2009. We did it. The tour was a success. Starting out at Doc's in Kelowna we took to the road and roasted Golden, toasted Canmore and ........ed Edmonton . Aww ya.  Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg...slayed. :D It was sheer brilliance.  All original robot Nixie t shirts...sold. All original Nixie hats....sold.. :) :) Now comes the new designs. New Merchandise is in the works!

In this moment of beautiful time we are sitting in a dimmed room. Warm orange brilliance and crystals calming. On the background wall; images of Space, Aliens and Mayans, overweight cats and super hero spandex. In the front; buttons, wires, knobs, dials, hundreds and hundreds of them. A true space vessel. We are in the studio.  Garth Futcher at the helm. (Has worked with artists such as LILLIX, Fences ect.) And a team of incredibly talented engineer students...the end result? Nixie's first album. The sound so far? Amazing. 13 songs. 11 people on the project...One Nixie album to rule them all.  11 am to 11 pm everyday. It's been, an experience.

The studio in which we are recording is called the Nimbus School of Music, birth child of Garth Richardson, (Producer of Rage Against the Machine, Mudvyane, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickleback) etc. With his personal approval we have had the privilege of recording in his world class studio for the past few weeks.
We also had the fortune of sitting in on lectures from Joe Barresi, (Producer of Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Rancid, ect.) So much to learn so much to love. Bumping elbows (literally in the kitchen) with the worlds leading producers..life feels surreal.

The latest and greatest Nixie news these days seems to be the thought of moving house. Kelowna has been good to us, warm fuzzy and safe. But it's time for a change. The success and high vibe of the tour and the album has awakened the beast. We want fresh we want new we want more!  These little elves are adventuring to the big city of Vancouver.  Hopes of more shows and more contacts in mind. Were excited to see what becomes of all this craziness... but it feels good....reallly good.

Stay tuned. Shit's happening. :)

Show-ow-ow time, Nix Fix!

Our first paid gig and it happens to be on a manicured lawn, at 4pm, in the rain, on a Sunday. My hands = cold. My pants = notmypants- were black (dress code is in effect people. Shauna had to scrape the jeans off my legs), and the bleachers were as empty as a Well in an Alien Mars desert.
No matter, Nixie, no matter.
One shot of espresso; A Yell out the car window; the Roland wrapped in a greensleepingbag.
Homeless Keyboard finds a Band.
It started slowly. a man distracted us by hanging off the side of a building. Never found out what happened to him, got distracted by the tunes in my fingers and the FanFabWONDER girls rocking our songs on stage. I have big respect for my bandmates.

These boys volunteered to do media for us, for free:
http://www.stillmanic.com
Jared videod upclose and steady, Dave took crazy pics, Simon mixed the mix and recorded the record and shifted the shift and already got ET ready for us to post on this Space of My.
Check them out. They're making us a musical-video too and it shall be posted soon. They rule, my roomies do, rule the fools. Maybe we'll get our faces green-screened onto Babar elephant heads!

Shotty Sir Pompadour...

Sarah Pea and I are off to get Robots printed onto T-Shirts and thongs
So, Play Safe Fair Lads
and come out to the Habitat on the 28th. Where I'll be wearing Jeans. Hopefully.

Cheers, Grade-levels, Tree-lines, and Tacs ofcourse!

Current mood:  bouncy

After much puking of rainbows, chasing small children down the street (which had nothing to do with music...just for kicks), watching way too much Avatar (I want to be a water bender!), and annoying the bejesus out of our neighbors (which we make no apologies for) we finally got a track up to give you a taste of what Nixie is all about. While I personally don’t believe it really encompases all of what we’re about it’s at least a little of the about that we hope to be about...yeah. Have a listen, see if it strikes your fancy, and if not no hard feelings. We just won’t show you our cool new glockespiels (yes two!) and tambourine. It’s too bad...they’re pretty sweet.

I’ve been told I’m getting off-topic... What can you expect this new year? Dancy good times, that’s for sure. We’re in the process of booking mini tours along the west coast (sorry east coast) including the Island (of the Vancouver variety), the mainland, the Kootneys, and Alberta. You’ll also definitely be seeing us at the Rock Pit during Shambhala! Crazy shenanigans are sure to ensue as this summer kicks up so keep it real homeslices.

peees,

sarah//Nixie

p.s. i’m listening to Cansei Ser Sexy but the search is being retarded...just in case you cared. ooh! Cinnamon toast crunch!
