We'll see what happens?

Hello.

First off I want to say that I don't speak for the entire band.  This is merely my rambling.

Mike is writing new material.  He's always writing new material so that isn't saying much.  But he is.  We haven't progressed much with it yet as a whole band so it is also difficult to say what it will eventually sound like.  I suppose that's not much of an update.  Sorry.  I just wanted to let you know that we aren't sitting idly and twiddling our thumbs.

As of this moment we fail to have any shows lined up.  But that should change soon.  Look for travel dates in the Spring and Fall soon and maybe a couple more local shows.

Finally, we somehow managed to make Metacritic's Best of 2008 list.  With only 7 reviews it seems a bit unfair and it's quite possible we'll be bumped off by the time you are reading this, but now we can say we're almost as famous as Neil Young, whoever that is.

Hello Internet Surfers!

We're very pleased to announce that our cover of "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. will be featured on the cokemachineglow.com Fantasy Podcast.  Get it HERE

We recorded the song at the Science of Sound studio earlier this month.  Not being overly familiar with M.I.A.'s stuff, we chose the song because the driving riff is a sample of the opening to "Straight to Hell" by the Clash, which we've loved for many years and even considered covering at one point.  We hope to give you a live version of the cover at our January 16th show at Cafe Montmartre, as well as debut some new material we've been working on.

In other news, we finally have a facebook profile.  There you can hear more songs off of "Black Forest (tra la la)" as well as participate in other Facebook stuff.  Here's the link: PYG on Facebook

Happy Holidays!

Love,

Hello Ladies and Gents!

You may or may not have noticed, but paleyounggentlemen.com actually goes to, wait for it, A WEBSITE!

Nothing too fancy. In fact, much of the information there looks eerily familiar to myspace. However, the website has this neat thing called a shop!

So....

We have T-SHIRTS! You probably noticed the T-Shirt icon to the left. We only have women’s tees right now, but we’ll soon have that other gender too.

That’s it for now!

Much Love,

Matt

Hello PYG blog reader!

We’re pleased to announce that we have signed with Science of Sound, an independent record label based in Madison, WI. They will be releasing the follow-up to our 2007 self-titled debut, and we’re tentatively aiming for a Fall ’08 release.

Earlier this month, Mike, Brett and I were hard at work in the basement studio of Science of Sound putting together a rough demo of the new album. You can see some pictures from those days here.

As with the debut, the new album will be recorded at Smart Studios with the aid and assistance of the wonderful Beau Sorenson. It will also feature three new(er) members: Beth Morgan on vocals and bells, Derek Powell on violin, and Gwen Miller on viola. Andrew Brawner (bass) has since amicably left the band and is preparing to release an incredible album under the moniker Time Since Western.

I’ll keep you posted here as things progress. The website, paleyounggentlemen.com, is a work in progress, but you can retrieve info there as well.

As you can tell from our "Top Friends", we think very highly of Science of Sound and the people who make it work. We’re excited and honored to be working with such awesome individuals. And we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

Warmest Regards,
PYG
