Category: Parties and Nightlife
If you haven't been, go.  If you have, keep going, don't let this place close.  Good food, good people, great music both live and DJ'd, an almost entirely funk-free vibe and more scantily-clad hotties than you could ever dream would fit into one room.  Seriously, it's off the proverbial hook.

Sun House definitely hopes to be back!

Check out the interview Josh did with these guys:

http://www.mycrazymusicblog.com/2008/11/getting-to-know-sun-house.html

Sun House is a rock and soul group that is relatively new, having recently completed their first full-length CD, 'Ushu Ones', co-produced by their friend Steve Bradley of No Doubt/Gwen Stefani fame. Already, Sun House has begun to build a stable following on both sides of the Bay Bridge and has played a few private events as well. Their song, 'Yellow Bus' was used by Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream for a progressive campaign, and another song, 'Cui Bono?' is featured on a German 9/11 truth compilation CD.

Interview questions:
Full given name: Joshua Albert Garey, lead guitarist and songwriter for Sun House (Long name, huh? Usually I just go by "Josh")
Hometown: Oakland, CA
MAC or PC? Both.
Favorite post-show meal: Top Dog on Durant.
Pre-show rituals: Mock-sacrifice to Baphomet. Just kidding, usually I just re-string my guitar and warm up my hands.
Worst onstage mishap: Our trumpet player got into an argument with an incompetent sound guy, and I was so distracted I started soloing in the wrong key.
Favorite venue to play in: Great American Music Hall. Top shelf!
Favorite place to travel: I haven't traveled nearly enough. I love touring the west coast, but I really must see the ancient temples and pyramids in Egypt one day.
All-time favorite music venue: Greek Theater in Berkeley.
Special skills: Bird calls, juggling, writing songs of immense depth and variety.
Last book you read: 'Tales from the Time Loop' by David Icke.
Favorite magazine: Pretty much the only time I read magazines is when I'm at the doctor's office.
Must-see TV show: Jon Stewart / Stephen Colbert, Stargate SG-1, the Simpsons & Futurama.
Last good movie you saw: The latest Indiana Jones movie was ok; most people didn't get the alien bit at the end, but I was right there with 'em.
Favorite place you have lived: Berkeley! Hella.
First concert ever saw: 'Swatch Watch Fresh Festival' at the Henry J. Kaiser featuring Run DMC. Damn, I'm gettin' old.
If you could go back in time and catch any concert, what would it be? Hendrix with Band of Gypsies at the Filmore East on NYE 69-70. No question.
Current band/musician (besides yourself) you have been recommending to your friends: Lang Lang, Ben Harper, Tool and System of a Down.
Most played song on your iPod: I don't own an iPod. I have a tape-recorder built into my brain. At home, I listen to a lot of Vince Gurauldi, Beatles and Iron Maiden.
Best vacation spot: Russian River.
Worst job you ever had: Office assistant for 2 incredibly rude and obnoxious financial planners who rented a crowded, low-ceilinged attic of an office. Pure hell.

Was a great experience.  They are heroes to me, and although in my mind they should be a lot more rich and famous than they are, it is inspiring to see them play their hearts out whether they are at a 500 or a 5000-seater.  God bless them, each and every one.

Just want to express our deep appreciation to the Elbo Room staff and to all the people who came out and packed the Elbo Room on Jan 4th, 2008 for our show there.  Best Sun House gig yet, by a long shot!  Big props as well the other bands on the bill who not only played magnificently, but promoted the hell out of it: Full On Flyhead, Bumbalo, and last but not least, Hippie Grenade, who graced us with their swan-song performance that evening.  Best of luck to Bhi Bhiman and the rest of the boys in their future endeavors.

Sun House is honored to have our song "Cui Bono?" added to Neil Young's page, 'Songs of the Times' located here:

http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/lwwsongspage.html

It is among an astounding number of other protest songs, indie and major alike, that would otherwise have no voice in the mass-media.  Neil Young is a mensch of the highest order.

Please visit the above page, and search (ctrl+f) by our song's alternate spelling, "Qui Bono?" and then click through to be redirected back to our myspace page.  This is important, as it will help our song's rating move up through the ranks on Neil's site.

Be well,

Josh & Sun House

Illuminaughty – 1/07

From ancient kings of yore

To Pharaohs from before

Illuminati bloodlines rule the world

They dress themselves in skin

And conquer from within

Saluting to a flag as yet unfurled

They have their go-betweens

And justify their means

By playing on our fears and pent desire

The fabled Lords of Rings

They are the Lizard Kings

By dragons' breath the skies alight with fire

A mason once was shown

How best to cut a stone

To make a window through which one can see

The secrets that are kept

Have grown up as we slept

And now they threaten all humanity

You may be one to laugh

Call it a foolish path

But wise men say the truth will make us free

The part that they leave out

Is that without a doubt

The truth destroys a false reality
