-Over the new releases highlight, we are happy to present one of the most awaited European Dub scene CD releases from the latest times: Cultural Warriors present Classic Reggae Recut Chapt.1!
Coming from Geneva and in active since the beginning of the 1990s, the soundsystem led by LionPaw, Cultural Warriors, are considered the Roots Reggae ambassadors in Switzerland.
Inspired by Jah Shaka’s UK Roots tradition, and displaying their very own hand-build soundsystem, Cultural Warriors have cooperated over the years with some of the greatest Jamaican voices like: Earl 16, Anthony Jonhson, Jah Woosh, Rod Taylor…and since the creation in 2000, of Cultural Warriors studio, they have been releasing cultural and conscious music in the true underground soundsystem tradition, featuring a unique and powerful Warrior Steppas sound!
After many years listening, re-searching and collecting Jamaican roots music biggest rarities, LionPaw took the challenge to record in his studio, the original voices from some of those classics, originating the new release, Classic Reggae Recut Chapt.1!
More than just a gathering of classic recuts, dis is an genuine and original tribute to some of the respectful roots reggae veterans, featuring an amazing line up wid: Mikal Rose, Eek a Mouse, Ras Michael, Leroy Smart, Cornel Campbell, Johnny Clarke, Earl Zero and Rico Rodriguez!
Remembering 8 classic anthems, each one with its own place in the history of Jamaican music, dis Classic Reggae Recuts were re-written between 2005 and 2008, mixed by LionPaw, Vibronics, Gussie P and Russ D, all accompanied by their Dub version!
A strong release all over, given the quality of each and every one of the involved artists, wid all the recuts shining so much or even more than the original classic versions!
Still, we have to bring forward, Ras Michael chanting in his biggest classic None of Jah Jah Children, Cornel Campbell falsetto over Natty Don’t Go, or Rico Rodriguez genious in Mikey Dread´s hymn, Jungle Call!
Kind of a remixes showcase album, Classic Reggae Recut blend two distinct reggae music eras, updating the best roots & culture with the European Warriors Steppas touch!
