We are very VERY pleased to say that we’ve just put the final full stop on our Album.

It’s all done, and some very exciting times lie ahead of us (Like Total Wipeout USAonly more exciting. I know…I know.. how could anything possibly be MORE exciting than Total Wipeout USA???)

Anyway we’ve sung out our last notes and stomped our final….stomps and you’ll be able to use your ears with it soon!—We’ve put one full new song on the myspace player today and we’ll be putting other little snippets up later.

In other news we’ve been away in a van again.

We went to London –that was good-

We went to Bristol- that was good and somebody tried to kill me

We went to Cardiff- and did a show for SWN….That was really really good. We also did a radio session with The waiting room (You’ll be able to hear that on Woxy Fm sometime soon…..I’ll let you know when its going to get played)

Some nice man called Kev Eddy did a review of the SWN festival for Drowned in Sound. He’s so nice he even mentioned us in his word…usage…..

Here’s what he had to say………………

“One New York Deli hoagie later – seriously, if you've never had one, do it - i'm shooting back over to Chapter to see Chris TT. Before that, though, is my Find of the Weekend, Mitchell Museum. This Scottish quartet sound like the Pixies filtered through the Proclaimers. I ain't got a clue what the songs are called, but they're my new favourite band.”

Interesting eh? We’re very pleased to be Kev Eddys new favourite band. Thanks Kev Eddy!

You should (Of course) read the full review. Here it is

http://drownedinsound.com/in_..depth/4138299-swn-2009--the-..dis-review

So that’s about that….Only I should let you know we’re going to get in the Van again tomorrow. We’re going to use the van to take us to a place called Telfords Warehouse in Chester. Once we get there we’ll play our songs for 40mins…and then you and me are going to have the time of our life….and we’ll never have felt that way before..ohhhhh yeah, it’s the truth and we’re playing at Limbo in Voodoo Rooms…within Edinburgh on Saturday

BYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY..YYE!

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..!!
I thought I would just check in to see how you’re doing.
You’re looking well…..as always….well done!
We’re still tangled up in the creation of our first album. The songs are all done
…I’ve (nearly) put all the words in the correct order……and we’re all ready to clap and
stamp our feet…..so that’s good.

Also ((just to let you know)), we’re playing a gig with one of our favourite bands this week. Yes sir! We’re playing a gig with sunset rubdown in stereo on Thursday. Come to that….’cause it will be really really good….that’s right! REALLY REALLY good!

I watched The Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie last night. It was an hour and twenty minutes of spectacular direction and coherent dialogue.

And before I go here’s a “Is This Music?” Review of our last gig. Its nice!..…..

Mitchell Museum kick off proceeding in impressive fashion, their rambunctious set was just brimming with energy and vigor not to mention a sprinkling of anarchy, each song contains enough twists, turns and busy convergence of vocals that they can’t fail in gripping your attention. They arguably bridge the gap between Sebadoh, Animal Collective and Mercury Rev, equally quirky and intriguing albeit with an altogether more lo-fi outlook than the last two. As if to reinforce their DIY & lo-fi credentials, their latest single ‘Tiger Heartbeat’ is available on C-10 cassette tape (time to dust down your ye olde cassette recorders), although unfortunately none were available on the night.”

Its good isn’t it. Thanks to Mr Craig Harkness for using those words to describe us!!

Well that’s me for now. Hope to see you on Thursday. Keep in touch y’hear!

Cammy.

OK so we are about to unleash our new single called Tiger Heartbeat this Saturday. We're having a wee launch party night at King Tuts as well on the 1st August, so come along and you can get one of the very limited edition 100 individually handmade and hand numbered tapes.

Already about 30 have gone on pre-orders so get in real quick.
Oh yeah, it's on tape for all those people who still own a tape deck somewhere and the rest of you will have to dig about in long forgotten cupboards and attics and boxes and bins.

Or... you can simply download it on high quality mp3 from our website http://www.mitchellmuseum.co.uk with the free code that is inside every cassette box. Also just to keep everyone happy it comes in 4 different colours so you can choose your favourite.

So come on Saturday and say hello and get a shiny new bit of plastic that comes with it's very own sounds.

