Aawrrloorgggooooohhhmmyyyygaaaahddddd.

That was an approximation of the thought running through my head at last night's Q-Tip concert. I mean, his kick-ass band go straight into the riff from 'Superstition' as an encore and Tip is asking the audience for 'someone who can sing - I mean REALLY sing...' He's walking off stage to a dark VIP corner and I'm thinking 'hang ON a minute?' as DJ Scratch starts pulling out his camera to take a picture, and then THAT VOICE starts singing the second verse...

Yep, it's Stevie Wonder. In the flesh. In a small club in fact - not even filled to capacity - just jamming out as a guest, singing, rapping with the crowd, playing fender rhodes. It should be no surprise that he's one of my biggest heroes ever - I've just never seen him live before. Yeah, he's still got it. Way to make a great show even more ridiculous; I guess I can die happy now...

Or did I just dream it all?

Yo Fellow Morellos,

It's been great meeting people on the road this Summer, old faces and new. Plus playing a bunch of festivals and seeing a ton of bands is very inspiring; getting to rock out to a Mark Bell Dj set at Bjork's aftershow party in Austin last week totally blew my mind!...

I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, instead here's a recent Swedish review that rocks the most -

"If you mix the California pop of Christopher Cross with the soulpop of Womack & Womack plus add a huge portion of 80´s Soundtrack music a la Giorgio Moroder - you're gonna get "Handheld".
I haven´t heard such positive songs for a long time than these floor fillers, I lift my hat off for Mal´s supercool flirt with the 80´s.
No it´s not Flashdance 2, it´s Morello giving the listener plenty of feel-good vitamins!"

Hallo Pop Pickers,

It's about time this Summer Anthem was posted for general consumption: I'm talkin' 'bout 'One More Credit', natch. After this I'll have posted all the tracks from the 'Handheld' long player and it'll be time to start finding some other weirdness - old and new - to share with you. Until then, Toodle-oo!

Prost Meine Chatzis?

I wish I'd paid more attention in school; now I'm getting German album reviews and I have to resort to 'babel fish' just to understand it...except the resulting translation is hilariously incomprehensible! Check out the following by way of example - I think this is a good review...right? Answers on a (digital) postcard please.

"Wish yourself does you secretly the glorious times back, at which us "Dallas" was kredenzt, "Miami Vice" and "Melrose Place" in the evening program? Do you belong to the sound TRACKS of "Magnum" to those, which tried convulsively/desperately, on Vinyl too ergattern? Are disks of the Beach Boys located in your disk cabinet? Did you with the 80er-Jahre-Ami-Pornos (, whom I by the way personally naturally never saw, whip) instinktiv to the mood music with the knee? Or does Du ab get and to still your Atari VCS 2600 with the video game Pacman of the attic?

Then "Handheld" could be by MORELLO for you the correct album. Because the mixture from the life feelings and music styles described above characterizes into approximately what Malcolm CROSSES pressed and its fellow combatants on this 34-minuetigen album on the glass master.

As already the predecessor album "minimum" is to be thought also "Handheld" produced and with some TRACKS is one also held that these were produced on the good old Atari ST. If one looks at oneself however the pictures on MORELLOS homepage, it becomes clear that a much larger expenditure was operated, in order to produce the typical California Pop sound.

Who is added this music direction, MORELLO should give calmly times a chance. All different will will become difficult rather problems with the album haben. In Europe it, to the album will approach, since no European selling is present. Who can do without something strong, the album can refer also over iTunes."

Thankyou/Danke Kay Markshies from Home of Rock! Let's do this again sometime. For everyone else; go rent Das Boot and freak yo'selves out. Who can do without something strong?

Dive, dive!

Hallo Y'all,

A new week, a new track from 'the LP of 2007' Handheld...This time the slammin pissed-off pop song Green Eyed Boss...yep, jealousy's a bitch (and mistrust is a bastard) when it comes to relationships - the Ultimate Boss Battle as it were. Owch!

In other news; I've really started to get to grips with some new 'wares (both hard and soft) this past week, and simultaneously new demos have sprung up like baby spring shoots...Maybe I'll share something soon if you're good? Either way, a NEW album is surely in tha works...
