Man, I always forget that we have a MySpace profile. I feel like most people gave it up for Facebook, yeah?
Well, for the diehards, here's an update:
• "You Don't Have To Win, But You Have To Fight." - The CD's are here. We actually had those for October tour. You can order them now in the Magic Bullet webstore or just wait until they are in stores on January 12, 2010. - The 10"s are almost done. I approved the tests a couple of weeks ago. - I'm putting together a cool box thing that will have the 10", the CD, a shirt, sticker, and stuff like that. It will be both limited and inexpensive. Woo.
• Radio interview from The Fest: Sound Scene Revolution asked me if I could come over to their hotel room to do an interview. I brought Andy and Graham with me for the lulz. It's a long one, but you can hear the audio here:
• Side-project mode: Brad's about to do a lot of touring with Worn in Red, so the rest of us are in side project mode yet again. Boo/Yay. Here's what's already happened: - MEDITATIVE SECT: Graham + Brent + Mike Haley + Sean Connolly - just recorded at least a couple albums' worth of material up in Wilmington, DE. Tape releases coming on 905 Tapes, vinyl on Magic Bullet. Live shows coming this spring upon record(s) release. - BIG CHINA & LITTLE TROUBLE: Brent + Mike Haley - just recorded a new 12" and tape for Magic Bullet and 905. Also played the first live show. Video is here:
I think that's it?
Oh yeah, Magic Bullet opened up a retail store. Lots of records and tons of skateboard stuff. Come on by: 604 Caroline St. Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
Here's the shop's Facebook page:

Hey!
Real quick:
- Thanks for the rad show experiences and new faces we met/partied with this summer. It felt good.
- "You Don't Have To Win, But You Have To Fight" 10"/CD is so so so so close! Congleton is putting the last few touches that we wanted into the mix and then it's up to Nick Z for mastering. Getting there. I'm pushing ahead on art so that we can have something or rather for October.
- What's October? First weekend will be with Golden City. Then we're doing the entire end of the month with Worn in Red down to The Fest 8. With fucking SAMIAM... one of our favorite bands collectively.
- Rorschach reunion show is on for September 23. Richmond VA @ Alley Katz. Rorschach, Pulling Teeth, Forensics. See you there.
Later, Brent

http://www.scenepointblank.com/reviews/2604 Forensics Sonic Victimization UnitDeathscreamPosted on Monday August 31st, 2009 Magic Bullet, 2009Author: BobScore: 8.0 / 10Related LinksAbout the only comment that I could muster when I saw the existence of this release was an extremely emphatic, "NICE! A new Forensics record," before promptly heading over to the Magic Bullet web store and ordering the extremely limited CD (only 88 copies and a few additional that did not meet the artistic standards of the group). Even though Brent Eyestone (vocalist and guitarist of Forensics, sole member of Aughra, member of Meditative Sect) will be quick to point out that Deathscream is not a proper Forensics release but rather the result of quickly composing something for people when they played this past Mac Rock (all of the members could not play so the band improvised); this CD is the recording of the practices for that event. Renaming the release as Forensics Sonic Victimization Unit, Brent and Graham (from Souvenir's Young America) and Daniel (a former Magic Bullet intern) produce four sonic landscapes that comprise of guitars and circuit bending theatrics that really sound like a logical extension of Forensics' Hogback Mountain Sessions Vol. 1.
Part strange marriage of noisy guitar feedback and oscillating tape sounds, part ambient sound, Deathscream provides a harrowing mood for the short amount of time that this EP plays on one's choice of amplification. Personally, the ease of being able to lose one's self in the atmosphere that these three gentlemen create is both thrilling and disturbing at the same time. There were several times that by the middle of “The Infernal Machinations of Hell's Grim Tyrant” that I realized my mind was completely zoned out and not where it should be. The creepy sounds permeate through all four compositions and the nagging thought at the back of my mind is how crazy this release truly is. Seriously, all of this record is improvised and the individual pieces were culled from who knows how much material that the group played while gearing up for their performance. I am of the belief that this record is a whole, and even though there are four separate pieces, it is difficult to segregate these as “songs” and may even be a disservice to Deathscream to do so.
Deathscream is further evidence that Forensics (and Forensics Sonic Victimization Unit) has a breadth of collective ability that works in just about any form of output that the group produces; from their more “rock” oriented material found on works such as their album Things to do When You Should be Dead Anyway to the more free-form noise and soundscape material like this CD, the band seems comfortable in whatever skin it chooses to perform as. The artwork on this release is equally superb with silk screened covers and such that just adds to the overall presentation of the package and flat out unique quality. Magic Bullet truly offers releases that beg to be purchased and treasured by treating them as more than just music to be consumed but rather as art to be appreciated. It looks like you're not registered! Click here to join so you can comment.