We’ve been…
Busy busy Mcbusy!!!
We’ve all just about recovered from playing Rockness last week. We had a good time…we played some songs….we got wet…..we played a couple of song in Vic Galloways campervan……actually….I don’t think it was Vic Galloways personal campervan. I think it was just a campervan provided by the BBC for recording purposes. But lets pretend that it was Vic Galloways own personal campervan. It was a tight squeeze getting us all in. They had tea and coffee making facilities…but we didn’t have any tea or coffee….Not even a biscuit. We’re not bitter though. They’re all very nice people at the BBC. I won’t hear a bad word said about them!!...(apart from the bad words about the fact that they don’t like sharing their biscuits.)
Hmmmm….this seems to have turned into more of a Monday morning ramble than an informative update….
If you’d like to listen to us murdering MIAs Paper Planes with a typewriter in Mr Galloways Campervan you can hear it here……………….http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/vicgalloway/

We’re very close to finishing our album now. Looks like it will be all Recorded in the next couple of weeks….So that’s exciting.

Talking about exciting news we played a nice “acoustic” gig yesterday. After the gig somebody congratulated me for getting the band signed to Domino Records…..which is nice…..apart from the fact that Domino Records haven’t told us that we’re signed to Domino records. So if Domino Records would like to confirm our record deal that would be great.

We’re playing a gig in the Captains Rest this Thursday…Might play a new song….  Maybe…..Look forward to seeing you all there. (((Don’t try using that “I can’t come to your gig as I still live in London” excuse. You used that last time!!)))

Last week a friend said to me

“Everytime I look at the Mitchell Museum myspace I
notice that the most current blog is called WHAT WE DID IN JANUARY. Its april now
. Its April Cammy. APRIL I SAY!!”

He also did a bit of swearing to maximise my understanding
of his point.

So….What have we been doing since January?

I’ll tell you….We’ve sat in our pants
watching repeats of Deal or No Deal. When we’ve not been doing that we’ve
been recording our album. I managed to write a new song during a commercial break
yesterday. All the music’s sounding pretty good.

We’re re-releasing Warning Bells on CD next
month, as we’ve just about run out of our nice limited edition vinyl
copies. We’ve got some vinyl copies left if you still want one…and
Rough Trade have 4 or so if you want to buy one from them    …………

http://www.roughtrade.com/..site/shop_detail.lasso?search_..type=sku&sku=310047

  What else?…hmmmm….TOUR!....Yes….We’..ll
be going on a
UK tour to  flog you CDs next
month.

We’ll also be playing Hinterland festival on 30/4/09. We’ve
just finished doing an interview and a tiny 1 song acoustic session for them.
You can watch that here …. http://www.hinterlandfestival...com/hinterland_home.html
if you want?

Finally we thought that you might like to hear a new
recording  , so we’ve put

Tiger Heartbeat on the player for you to use your ears on.

That’s just about everything for now.

Chhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..ereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeohhhhhhhhh..hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

                                       ..                              ..

THE GLASGOW MILL- We played a gig
for the Glasgow Mill and it was frankly amazing. We all had an excellent time. Dougie hit me with his guitar and I spilt lager all over
my Jacket. It was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone that came to the gig and thanks
to everyone that made the gig happen. We made new friends and everything!!

THE DOUGIES FIRST KEYBOARD LESSON AT LIMBO- The next
day we played a gig at Limbo inside the voodoo rooms inside
Edinburgh……inside
the planet. It was really good fun. I held my acoustic really high up in the
sky, and showed Dougie where the note A lives on my keyboard. A big thank you
to everybody that was there and thanks to Dave for asking us there!!!

THE Vic Galloways Radio Scotland Show-  We
played 3 songs on Vic Galloways show last week and it was very brilliant. Vic is
an incredibly nice man, and it was super good times. The studio that we played
our session in was absolutely massive….So massive that they actually have
a bed in studio……Yeah! That’s how massive it was.

The first time I heard Mitchell Museum I felt like a metaphoric baseball bat had hit me in the face.

Let me set the scene, we are on a moving train and in one carriage, we have Super Furry Animals, Oppenheimer, Grandaddy and Flaming Lips. They are having a jamming session, this my friends is the greatest musical orgy ever and it is encapsulated in one band, Mitchell Museum.

‘Take The Tongue Out’ is a fast paced and irregularly brilliant track. It is psychedelic enough to make you curious and upbeat enough to make your heart race with excitement.

Mitchell Museum

Mitchell Museum

‘Warning Bells’ was previously released and grabbed the attention of listeners, including BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamaq and Mark Riley. This was one of my most underrated tracks of last year, one of the reasons being it is as bold as singing your national anthem.

Mitchell Museum are one of my personal tips for 2009, Scotland is in for a hypnotic trip and I have booked first class for this ride. This band are going to blow your beautiful little minds.
