Woke up today to a stiffness in my neck and a weird feeling in my jaw. We're playing in a haunted hotel tonight, and my stomach feels pretty haunted too at the moment.
I want to just sit at a piano or guitar in complete silence and stay there and play for a year. I want to go to med school. I want to get a job with an advertising company and do what I spent 4 years in college learning to do. I want to have a family and a dog and a house. I want to train really hard and try out for the PGA. I want to write musicals and albums and tour forever and never stop moving. I want to be sitting on a couch next to you when you're sick or sad and making it better. I want to eat a GIANT BURRITO!
Obviously I'm pretty confused. But in general, it's all about pretty good stuff. I just wish we all had many lifetimes. One doesn't seem like nearly enough for everything inside me.
Love, Andrew.

Current mood:Columbussy
Hey everybody!I wrote a musical about Columbus. It's pretty silly, and definitely not historically accurate, but it's got some snappy tunes and features some cool kids on vocals, including the one and only Nate Ruess of fun. and The Format.
In honor of today being Columbus Day, it's now available for FREE at:
http://www.audiblediversiongroup.com/paperandplastick
So go get it! You can also order the hard copy through that page, or get the album on iTunes, but for now, it's FREE right there. Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! Wake up your friends and family who live in different time zones!
That link again is: http://www.audiblediversiongroup.com/paperandplastick
That price again is FREE!
We can't wait to see you all out on tour this month.
Love, Andrew

Current mood:sentimental.
It's been a while since I've posted one of these blogs. I guess between facebook status updates, and twittering (twitter.com/andrewdost) it's hard to devote time and energy to a full-on BLOG. But here goes. I'm not even sure if people log into myspace anymore. I don't very often these days.
But even if I'm just writing for myself, here are some newspieces: 1. I'm home in Michigan. Tour was awesome. Blah blah blah. 2. I mostly drink tea now instead of coffee. It was a New Year's Resolution that I'm just now starting to follow. I will also be resuming Pilates today. 3. I thought I had destroyed my left elbow forever, but after about a week it seems to be back to normal. 4. The Tigers lost. I still love them. The Lions won. I'm still suspicious. But I love them. 5. We will be playing an acoustic show in Boston on the 14th. "Be Thurr or Be Squrr" -John Bateman 6. CMU Later, Have a Mt. Pleasant day. <3 APD

Day 2 of tour, Day 4 of Insanity. Last night's show was a blast. There were some people promoting AMP energy drink there, so I got: 1. An Amp shirt 2. Headphones 3. Wristbands, that I plan to destroy during INSANITY today 4. a Frisbee 5. Sugar Free Amp
I'd say it was a profitable day. Now we're about to do INSANITY then drive to Albuquerque, NM. I'm looking forward to it. The bands are all good (and nice and cool), the general vibe is happy and excitable. In the words of Emily, our keyboard/guitarist: "THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!" And it is. Touring is fun. It's fun to be out here with people making music, changing tires on the highway, laughing, eating meals and sharing food. It's hard to be away from people back in Michigan, but it's hard to complain too much when things are this good out here.
Last night, Nate, Jack and I were flipping through some late night TV, when we stumbled across 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.' We watched it for a few minutes, then moved along. Then, we stumbled across 'Guess Who,' the remake starring Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac!!! WHAT ARE THE ODDS!? I'd say the odds weren't good, but tell that to my tummy, which is sore from laughing so hard at their strained relationship in the film.
I'd say it was a profitable NIGHT, too.
If you get the chance to hug someone you love today, don't do it.
Just kidding. Do it. Big hug.
Love, Andrew

