Joel's last album - Steel Is Real was a big hit with our customers so we've been really looking forward to his new release. Joel has switched from pedal steel guitar to electric guitar for these two fabulous albums, showcasing his effortless mastery of every coßåol guitar style from the 30's onwards.

The Modern Sounds have released a specially priced double length album. The two CD set features "both kinds of music" they play—one disc is titled "Hold It Fellas...It's the Modern Sounds," featuring their rockabilly and blues set. The other disc is titled "Stomp Stomp," and features their hot jazz and swing side. Minimally mic'd and using no overdubs—The CD's have captured in the studio the great live set of the Modern Sounds.

An "official bootleg" compiled from two concerts in Tartu, Estonia, "Twelve Live Warthogs" is a decidedly lo-fi, warts-and-all live blues document that catches Bullfrog Brown working their home turf, completely unaware of being recorded. It's the first time the band's unadorned live sound has been captured on CD, producing what might conceivably be their most alternative release to date.

The band’s name alludes on one hand to Johnny Cash’s legendary band « The Tennessee Two » and, on the other, to the State of Tennesse, where country and western blended with blues to change the face of popular music forever.

The heart of our band is the accordion. Although the honky-tonk piano is certainly the most dominant key instrument used in jazz, the accordion was widely used in popular “Jazz” music, particularly in Europe in the 20’s and 30’s. As the accordion is rarely used in Jazz music today, it gives the band a special, rather distinctive touch.

This CD is chocked full of moods, rhythms and sounds. Opening with the mid tempo hopping rocker “Cell Block Blues”, the boys take you on a roller coaster ride of Teen Ballads, Hillbilly Swing, Rockbilly and late 50's Raw Rock n Roll. All songs are written and arranged by Ryan, Brandon and Travis. Our picks are “Cell Block Blues” (rockabilly), “Hey Johnny” (Johnny Cash Tribute), “Cry” (Pop Ballad), “The Lonely One” (raw 50's rocker), “Twistin’ and a Turnin’ (wild piano rocker). Ryan Cain’s vocals have been compared to Ronnie Self. The musicianship is excellent and of course, packaged with the legendary Wild Hare Records sound and design work....this CD is a knockout!
