Levaisseau fantôme L'histoire est basée sur le livret composé par Richard Wagner : le Hollandais Volant (le Vaisseau Fantôme dans sa première version parisienne) est la légende d'un capitaine de navire qui a défié Dieu et les forces de la nature et s'est ainsi condamné à errer àjamais sur la mers à bord de son vaisseau fantôme aux voiles rouge sang et aux mâts noirs. Aujourd'hui, la légende du Hollandais volant est celle du Cowboy fantôme. C'est l'histoire de ce chanteur maudit qui ne peut jamais toucher au siècle, à la vie, à la terre, au port, et qui erre dans les limbes depuis des temps immémoriaux. Ce spectre de fumée et de poussière tire son nom de son métier d'antan. Un garçon-vacher, qui en dépit de son apparent destin, jura par tous les diables qu'il chanterait l'amour comme nul autre, dût-il chanter jusqu'au jour du jugement dernier. Le diable le prit au mot: il condamne le vacher à errer ça et là sur les terres et les mers jusqu'au dernier des jours, à moins qu'il ne soit délivré par l'amour véritable et la fidélité d'une femme. Le diable, sot qu'il est, ne croit pas à la fidélité des femmes; ainsi permet-il au maudit cowboy d'apparaîtresur terre tous les sept ans, de chanter, et de travailler ainsi à sa délivrance.

The phantom ship This story goes back to the libretto put together by Richard Wagner : The Flying Dutchman (the Ghost Boat in it's first parisian version) tells usabout a legendary boat captain, that challenged God and Mother Nature, and is therefore damned to sail the seas of the world forever aboard his red-sailed and black masted ghost ship. Today the flying dutchman, is the phantom cowboy. Hundreds of years ago lived a fearsome cowboy. His life was harsh and had few pleasures But he swore in the face of God and the devil, that he would sing the love stuck in his soul like nobody ever did before, and that he would even sell his soul for that. The devil took the cowboy at his word and damned him: he must remain as sad singer of love, now just a mere phantom of a cowboy, and pace the surface of the earth until judgement day should come. The devil left him just one small hope. Only through the love of a woman could he be released. So every seven years the spectrecan appear on the surface of the earth, sing, and try to be saved by the real love of a woman.

Der Gespenster Schiff Es bezieht sich auf die Geschichte, von Wagner zusammengefasst : Der Fliegende Holländer (das Gespenst Schiff in die erste Pariser Version) ist die Sage von einem Schiffskapitän, der Gott und den Kräften der Natur zu trotzen versuchte und daher dazu verdammt ist, für immer auf den Weltmeeren in seinem Geisterschiff mit den blutroten Segeln und dem schwarzen Mast zu segeln. Heute heisst der Fliegende Holländer der Cowboy Fantôme. Die Fabel von dem Gespenst Cowboy ist euch gewiss bekannt. Es ist die Geschichte von dem verwünschten Sänger, der nie auf der Erde gelangen kann und jetzt schon seit undenklicher Zeit in der Welt herumlauft. Jenes hölzerne Gespenst, jenes traurigen Liedern fürht seinen Namen von seinen ehemaligen Arbeit: Kuhwächter. Der Cowboy hat bei allen Teufel geschworen dass er die Liebe die in seinen Herz steckt singen würde, und sollte er auch bis zum jüngsten Tage singen müsste. Der Teufel hat ihm beim Wort gefasst, er muss bis zum jüngsten Tage auf die Erde herum singen, es sei denn, dass er durch die Treue eines Weibes erlöst werde. Der Teufel, dumm wie er ist, glaubt nicht an Weibertreue und erlaubte daher der verwünschte Sänger, alle sieben Jahreeinmal ans Land zu steigen und zu heiraten und bei dieser Gelengenheit seine Erlösung zu betreiben.
