Glittertind celebrates Norways independence day, 17th of May, by publishing another two songs from the upcoming album on www.myspace.com/Glittertind:

"Går min eigen veg" or "Truding my own path", is a self composed folk ballad which will be C-listed on Norways biggest radio channel NRK P1 on the Norwegian release date of "Landkjenning", May 25th. The song is described as a tribute to the conscious choices and mindset of the hermit: Trudging in solitude through the open wilderness, far removed from other people and the drudgeries of the world of man, one finds serenity and peace by enveloping oneself in the beauty of Mother Nature. Wandering among the forests and bogs, hills and mountains, one can experience a sense of wholeness and a unity with eternity.

The second song is a groovy folk metal song called "Varder i brann" or "Beacons burning" in English. In this song a wanderer reflects upon the arrival of the christian conqueror, Olav Tryggvason. Beacons burn across the land to signify the battles that are afoot and the coming times of change. The traditional musical theme of this piece is taken from Numedalen in Norway. Around the year 1860, this valley saw a horrid example of desecration of local culture, as all traditional Harding-fiddles in this area were burnt by the clerics in the belief that these instruments were spellbound by the devil. As a consequence, the people turned to flutes to express their traditional music. The theme of this piece is taken from that époque; and to vindicate the traditional music of that era, we reinstate the Harding-fiddle in this arrangement.

May 15, 2009 - Friday
Today Glittertind got reviewed on the Norwegian radio programme "Norsk på norsk" which airs on Norway's most popular radiochannel NRK P1. The reviewer, Atle Bredal, describes the music in an execellent and impressing way, and he decided to give the record "a fresh 8 out of 10 points". We are really, really proud of his thorough analysis of Glittertind and "Landkjenning" and hope new people will open their ears for this project! For Norwegian listeners, the show will be on air another time on the Norwegian independence day 17th of May at two o'clock. "
