Current mood: amused
..I play drums. You hear me on the radio every day unless you live under a rock. Is there a band out there that doesn't suck, with bookings, vision and honest management. Ok, never mind the last one. That isn't possible. I lost my head fellas. I rock big time and I play with one band at a time. No band hopping. I have basically played in 4 bands my entire career so far. Not a hired gun even though my credentials are big as Bush's deficit.
Local, road, studio, weekends what have you. There doesn't seem to be much left of the business I remember before Bush/Cheney but those crooks are about done except for prison terms later.
Let's Rock?!

http://www.examiner.com/x-3884-Nashville-Music-Examiner~y2009m3d4-The-Music-City-Beat-Musicians-connecting-in-Nashville
For the many musicians in Nashville, and the surrounding area, there is a newsletter that can serve as the 'all-in-one' connection that they may be looking for. Gary Allen's Music City Beat, a free newsletter that goes out to thousands of hand-selected recipients every month, is chock full of music news, announcements, song competition winners, rare photos, musicians referral, discounts, new services for musicians and much more. The Musicians Connection is Gary's latest project that gives musicians looking for bands and vice versa, a place to exchange music and emails to network in unsure times. Check out this new service at www.myspace.com/garyallendrums. Gary Allen, a BMI recording artist, is a life-long resident of Nashville, and has been playing and recording music with top name artists ( Charlie Daniels, JJ Cale, Stonewall Jackson) for many years. BMI reports that Gary is played on the radio every 4 seconds on Epic, Sony, Buddah, Mercury, Polygram, Shelter, MCA, Blue Hat, CBS, K-Tel and Polydor Records. And if those credentials were not enough, the list of Gary's musical affiliations with managers, A&R people, radio, TV, recording engineers, booking agents, record labels and program directors is also quite long. The sharing of these connections is one of the benefits for the winners of the Sonic Bids Music City Song Competition, which Gary officiates in association with Sonic Bids. Contest winners also receive a number of other prizes, are featured in the Music City Beat newsletter and are spotlighted on the Tennessee Concerts website, which is a top rated Google favorite among musicians and bands internationally. For musicians who wish to receive the Music City Beat newsletter, it's as easy as contacting Gary (a truly nice guy, who makes himself very accessible) at his email address: gary@tennesseeconcerts.com

http://www.myspace.com/garyallendrums Music City is a tough egg to crack, I know I was hatched here. I have played clubs with dirt floors, Madison Square Garden and every place with electricity in between. If you are lucky you will get to take the same roller coaster ride I have. You know me as the drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band, JJ Cale, The Jets and Opry star Stonewall Jackson. The new referral service goes online in August at Tennesse's most popular concert events and live music sites: http://www.tennesseeconcerts.com Nashville has had two pro referral services before and I knew the operators of both sites: they are no longer online. My service is affordable and recession priced. You can get listed for eternity and get change back from a $30 bill. Of course if you have a $30 bill, the FBI is outside your door. Other services started their fee at $175. I am a working musician myself and understand what the market will bear (that bear will kill you). I have a combo package rate where you can get top posted with a larger font and also will feature you in my newsletter for 3 months. Basically whatever you want to promote is fine or you can make a plea for musicians or a band with links, photo, text and I will be happy to review or add a comment from the peanut gallery if that's your idea of a good time :) It's all about YOU (when it's not about me of course). Shoot me an email and I will make it easy, fast & affordable. gary@tennesseeconcerts.com I am the editor of The Music City Beat, a musicians monthly newsletter that has a circulation of 20,000 managers, artists, writers, engineers, studios, labels, program directors, songwriters and players. The upcoming August newsletter is #50 and starts year four of music reviews, rare photos and services for musicians including my very popular Sonic Bids/Gary Allen's Best Song In The World 2009 Competition at http://www.sonicbids.com/garyallensongcontest I personally judge the contests and the prizes are zany and offbeat like me! The newsletter is FREE and features Sonic Bids winners and runnerups.

The Play It Again Jam
Sunday's at 4pm at The Elysian Inn in the heart of Antioch, Tennessee and every week for eternity :) (615) 831-3944 404 Elysian Fields Rd Nashville, TN 37211
Plenty of Free Parking/No Cover Musicians Wanted for Nashville's longest running rock and roll hellabaloo :) Guitarists bring a small 10 or 12" amp. Piano players should bring a small rig and amp but usually that is taken care of by start up time. Drummers bring your stick bags and comebacks for drummer jokes. The newly remodeled famous local venue features a full service bar, food, beer, pool tables, wrap around deck outback with a bar, and small stage if you hanker for some karaoke. The waitresses are friendly, and new owner Steve "Bobaloo" Ivey plays a pair of congas and bongos, Ricky Riccardo style. Lucy is not allowed at the club, of course. This event is hosted by Pat Adams at Tennessee Concerts and Gary Allen drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band, JJ Cale, Stonewall Jackson, and more he doesn't remember! Guitarist Walter Jowers, runs the stage as he did with James Brown's houseband in Augusta, Georgia. He has wriiten for The Nashville Scene for 13 years and is now working the keyboard for The City Paper. "Fast" Kenny Utterback, guitarist from Pacific Gas & Electric, is usually on hand spreading good karma and trying out new pedals and gadgets. Other irregulars come from acts like Rick Derringer, Kiss, The Four Tops, Sam & Dave, Robert Palmer, Jon Anderson, Leon Russell and someone played with those two Macarena guys with the sharp suits. It takes lots of mutants for a jam, so if I left you out, I don't know what you can do about it EXCEPT, come to the jam and play out of tune. For more information please visit us on the homepage at :