Hey everyone -
As some of you may already know, Magic Bullet Records has a partnership with GimmeSound, a new site where you can download virus-free, high-quality "official" Mp3's AT NO COST. The bands and label get paid via advertising subsidies.
Heard enough? Cool, then head on over to:
http://www.gimmesound.com/Forensics/
and start pulling songs down.
I uploaded the first EP, the full length, the stuff from the split with Textbook Traitors, the Green Lion 7", a couple of live songs from the last time we played the Middle East in Boston, the song from the split with Kelly Osbourne, and other rarities.
Enjoy, Brent

Notes on Integrity "Vvalpürgisnacht" : The recent vow of getting the label back to its early roots in spirit, packaging, and more "lifer"-oriented bands continues on, this time in the form of a very special release from a band that needs very little introduction: INTEGRITY. After being put in touch via mutual friends, Dwid and I exchanged several emails about some cool projects that we could work on. Given our mutual appreciation for hardcore music, skateboarding, DIY, and the efforts of artists like Pushead, ideas flowed and things fell into place very quickly.
First up is a very special CD to kick things off right. In many ways a tribute to Pushead's days running the Bacteria Sour label, "Vvalpürgisnacht" features hand-screened cover art, a hand-screened skull logo patch, an insert featuring lyrics and an illustration from Florian Bertmer, the two tracks that comprised the 7" on A389 Records, plus two SEPTIC DEATH covers thrown in for full homage vibes. A stamped and hand-numbered edition of 666 copies is now available from my webstore and will be with the band at future shows. Non-numbered copies will be available in independent stores this month.
Fair warning: in the coming days, I will be offering this CD in a limited box set (100 made) with a t-shirt featuring Florian's "Sandra Good" illustration (a collaboration with friends at Shirts & Destroy) as well as a "Vvalpügisnacht" skateboard deck that will come with a free copy of the CD under the shrinkwrap. A separate/stand-alone "Vvalpügisnacht" shirt will also be made available in the coming weeks. So if you intend to pick up one of the box sets, a deck, or shirt, feel free to hold off on ordering until those items are in stock.

MBL124 : INTEGRITY "VVALPÜRGISNACHT" CD
- 2 new INTEGRITY songs and 2 exclusive SEPTIC DEATH covers - All copies feature silkscreened cover artwork - Special hand-numbered/stamped edition for Magic Bullet mailorder and INTEGRITY shows (numbered to 666) - All copies include silkscreened patch and offset insert featuring artwork from Florian Bertmer - You can try out/download the entire recording for free at gimmesound.com/Integrity - PLEASE NOTE: we are issuing both a CD/shirt box set very soon AND a CD/skateboard deck package soon. Just a heads up so you're not like "awww fuck" later...

Notes on Forensics: Sonic Victimization Unit "Deathscream" : Out here in Virginia, we have this annual festival called Macrock. It's been around for a while and changes hands every 3-4 years or so. Anyway, depending on who's in charge for any given year, we'll either get asked to play it or we'll have to apply to play it. Last year was an application year, so we put in the application and just kind of forgot about it. A couple of weeks before the event, they finally announced who was playing. In true bass-player fashion, our guy Andy figured we weren't going to do it on such short notice and went off on a snowboarding expedition. Not being one for canceling and seeing that we were slated for the "metal showcase" (kinda notorious for being in oversized, off-site venues with not nearly enough bodies to fill them), the idea was hatched to do an alter ego set with guitars, electronics, and all kinds of circuit-bent goodness.
So myself, Graham, and former Magic Bullet intern Daniel Bachman got together one spring weekend and jammed on some material that we'd play the following Friday at Macrock. That rehearsal session was recorded and edited throughout the week for a C-45 that we made 50 copies of for the show. After playing 30 minutes in front of like... 12 people, we came home and got rid of the remaining tapes in a couple of days via the webstore. After getting enough "awww duuuude, I wanted one"s, it's now being issued on CD with a hand-screened cover featuring art that I signed and numbered.
Some of the covers came in with some slight imperfections, so they're not included in the signed/numbered edition. Instead, they're being sold as a "DIY edition" for $5 ppd for anyone who doesn't care about the whole signed/numbered/pristine aspect and just wants the jamz.

