing, recording, gigging, shooting videos, and building new studios expect to hear a lot more from us over the coming months, including a new single in August with a stellar dub remix of 'Downbeat Rebel' by Mosienko Project featuring Robbie Valentine, a busy tour schedule being lined up and a remix for BeatUnderControl which will appear on their new album alongside remixes by Bill Laswell and Youth.

Speaking of remixes we had the pleasure of doing some remixes for Subsonar which you can now check out on their myspace page, they're remixes of the title track off their album 'Cool Accident' which if you haven'ty already purchased it is well worth getting your hands on.

And if you're one of the early birds reading this blog you can catch a live session we did for the Dan Hegarty show on 2fm.  The show airs tonight 15th June from midnight to 2am....but if you missed it or that's well past your bedtime I believe they have a player on the radio stations website where you can listen to past shows...and here's the url http://2fm.rte.ie/show/17

Ok that's all for now talk soon folks
Peace and peanuts

Current mood:  happy

Well it's that time of the year again and Analogue Mindfield are proud to announce the release of their third album 'Visions in Sonic Sense' on the Malicious Damage label.

A year and a bit in the making the album comprises 17 tracks of tunes ranging from drum and bass to dub to trip hop to roots to ambient...a typical mashup of genres from Analogue Mindfield.

The album sleeve was designed by Mike Coles in 3D and when you purchase the CD you get a free pair of 3D specs...so it's also time to go out and rent those 60's 3D b movies that you've been putting off viewing for a while!

Anyway the album is available in most shops and on a bunch of places online including Juno, Amazon, Play, HMV, Tower...and with your other groceries in Woolworths, Asda and Tesco! lol...there are also plenty of download sites hosting the album, but for the best deal we recommend going straight to the source at the Malicious Damage Shop where the good folks there usually include some other goodies.

So thanks to everyone who helped us with the album ...Ishu, Spira, Marve, Jaz, DrDas, G Frequency, Yolazy, Carl, Thierry, Pat @PSB, Mosienko Project, Gloworld Sounds and especially to Mike at Malicious for the continued support and encouragement...and thanks to YOU the people who buy our music!...plenty more tunes on the way...

Current mood:  happy

Just released is Malicious Damages new compilation CD mixed by the Orb featuring three tunes from Analogue MIndfield in amongst a host of other stellar tracks...well worth a dip into the wallet or purse...and once dipped click here  to shop!...oh and here's the blurb

the clock machine turns you on:
volume 2

TWO CDs FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!!
this is a double cd set of 32 malicious classics [eleven unreleased] all gently sewn together by the orb... and it's yours for only a tenner!!!

here's the official blurb courtesy of our good friend mr kris needs:

"Malicious Damage is one of the few record labels to emerge from the late 70s independent explosion to not only survive but still operate in the original spirit of operating outside of the corporations and business straitjackets. With no allegiance to boardrooms the label has been able to fire out a staggeringly diverse array of musical styles and personal visions while keeping abreast of modern technology to assist in distribution and, via the website, invoking an essential feeling that those recording for and supporting the label are involved in some kind of close-knit, even inspirational, crusade for the right of artists to have their say where otherwise they might not get a chance.

It comes as little surprise to find that Dr Alex Paterson, who first became involved with the label at its inception whilst a roadie for founding fathers Killing Joke and singing with his band Bloodsport, is still heavily involved, regularly appearing in label projects the Transit Kings with Jimmy Cauty, Rootmasters with Nina Walsh and most recently with studio wizard Dom Beken as High Frequency Bandwidth, plus several special voyages by The Orb, of course.

Not content with a 'normal' compilation, Alex and Dom have hallucinogenically mixed up two CDs representing the current state of M.D.'s amazing catalogue. After kicking off with Killing Joke's seminal early single Turn To Red, and Bloodsport pummelling the Sex Pistols' Bodies they weave together the dubbed and dreamy [Youth & Simon Tong's new Transmission project, Analogue Mindfield, SMARTYR – with the late Paul Raven RIP, Norway's N.I.C. with former PiL guitarist Keith Levene, Teledubgnosis from the USA, Sweden's Beatundercontrol], surreal-acoustic [South London blues-picker Bob Meyer, ethereal folkstress Nina Walsh, Canola Tenderfoot], audacious oddities [Caned & Able, Belka & Strelka, Japan's The Sun Paulo] and more familiar names like Shriekback, Headcount and The Orb from the Orbsessions series.

There's also tastes of things to come with the Paterson soul chant of H.F.B.'s High Five Brother [Malicious Monitor] and Vertical Smile – Youth's explosive new disco-punk outfit.

The set is a stunning affirmation of a label which has stuck to its guns and released what it damn well wants, flying the flag for the original independent spirit and relentlessly throwing up stunning musical cross-pollinations shot through with dub, guts and a healthy dose of humour and madness.

This is one malicious clock which shows
no sign of winding down."

