In this recently appeared band play DAVE KIBLER and GARRET SCANLAN, the known on work in LIVIDITY.But does not to think that in new group they are also dedicated by US BRUTAL DEATH/ GRIND.I am say to you no. Quite other music.Here not putrefaction and rotting guts. Yes, this DEATH METAL but more gravitating to INCANTATION/IMMOLATION riffings. The Concept of the album- gloomy apocalyptic future. The Accent is executed not on meat grinder, but on tuneful and gloomy passages. Classical DEATH METAL opus with interesting party of the guitars and qualitative sounds. Technical, clearly and BRUTAL!ROTTING CORPSE Records red for advancement of their debut. "Necrophiliac"-composition SLAYER in their performances, was got best that I heard before this. The Splendid start! They have written on CD-BLASHEMY,BRUTALITY/EXTRIMITY!This truth!

Hailing from Illinois, Embrace Damnation make their debut with Glory of a New Darkness, a thrash-fueled compilation of death metal that should appeal equally to outright headbangers to and more technical deadites. The band features members from Lividity, Cumchrist, and Section 8. Expect no mercy here.

The first thing you’ll notice about Embrace Damnation consists of the guitars, which are performed by Joe Hoctor and Sean. Hoctor sticks to the rhythms, which are right out of thrash metal. Riffs are thick and juicy, with some of them tapping into the harmonies of New Wave of British Heavy Metal to produce some solid chops and hooks. Sean takes the leads, which are more straight-out death metal with plenty of shriek vibrato and an undercurrent of technicality sure to make an impression.

Drummer Garrett Scanlan is a machine, his lower end reverberating through the ribcage while the snare takes one hell of a beating. Vocalist Dave Kibler uses a low-end scream to good effect, but he also uses guttural grunts and demon-styled shrieks on some tracks. The guttural spews work much better, although the shift in vocals does add plenty of variety to each song.

Standout tracks include the heavy and moody “Broken Wings Drenched in Blood,” the shredder “Throne of Chaos,” and the diabolical opus “Diabolic Possession.” The band also covers Slayer’s “Necrophilliac,” which sounds pretty damned good, down to the screaming guitar solos. Lyrics cover many facets of evil and darkness, from Satan and his minions to demonic possession and what it feels like to be damned.

Glory of a New Darkness is every deadite’s worst nightmare, one played with plenty of aggression and technical aplomb. This one was meant to be played often at maximum volume. Yeah, turn it up and let the ears bleed!

Glory of a New Darkness is the debut album for U.S. Death Metal band Embrace Damnation. As one might expect by looking at the album cover and reading the song titles, these guys sing about Satan and anti-religion. That is fine by me since the band plays a riff-based Death Metal highlighted by melodic solos in each song. If you want a description of their sound, the best that I can come up with is Vital Remains, except that these guys aren't epic, they don't play nearly as fast and lack variety.

That is my main issue with this band. Sure they can deliver the goods sonically but when you have a hard time listening to the whole thing, then it is a problem. Even though they have a modern production you have difficulty in distinguishing their riffs, making the songs hard to differentiate. Another aspect that Embrace Damnation have to correct in the future is the inclusion of a bass. I am not talking about a member playing bass but simply the instrument being included in the songs. The musicians are adequate, but if they want to establish themselves as a good band then their singer must improve. To me, it seems that his voice is fake as it is full of effects; it makes me question if he has any talent at all.

Songwriting-wise this band is better than most, even though you can hear numerous influences from various bands, from the aforementioned Vital Remains to Obituary to Slayer. There are a couple of songs that are worthy of attention like: "Age of Satan, Age of Tribulation", "Diabolic Possession" and the Slayer cover "Necrophiliac". However, that is the exception and not the rule, as their brand of mid-paced Death Metal can get old really fast. Having said that, they show commitment and passion for what they are singing about, so I am confident that they can improve.

Embrace Damnation is a promising young band, and with this being their first album it is hard for me to be tough on them. Unfortunately, I cannot hide the fact that this is an average album at best. "Potential" is the best word to describe this band and hopefully in the future they can make an album better than this. Until then, they'll just be one among many.

As I was listening to the debut album by the melodic death metal band Embrace Damnation hailing from the state of Illinois in the US, I was trying to come up with some things in the world that annoy me. Drivers who drive 10-15 mph UNDER the speed limit on a beautiful sunny 70 degree day.    Long lines at the store when only 2 or 3 registers out of 15 are open while several managers stand around scratching their heads wondering what to do. (I would HOPE they are intelligent enough to run a register even though they probably say they have never run one.) So called music fans who mock good singers like Adam Lambert, Michele Luppi and even James LaBrie while embracing Radiohead and Thom Yorke's horrible vocals.  God does he suck and certainly has difficulty singing in tune far too often.The main lead vox of the band Embrace Damnation.  I wish he would just shut the hell up with his desperate sounding coreish death vocals.  Maybe the song "Torture Burning Inside" was written about why the lead vox sounds like he does.  Whatever the case, he ruins some solid music.

Embrace Damnation play some rather thrashy death/mdm.  While often the overall sound is thrash or thrash like, the lead guitar will oft times play some rather Swedish style mdm over top of this thrashy music music.  This type of layering is found on and off throughout the release.  Yes, the actual music is nice, but the annoying lead vox makes it difficult for me to listen to Embrace Damnation.  Maybe he will work better for you, but for me he is just plain annoying.
