Please read below for more detailed information.
What: www.artconspiracy.org
When: Artist Install Day - Friday December 5th , Event - Saturday December 6th 2008
Time: Artist Install - 4 shifts TBD, Event 7pm - 11pm
Where: 3011 Gulden Lane, Dallas, TX 75212
Who: You!
Why: To impact the local art/music scene in a tangible way.
Beneficiary: Preservation
LINK, Inc. - This year’s Art Conspiracy event will benefit Preservation
LINK, Inc., a nonprofit group that teaches students in South Dallas and
Fair Park media literacy and self-esteem through photography and
videography programs. The programs aim to encourageexploration and
empower students while they document their community.
Donations:
Money will be made in several ways: door ($10 admission, participating
artists get in free), t-shirt sales, art sales, cash donations, and
more.
How: The Conspirators
Music: Chameleon Chamber Group, Aton, Mount Righteous, Dj Sober and Dj Select
How it Works:
The art part works like this: Huge plywood easels will be set up with
cut primered plywood 'canvases' lining them as completely as possible
in the four main areas of the space. Artists will come in on assigned
shifts throughout the day, Friday, December 5th and be assigned one
'canvas' to paint, draw, collage, create something to go on top of it.
Artists will know the work will be taken off the walls in a
live-on-the-spot-auction-kind-of-way. No silent auction. Artists
donate their time in much the way a musician would, knowing full-well
they won't make 'market value' or whatever somesuchnonsense, although
they may, for the nonprofit. The goal is for ALL art to be gone at the
end of the night with a simple cash donation (large or small) by the
taker. Art may go for twenty bucks or for ten thousand. The money will
be collected in a secure way and all of it goes to the beneficiary.
Check out the website to get a feel for this event, if you weren't able
to make it in the past. Now, why aren't we asking you to create
something in advance? Because the whole installation will be
photographed/filmed and potentially made into a documentary. The
creative process will be the focus of this event, not entirely the
finished product. Each artist will have approx 2 1/2 hours to complete
his or her piece on an 18x18 square inch piece of plywood. The purpose
of assigning shifts is so each artist has space to spread out and work
as he or she see fit and also potentially collaborate with other
artists on the same shift.
OTHER INFO:-
Should you participate, your name will be listed on the art conspiracy
website with a link to your website, if applicable.
- You will need to agree to be photographed and or filmed for the
installation. model releases will be available at the time of
installation.
- Subject matter is open but the art must be appropriate to be seen by
people of all ages.
- Artist provides all materials to create something on top of their
designated canvas. This includes paint, collage materials, brushes etc.
-
Calling All Volunteers:

Art Conspiracy 4, details below...
Art Conspiracy Celebrates its 4th Year by Getting Deconstructed40,000 Square Foot Warehouse will host One-of-a-Kind Live Art Auction, Concert onDecember 6thOctober 8, 2008 - DALLAS, TX – Art Conspiracy is known for pulling together all types of artists and musicians for unique fundraisers in storied Dallas locations. This year, instead of setting up shop in a historical venue, Art Conspiracy is looking to put one on the map. Starting at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, Art Conspiracy will host its annual fundraiser in a 40,000 square foot warehouse at 3011 Gulden in West Dallas. This year, Art Conspiracy’s theme is “Deconstructed.” The event will feature music from Mount Righteous, Chameleon Chamber, Aton and sets from DJ Sober and DJ Select as well as video installations from Edward Ruiz and works from 150 Dallas area artists. “We’ve never had this kind of a blank slate to work with,” says Andrea Roberts, SiteCoordinator, Art Conspiracy. “There many creative people involved with Art Conspiracy and there’s so much space to work with, the possibilities are endless.” Art Conspiracy differs from other arts fundraisers because the artists do their workon-site the day before the event. The artists work in shifts to fill in as many woodencanvases as possible in a 24-hour period. Starting bids for all pieces is $20 and ArtConspiracy’s entertaining, rapid-fire live auctions have become an attraction in their own right. “Art Conspiracy will turn the warehouse into a gigantic studio,” says Erica Felicella, Art Coordinator, Art Conspiracy. “This event is not only about making art and raising money for charity, but also about bringing creative people in North Texas closer together. Having all of these artists in one place at the same time, working for a good cause helps achieve a sense of community.”This year’s Art Conspiracy event will benefit Preservation LINK, Inc., a nonprofit groupThat teaches students in South Dallas and Fair Park media literacy and self-esteemthrough photography and videography programs. The programs aim to encourageexploration and empower students while they document their community.'For Preservation LINK, Inc. to be recognized and supported by a group of local artists is a huge honor,” said Dave