MBL126 : FORENSICS: SONIC VICTIMIZATION UNIT "DEATHSCREAM" CD
- 4 songs, 28 minutes of material created for a special alter ego noise set at Macrock 2009 - All copies feature silkscreened cover artwork designed by band member Brent Eyestone - 2 editions: signed/numbered (out of 88) vs. DIY (no signing/numbering, slight silkscreening imperfections) - All copies include silkscreened patch - You can try out/download the entire recording for free at gimmesound.com/ForensicsSonicVictimizationUnit

Notes on "Sticky Icky" : Every couple of years, my brother Mark (who owns the local skate shop) and I collaborate on a new skate DVD that documents all of the rad kids who rip in this surprisingly fertile tiny town we live in. This year's video is definitely my favorite... mainly because the kids in it are just so talented and so ambitious. This thing took us into more countries and onto more continents than any of the previous. Pretty much the only places not hit were Antarctica and Africa... haha. Anyway, this one runs about 40 minutes and features all kinds of Magic Bullet bands and friends. And at $6 ppd, I hope you'll enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed putting it all together.

MBL420 : STICKY ICKY SKATEBOARDING DVD
- Third collaborative DVD between Magic Bullet Records and Fredericksburg Skateboards documents modern skateboarding across multiple continents and countries - View the full trailer at YouTube - Soundtrack features JESUIT, LOSER LIFE, RINGFINGER, AUGHRA, and many more - Hand-built packaging features custom-made stickers and reclaimed/recycled kraft digipaks

Notes on Loser Life "I Have Ghosts and I Have Ghosts" : I think it's been a couple years since I've had this LP in stock... way too long. It was a split with 16oh and Mism (who still have copies of the OG press). Anyway, the band really wanted as much merch as possible for their extensive tours of the U.S. and Europe this summer, so I put together a new tour/mailorder cover design to distinguish it from the original. Only being sold on Loser Life summer 2009 tour dates and in the webstore... 175 on gray-ish marble and 25 on red marble. This thing still rages.

MBL093-1 : LOSER LIFE "I HAVE GHOSTS AND I HAVE GHOSTS" LP (SECOND PRESS)
- Second pressing: 175 on mixed marble, 25 copies on red marble - Brand new design features silkscreened cover - Coupon for free downloads included in every jacket - You can try out/download the entire recording for free at gimmesound.com/LoserLife

Just a quick update on things going on right now:
- Tracking for "You Don't Have To Win, But You Have To Fight" (new CD/10") is officially completed. John Congleton will be mixing it when he gets back from tour next month and then it's off to be pressed. I'm really happy with how everything turned out... Graham's shredding and Brad's drumming have really pushed the sound forward and I'm excited for people to hear what we've been up to.
- This weekend, come to Fredericksburg and party with us. For free. Fredericksburg Skateboards and Magic Bullet Records are premiering "Sticky Icky," the latest collaborative skate DVD together. Forensics is playing the Saturday premiere. University Cafe (409 William St) at 7PM sharp. FREE, so get there early to ensure entry.
- After this, we've got Dudefest and a one-off in Dayton, OH. Check the shows section for details.
- After that, Alaska and Best Friends Day in August. Some details are in the shows section, many more are coming.
- Ready for some shit? Forensics and our new friends Pulling Teeth will be supporting the almighty RORSCHACH at their Richmond reunion show on September 23. Details on venue, etc. forthcoming. I'm chomping at the bit for this one.
- Forensics: Sonic Victimization Unit (an alter ego feat. myself, Graham, and Daniel Bachman) are about to release "Deathscream," a limited CD documenting material we put together for this past spring's Macrock festival. I'll post here when it's for sale. Just finished signing and numbering the art... real stoked on the results.
I think that's it? Either way, just wanted to let everyone know what's going on over here, as it's definitely the most active we've been in years.
Thanks for the continued support, friends! Brent

Hey everyone -
Some really cool news to report: Brad's been published!
As some of you might know, Brad works with the Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance. Among many things, his duties involve a lot of coordinating and education efforts with other like-minded individuals and groups nationwide and from around the world. This is something he's felt passionate about for many years and we're all super proud and supportive of the job he's done.
Most recently, Brad has penned a chapter for a new anthology titled "YES MEANS YES: Visions of Female Sexual Power & A World Without Rape." Below is more information about it. If you're so inclined, please pick up a copy!
--
YES MEANS YES: Visions of Female Sexual Power & A World Without Rape Yes Means Yes is a groundbreaking new look at rape, edited by writer and activist Jaclyn Friedman and Feministing.com founder Jessica Valenti. Through the anthology — and now this blog — we’re trying to move beyond “no means no” to connect the dots between the shaming and co-option of female sexuality in our culture(s) and some of the ways rape is allowed and encouraged to function.