Current mood:lovely
I freaking love "Where the Heart Is." Seriously. It's so good. My favorite line is the title of this blog. My second favorite line is when the guy is in the hospital and he's all "What am I gonna do, Novilee? Run away with her? All I need is new legs and a new liver, that's all!"
It's awesome. I wish I was watching it right now. Speaking of where my heart is, at the moment it's in the Carlin house in Frankfort, which today celebrated 100 years. It's even survived fire, to get stronger and more beautiful with the years.
Unfortunately my physical heart isn't there right now. My physical body is watching True Blood, and enjoying it. My physical ears are hearing thunder in the distance, which sound sometimes like tubas and sometimes like gunshots. My physical voice is tired from singing harmonies all day. My physical fingers are tired from playing piano and signing CD booklets. But my mind is happy know that I'm among friends, and that my life, at this exact moment in time, is a very happy thing. I'm making music I'm proud of, I'm feeling at home in my own skin and I am dating my best friend.
I don't mean to be braggy or anything. I just think it's important to think about everything that's going right. There have been times very recently when they weren't, and it's nice at the moment to just be happy.
I hope you are happy too, whoever is reading this. If you're not, you will be at some point. It just takes some patience and some friends and some difficulty to get there.
It's time to start wearing suits and taking ourselves seriously. Love, Andrew

Current mood:practicy
The last few days have been a whirlwind. Between Nate, Jack, and I we probably slept 15 hours in 3 days (okay, that's an exaggeration, but still we were exhausted). We shot a video, which was awesome. We did a bunch of video commentaries for the album, then flew back home on the BEST FLIGHT EVER, only to encounter a sweltering cab ride that lasted FOREVER, and immediately jumped into rehearsals last night. Today has been a bit more laid-back, but we're still working hard to put together the best possible show.
Right now, Emily (keys, guitar), Jon (drums) and I are watching Chicago before we get back into the practice room. I will be teaching keyboard parts and vocal harmonies. They are both incredible musicians and I'm sure it will be a blast.
So that's about it! We depart for Texas soon, so hopefully we'll see you then!
Fit Auggie is awesome. We got a DVD workout system called INSANITY that promises to kill us. We'll see how long we can make that last.
Talk to you soon, Andrew

Current mood:gettin' fit.
We kicked off Fit Auggie in style. With a Walk-a-thon to benefit the care of local elderly people!
First of all, what a great coincidence, right? The first day of Fit Auggie and already there's a sweet event for it??? BOOYAH! Second of all, it was a perfect morning for it, not too hot, not to cold, with a pleasant breeze.
Thirdly, and bestly, there was a SWEET free breakfast along the way! Complete with pasties and quiche. Totally an awesome mid-walkathon break. In total, it was about 8 miles, with some MASSIVE hills, and was a great way to start the day. Though I don't think I'll be waking up at 7 a.m. again anytime soon.
I also lifted weights and recorded some stuff today. Including the Fit Auggie theme song, which is now up on myspace.com/andrewdost!
Go dig it! It's downloadable. Makes for great gettin' in shape music.
This post is also at fitauggie.blogspot.com, complete with pictures! Go GET SOME! Love, Andrew.

Current mood:getting right!
OKAY. I was taking a shower today. And I was thinking "I am really not as healthy as I was a couple months ago. I've really let myself go." I scrubbed, washed my hair, etc., and decided that I was going to get it all back. But not today. I've already eaten some junk food today (Doritos for breakfast. Seriously.) and it just felt like I should start tomorrow. Then I realized tomorrow is AUGUST FIRST. A brand new month. A perfectly clean slate.
So, I am hereby christening it FIT AUGGIE. During Fit Auggie, these rules will be observed:
1. A big healthy breakfast every day. Lots of fiber. Lots of protein. And a 16 oz. glass of chilled water.
2. 6 meals. Not 3 big ones, 6 small ones. Tapering in size from breakfast onward. Breakfast like a king, brunch like a queen, lunch like a prince, pre-dinner like a princess, dinner like a pauper, and post-dinner like a puppy.
3. Every meal will be equated with some sort of medieval hierarchy.
4. 7 or 8 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
5. No beer.
There will be more rules to come, but for now, it's still UNFIT JULY and I'm going to go absolutely nuts with junk food tonight. Like lent. It's Fat Friday!
LET'S GO BERSERK. Love, Andrew.
