I am writing this to you with a heavy heart and much sincerity. It brings me great sadness to announce the disbandment of Down for the Count. After almost 5 years of quite an amazing rollercoaster ride, we are calling it quits.

Things are so different now than when we started the band. We've gone through 3 guitar players, two drummers, and 3 bassists. It's EXTREMELY hard to keep 5 people on the same page in wanting the same things in life. We knew we wanted to take this band as far as it could possibly go, and I think we've accomplished this feat. So many different factors come into play when you're in a band. Finances, relationships, friends, age, commitment levels...it's all part of the game. From an outsiders perspective, one might think - "These guys have it all, they're living their dream!" This is COMPLETELY true. We did live our dream. We toured the country numerous times and played music we love for people that loved it too. However, the tensions and emotions that surface during time on the road can really bring out the worst in everyone. We almost forgot why we were doing this in the first place. And although we so desperately wanted to do this for a living, it just wasn't in the cards for us. We put absolutely EVERYTHING we had into this band. We were broke and exhausted from our efforts, but none of us regret a THING we've done in this band.

Now I must address you all - our fans, our following. You are some of the most incredible people we have ever encountered in our lives. Some of you have been with us since our beginnings in August of '04, some of you jumped in halfway, and some of you are just now getting into our band. We love you ALL more than you could ever fathom. You are entirely the reason why we continued to push so hard for success. It breaks my heart to have to give you this news, because I know so many of you will be so disappointed. Just know that we truly truly appreciate anything you've ever done for us, whether it be simply purchasing our record, coming to a few shows, or bringing cupcakes and assorted baked goods to our shows. It all means the world to us and we will never forget you and your support.

Please don't be afraid to keep in touch with us individually through Myspace or Facebook. We don't just consider you a number on a social networking site - we truly see you all as our friends. Please don't be strangers. 

We hope you all understand where we are coming from...we feel that this is the best decision for us as people. There will be other exciting paths taken, so please keep an eye out - and don't be afraid to bump our record from time to time. Don't forget us.

Just wanted to give y'all a little update on what's goin on w/ us for the summer!! We will be heading out on a 6 week national tour with 3 awesome bands: A Phoenix Forever, The Brightlife, and That Was Something.