We've just finished a remix for our good friends on Myspace - Mosienko project. (you can find them in our top friends).  The track is called 'Trancendence in Dub'.  Loved working on this track with Mos as they've been producing some top world fusion/dub tracks for a ages now and we've planned working with them for a while.  They'll also be doing a remix for one of our tracks off our forthcoming album so stay tuned for more updates on that.  If you haven't checked out Mosienkos ' music to date head on over to their profile here

...where you'll find a bunch of Vids he's produced himself aswell to view. Enjoy!!!

Great weekend of Mud and Mudma (ye know what I mean Terry!).  So the weekend started early for us lot at the Analogue camp with our sonic sister Suspira arriving over on Thursday for some Mindfield rehearsal earbashing and a few scoops of the blacktuff...Already in Cecil B de Mille mode Spira was out with her camera documenting the road to Life...being edited at the moment watch this space for some hazy heads and funny stage antics!

The weekend was full of wet and sunny spells so whilst you might be introuble without your wellies there were the moments where you could chill out and dry in the July sun and thankfully when we took to the stage it was one of those sunny moments.  Joining us on stage was our new M.C....M.C. Jahz, being looked after by his minder BIG, trust me you'll have to see the video! hilarious.  Kitty B of course was there vibing up the audience with her unique brand of 20ft high soul vocals and guesting with us on stage Spira, with some borrowed, some new, some old percussion and a plethora of Norwegian war cries, how she does those trills, Thor only knows!  and in the middle of it all Snapper and myself delivering up the beats and melodies of the new Analogue Mindfield set mostly taken from our forthcoming album 'Visions in sonic sense' to be released on Malicious Damage later this year...had a thoroughly enjoyable set and are looking forward to doing it again soon (details of other festivals we're appearing at later this summer to be posted soon).

So would just like to say a big thankyou to Israel for booking us a second time for Life, nice one mate and we'd love to do it again! Prof for his storage facilities and patience (never got to tell you that you're a dead ringer for Bill Bailey!), Terry for the helping hands, David Henry for flying down especially to see us, Spira for her unbounded energy and weekend of multi-tasking and all the audience who made it down for our set, you made it all worth our while! Big up to all of you! Be seeing you again soon and we'll let you know when the Vlogs of the weekend are up.  Take it ez now y'all!

Gentleman John Earle

Earlier this week it was with a sad heart that I heard the news that the legendary saxophonist John Earle passed away aged 64.  Myself and Snapper J had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him on a number of occasions in our former band The Subtonics aswell as having the amazing fortune of  his talents as a brass arranger for some of our music.  We were an old punk/reggae band back in those days so having the guy who arranged the brass section for 'Londons Calling' by The Clash work with us was such an honour.  He always made us sound good LOL...I remember bailing him out of hospital one time to play a gig! it was like something out of a carry on film, with the matron inspecting the people she was intrusting her patient to, and us trying to look like butter wouldn't melt in our mouths as we wisked him away!   Anyway there was no problem with John that night although I seem to recall  that the mighty stef had a skin full and kept falling on his arse on the stage in Whelans, actually quite surprised I wasn't bring Stef back to Matron....John will be sorely missed around Dublin where he could be seen for many a year playing alongside Peter Moore and posse in many incarnations and locations!  Over the years  John and the section he worked with back in the day 'The Irish Earls' were probably one of the most recorded sections in popular music history...so many tunes he played on are recognised the world over with probably the most famous ones being the saxaphone solo for 'Dancing in The Moonlight' on Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous' and for all you big kids out there 'Fragil Rock'...  Here's a small list of some of the artists that John played with down through the years ...and judging by the amount of artists that aren't on this list aswell the funeral better be in a big auld church!

Ian Drury and The Blockheads

The Graham Parker Band

Rory Gallagher

Jimi Hendrix

Thin Lizzy

The Raindogs

The International Blues Band

The Boomtown Rats

Randy Crawford

Adam Faith

Katrina and The Waves

The Funeral arrangements for those who knew him and want to pay their respects (and probably go out for a real shindig afterwards which he would have liked!) are as follows...JOHN EARLE's remains will be taken to 'THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT in BALLYROAN' (near Mt.Argus) in Harold's Cross, Dublin. Reception of Johns's remains at 9.50am on Tuesday 13th May. Following the funeral service the remains will be taken to Mount Jerome Cremetorium.

Johns music, humour, laughter, spirit, energy, openess, friendliness and warmth will be missed but the legend of 'Gentleman' John Earle will continue to be passed on through the years in what he put down on record and through the side splitting anecdotes so many of us remember him telling.

Looking forward to the session next tuesday John...I know you won't be able to attend as you're booked for The Great Gig in the Sky with some of your mates...but there'd better be a good sax player there...big shoes to fill...

Here's the official Myspace page for those who want to pay there respects and offer their condolences online...http://www.myspace.com/legendjohnearle..

ok I'm off to root out some old recordings he did with us...the music lives on!!!