Herman, Jr., President and CEO, Preservation Link. “We have been diligent in creating avenues for South Dallas youth to explore themselves and the issues that concern them and their communities. The support that Art Conspiracy is providing will assist us in cultivating our 'family' of youth media programs that serve South Dallas students during school and after school.” Since 2005, Art Conspiracy has raised $35,000 through grassroots, guerilla-stylefundraisers to reinvest in the local arts economy. In May of 2008, Art Conspiracyreceived its official 501c3 status from the IRS. Past beneficiaries have included LaReunion, an artist’s residency in Oak Cliff, and St. Anthony Community Center, a center that emphasizes art, music and dance in the programs they provide for 800+ children in South Dallas. Current mood: awake
Hello! It's been a couple of months now and we've fully recovered from the shindig that was SEED. Thanks to you, fellow Art Conspirators, we raised over $5,000 during our June fundraiser. Its money that will help Art Conspiracy put on a bigger, better fundraiser in December. The more money Art Conspiracy raises in December, the more that we can give to our beneficiary. And our beneficiary is…Preservation Link! Preservation Link, has been around for just a few years – and in those few years they have accomplished a lot. They strive to provide "life experience literacy" for junior high and high school students in South Dallas through a variety of programs including a photography program, "A Point of View" and a video program called "Sights and Sounds." Students are encouraged to document and appreciate their communities, and in turn appreciate their own environment. In the two years Preservation Link has been in operation, they have forged partnerships with the Dallas Museum of Art and Dallas Community College District, which increase the number of opportunities for the students they serve. Art Conspiracy is looking forward to raising money to help Preservation Link extend its reach into the community and continue to help students in South Dallas. For more info, please visit their web site and read this cool blog post from KERA's Art & Seek blog Remember December. We're busy making plans for the big event in December – please circle December 6th on your calendar! Art Conspiracy is committed to bringing the artists and musicians of Dallas together to pull off one-of-a-kind fundraisers and our December 2008 event will be in the most off-the-grid location we've ever had. The theme will be "Deconstructed." Wait, I Think You Look Familiar… A quick refresher course…Art Conspiracy strives to put on guerilla-style, affordable art fundraisers and use the proceeds from these events to reinvest in the local arts economy. Since 2005, Art Conspiracy has raised more than $34,000 for charities including St. Anthony's Community Center, La Reunion, and The Children's Health Fun. Art Conspiracy. We received our official 501(c)3 nonprofit status in May of 2008! Artist Profile Hundreds of artists have put their creativity to good use for Art Conspiracy auctions since 2005. Here is one artist's perspective on Art Conspiracy from Cathey Miller... "I am a working artist in Dallas, and I have been participating in Art Conspiracy since it's conception. It is a blur of pre-primed same sized panels, dark cold Friday and Saturday mornings, and odd locations I never knew I always wanted to visit. There is a guerilla art angle to the whole "paint the day before in a room full of other artists painting the day before " process that is exciting and intimate and very moving. I always enjoy the complimentary coffee, and pretty girl photographers roaming around documenting the process. Maybe that is what keeps bringing me back every year, the artists all painting their uniform panels in uniform time limits, smiling , chatting , trading paint, blow drying, and giving the art to the volunteers who then take all the painted panels and make them into a beautiful exhibition that happy Dallasites purchase one by one with loud auctioning and then the art conspiracy gives the proceeds to good causes. It is an amazing alternative to the sometimes stilted gallery scene, and a great way to bring many communities into one larger community." Your Name in Lights! Well, maybe not in lights but at least in the volunteer credits. We're looking for a few good Conspirators to help out with our event in December. Give us a holler if you'd like to help. You get to volunteer, but we alos give you plenty of time to enjoy the event. Also, we know all volunteers are created equal, but if you're a volunteer with a truck or carpentry experience, we would really love to hear from you. For info, please email: Cari @artconspiracy.org Your Name in Lights Part II We are also on the lookout for sponsors for our December event. Along with our eternal gratitude, sponsors will receive recognition through logo placement, stage mentions, web site mentions and more. If, out of the goodness of your arts supporting heart you'd like to make a donation to Art Conspiracy, please click here and make a donation via PayPal In the weeks and months ahead we're going to be updating our web site and we'll have a lot more info about our December fundraiser. Check back often, we'll be glad to see you when you stop by!

