on december 20, 2008 there will be a gig at marz and motion in the shinjuku part of tokyo, japan where fourteen bands will take part in the 'we jam econo 08' mini-festival. one of these bands will be nels cline, mister shimmy, ms yuko and mike watt performing as brother's sister's daughter - just added: jim o'rourke will be joining us on stage to make it a quintet! other bands we're proud to share the stages that night are:

   on december 21 and 22, 2008 brother's sister's daughter (w/the same lineup as the 'we jam econo 08' gig) will enter a studio in tokyo and record their very first album.


   this is a very exciting time for all those involved!

during may 11 - 13, 2008 I was in tokyo, japan to record fiftythree pieces of music to go w/fiftythree spoken word pieces my friend richard meltzer had wrote and recorded for me. spielgusher is the name of this project.

mister shimmy was on guitar and ms yuko was on drums/percussion while I did bass, trading improvisations off of motifs each of us would take turns in coming up w/for starting the creation of each piece. we actually ended up w/sixty pieces in three days even though we had planned for four. oh, for the last couple of pieces, mister nago joined us on guitar.

I'm very grateful to my most kind friends, it was truly a righteous experience for me. what you're hearing here are just rough mixes of six of the music pieces. we're looking for this to be released as soon as we get it all together, music and spiel.
