Dubalizer - Sub Existência (2009 Fresh Poulp Records)
After a year full of great free CC Licenses releases for all lovers of Dub and electronic music, net label Fresh Poulp Records presents 2009 last release, Dubalizer’s debut album, Sub Existência!
Wagner Bagão is a reputable presence in Brazilian reggae scene for more than a decade.
After working with the Brazilian band Skamoondongos, which he founded, he revealed his production and engineering skills by working wid bands like Leões de Israel, Ponto de Equilíbrio or Tribo de Jah!
His experience as a producer and soundman took him over the years, to have the privilege of touring internationally, as sound engineer for reggae names as legendary Don Carlos, Fully Fullwood Band or Midnite!
Like any Jamaican reggae fan, Wagner Bagão as a special affection for Dub music, and for 5 years now, under the nick Dubalizer, he has been surprising Brazilian underground scene, with an original live act, mixing his own Dub and electronic music productions.
An effort that has gained international exposure from the participation, with the tune Soldiers of Dub, in Fresh Poulp Records first strictly Dubwise compilation – Dub Tentacles vol. 1- starting point for the 2nd November release, Sub Existência, which puts high standards for Dub/Electro music made in Brazil!
Recorded between multiple Studios at São Paulo (Brazil)-Audiofya Studio, Fuego Studio, Mighty Sounds Studio and Tonelada Studio – Sub Existência displays 12 original themes, which show a creative blend of Roots Reggae, Dub and electronic music with Dubalizer Brazilian touch as well!
For lovers of Electro Dub and Steppers, we can listen to 3 of Sub Existência strongest tunes: the debut single 'Abra Sua Mente ' (Open your Mind) featuring Nell on vocals, Soldiers of Dub (with Nell and Mc Bing man) and the extraordinary Salvia Divinorium, a modern times steppers production, enhanced by guest Gutierrez trumpet melodies.
The modern ‘liquid’ Dubstep basslines, are also a notable presence in Cosmunidade, Dub is Electronic Music and Ogum where tribal Brazilian traditions mingles with futuristic Dub sounds!
The usual social criticism direct message of Brazilian rap, is also bossily represented, giving life to Sub Existência concept, in the rhymes from Dom Lampa in Míseros Talentos, O Tapa and Dom Coragem. Three Dub Roots tunes, which presents this great Brazilian MC/poet.
The guest list goes on with the dancehall raga style from Arcanjo Ras, in the unusual electronic Dancehall mixture, Pare.
In a pleasant roosty style, with the remix from Tsunami Wazahari for Abra Sua Mente; and in some original breaks&steps fashion from Stereo Dubs remix for Míseros Talentos, we round up the alignment of dis album, already one of the most welcomed, and downloaded, Fresh Poulp Records 2009 releases!
Over a rich and diverse album, Dubalizer is able to expose all his creativity and influences: sometimes bringing to mind the, sadly forgotten, Dub Dance 90’Ts; paying tribute to Dub Jamaican foundations and its repercussions in Europe, and never forgetting his own Brazilian origins!