What does that mean?
First the effort this thing took. The 501(c)(3)s a designation that takes many looooong months to get. Starting in August, we spent dozens of hours filling out 20+ pages of applications, figuring out budgets for years ahead and trying to make ourselves sound as organized and upstanding as possible.
Now, how it will impact Art Conspiracy. It means we can apply for grants (which will come in handy if we opt to try and put on more events in the future) and means donor contributions will be tax exempt among other benefits. Basically, it's an official nod from the IRS that says "yes, this group has their ducks in a row."
It's good news to get, especially since we're working to get everything ready for SEED on Saturday, June 21.

Journal Art and Live Music Mark Art Conspiracy's SEED 2008 Event DALLAS, TX – June 3, 2008 - Have you ever wanted to get a close-up look at what goes on inside the heads of creative people? On Saturday, June 21, at 8:00 p.m., at the Sons of Hermann Hall, you can get the chance to literally flip through the imagination of visual, literary and performing artists during Art Conspiracy's 2nd Annual SEED fundraiser. The money raised will help fund the operating costs of Art Conspiracy's large-scale December fundraiser and inevitably help Art Conspiracy donate more money to its 2008 beneficiary. Since the end of May, 15 artists including Kim Cadmus Owens, Marcus Striplin, David Hopkins, Diane Sikes and Tina Medina have been filling up page after page of Moleskine? Journals with drawings, paintings, photography, lyrics, observations and more. During the SEED event, the Moleskine? Journals will be auctioned along with original work from additional Dallas artists. "When someone sees an artists' single piece of work, they are getting a look at a singular concept or idea," says Erica Felicella, Art Conspiracy, Art Coordinator, "but with the journals, you are able to get a bird's eye view into someone else's creative process – it's a much bigger picture and the results are intriguing." Live music will be provided by Matthew and The Arrogant Sea, Beauxregard, Spector 45 and Pet Hospital. The snarky, comedic antics of veteran Art Conspiracy auctioneers, Rob and Rob will be returning too. SEED will also serve as the venue for Art Conspiracy to unveil the beneficiary for its December 2008 fundraiser. "Art Conspiracy is charting new territory," says Andrea Roberts, Art Conspiracy, Site Coordinator. "This is the first year we have asked for beneficiary applications from local groups. Our goal is to use the money we raise to reinvest in the local arts economy. This gives us a chance to use the creative instincts of so many generous artists and musicians to support creative efforts being carried out throughout our city." Since 2005, Art Conspiracy has raised over $30,000 for groups including La Reunion, an artist residency located in Oak Cliff, and St. Anthony Community Center, a center that offers visual art, music and dance to more than 800 children in South Dallas. Art Conspiracy is a grassroots arts collective that seeks to bring the artistic and music communities together to support creativity community-wide. This weekend Art Conspiracy painted The Periodic Table of Dallas on the side of The-Club-Once-Known-As-The-Gypsy-Tearoom-Now-Known-as-The-Door. It's meant to raise awareness for Art Conspiracy III on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 6pm (100 artists + 3 bands + 2 DJs = 1 Atomic Night) and also raise additional money that will be given to St. Anthony's Community Center in South Dallas so they can continue to provide arts and music programming after school and on weekends. A special thank you to the awesome people and businesses who bough an element and also big thank yous for Frank Camagna, Kirk Hopper, and Sergio Garcia of The Kettle Gallery and Kevin Obregon for setting us straight on the art of spray painting and lettering. Thanks Art Con team for contributing elbow grease and losing brain cells due to paint inhalation - the end result was worth it. Sarah Jane Semrad took some pics, check 'em out: Day OneDay TwoAnd if you haven't seen it yet, check out this video on Art conspiracy II and then circle Sunday, Dec, 9th on your calendar so you'll be ready for this year's event.
