Cary Aspy was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident Monday evening while on his way home from a weekend riding trip to Tennessee. His Kawasaki KLR650 was a source of pride and was used to develop many aftermarket performance enhancing products for other owners in recent years. Cary had worked for Ehlerding Cycle for 13 years before coming to Schnitz Racing in August of 1992 as the service manager, cylinder head specialist, and engine builder. He was also a neighbor to the Schnitz family for 27 years. Cary was happy to offer any advice and answer questions in detail for anyone who asked. He will be truly missed.

Cary A. Aspy, 49, of Decatur died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Adams Memorial Hospital following a motorcycle S.U.V. accident in Southern Adams County.

Cary was born in Decatur on August 22, 1959 to Ronald D. & Jane C. (Laurent) Aspy.

Survivors are his parents Ronald & Jane Aspy of Decatur; a brother Steve D. (Robin) Aspy of Wolcottville, IN; a sister Rhonda J. Aspy of Decatur, IN; three nephews Taylor J., Devin S. & Chandler P. Aspy of Wolcottville, IN and the Paternal Grandmother Merle Neireiter of Angola, IN.

Cary worked for Schnitz Racing in Decatur.

Calling hours are from 4-8 pm Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 pm.

Private funeral services will be held and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are to St. Joseph School.

Schnitz Racing wants the world to know that we have a new racer in our mist.... Little Trevor Schnitz (son of Ryan) won his first "champsionship."  He participated in a Power Wheels drag race a couple weekends ago, at a local fair.  He beat the 3 time champion.  Needless to say Daddy (Ryan) and Pappaw (Dave) were very proud.

Our little Trevor was also recently asked to help in the R&D department of a local company.  They recently contacted Dave inquiring if little Trevor would be interested in test driving a new 4-wheeler.  Trevor's pretty excited to help them out too.

Current mood:  mad

You want to know what make us mad?  Companies trying to copy products carried by Schnitz Racing... Using inferior metals and components, trying to make a dollar off you.  Swingarm Extensions, Lowering Links, Oil Pans, Triple Clamps, etc.  All of these need to be constructed of the best material available and tested on the track to ensure safety.  This takes time and effort, so when a copy cat business try's to steal the design we get pissed.

Just putting the word out there to keep all our riders safe.  If it's not offered by Schnitz Racing, there is a reason!

Schnitz Racing is a warehouse distributor for the following manufacturers and we stand behind their hard work and original designs.

So this was Schnitz Racing's 6th year having a booth at the dealer expo.  Every year the girls of Schnitz ride down on Saturday and walk around and meet our dealers.  We always have a good time following Dave around.  For Marissa this was her second year attending.  She thought it was really interesting walking around, but the day definitely seemd to go by really fast.  She cannot wait to go back next year.

Wow, what a busy week!  With racing and riding season just around the corner, we've been super busy getting product out and trying to keep items stocked up.  Not to mention dyno tuning, bike building, getting ready for the Dealer Expo in Indy, and trying to make time for family.  My son Carson has his first birthday on the 13th and a birthday party tomorrow on the 9th.  I'll be sure to get some pics of that up on here.

Looking forward to testing and getting to the track.  The Pro Stock Kawasaki ZX-14 should be more competitive this year.  I want to thank all of you for the support on this project and those in the past.  It's been tough working as hard as we have and not being able to qualify.  Not to mention the doubts I have about my own ability to ride at times.  I still have the desire to win and I hope this skill as not left me.  I'm sure that a few days of testing will bring my confidence back.

That's it from me.
