Sometimes I need to just rant a bit and I guess this should be my forum. As someone that is rather involved in the gay world...drag (as a hubby and supporter)....and gay entertainment (as pageant judge and promoter of events).  Here are some of my rants as of right now!

* People who bad mouth people without any reason other than that the other person appears more successful than them

* People who advertise "drama free" events..who obviously are intent on stirring up drama

* Someone that says they are a leader..when they are doing the same stuff everyone else has been doing all along

* Contestants at pageants that come and do the exact same talent some other queen did at another pageant.  Doesn't anyone have an original idea any more?  Give up on Joan Crawford..she's dead!  No more "not getting married", you're gay and right now around here..none of us is getting married. No more "Turn It Out" and claiming that's your original mix..ugh!! 

* Oh..and I am so tired of going to shows and having girls that need to "borrow" this or that.  While I know it's possible to run out of something suddenly..or to have something missing..it's always the same girls and the same stuff.  Oh, and then they don't return it!

* Borrowing stuff for a pageant. How many times have we heard someone say "I just decided to do this pageant..can I borrow..."?  No..get your own damn stuff.  It's one thing when you say you are doing something and someone offers to loan you something..but outright asking??? Hello!!  If you need stuff to do a pageant..then you aren't ready to do a pageant.

* The same goes for shows.  While we occasionally have the opportunity to book people...there are always those few that ask..."can you bring this wig or this costume for me?". NO! I love the girl that needs to borrow something to perform at the same bar as the person who owns the costume.  Duh...don't think they will notice you are wearing someone else's clothes???

* Or...and this is one of my biggest rants...the people that perform and do the same friggin numbers over and over and over.   They are at the same bar regularly..and each time, it's the same costumes and the same numbers.  Learn a new song..buy a new costume.  If you are doing drag enough to be working every weekend..you should be learning some songs and buying some stuff to wear.

* Benefits up the wazooo!  Damn...it's gotten to the point that girls going to do amateur bar pageants are wanting benefit shows and sponsors.  You must be crazy!!!  If you can't get enough together to do an amateur pageant on your own...you aren't even an amateur yet.

* Division in the gay community.  I don't understand this at all.  Here we are one of the last unprotected minorities in the country..but we can't even friggin get along with each other!

* Secrets.  Okay...let me clarify.  Let's say you go to a show and ask a girl where she got her boots.  She says..."I can't tell you, it's my special place".  Um...come on.  We always hook people up with places and websites where they can get deals on stuff that all the girls use.  Why can't we do that for each other?  What's the big deal.  While another girl can always buy a pair of boots indentical to yours...she will never be you on stage.

* I have really come to enjoy drag kings.  But...what I don't enjoy (or even like) is when they show up at the show in clothes pretty much like what I wore to the bar..and then perform in them.  Sorry kings..but putting fake hair on your face and wearing men's street clothes does not make a performer. (um..yes..this goes for queens, too).  It's a show dammit!!! 

* Oh..and don't forget the performers that head to the dressing room and change for their number and then walk around the crowd in the costume and hair they intend to wear for their number.  Hello...part of it being a show is seeing what you are going to come out in.  No surprises at all.

* Last rant for the day....emcees that don't know when to shut up.  If you are funny and have the crowds attention..you will know it and they will encourage you.  But..damn..how many times can I sit there while the emcee holds a conversation with someone in the audience and all I hear is what the emcee is saying over the mic.  ugh!

Oh, and here's some new ones:

* People that are so full of themselves that they think the world revolves around them.  And that includes talking down to people and being rude.  As a performer, you should rise to higher level and treat your peers (yes..peers..you really are no better than anyone) with respect and kindness.  The way to really get ahead is by being a nice person. Hard to believe, huh?

* People that deliberately spell other people's names wrong in promotions and posts.  Seriously...grow up!

* Recently, I noticed two performers that have been given a monthly show. One is just a horrible performer and the other has bounced from club to club with her 4 costumes in tow. Yet...someone decides they should have a monthly show and they replaced other people that actually have a bit of talent and wardrobe.  How do you get bar owners to do that??
