Current mood:WRITING
Better late than never, right?

"The breakdowns are crushing, the wall of guitars relentlessly tears your ears, and the screamed/harshly yelled vocals are synonyms to words like angry, passionate, convincing [...] only way to describe the situation is to call it utterly desperate." - Rockfreaks.net

So here's the latest.  We haven't made one of these in at least a year.  Well first off, check out our new layout and tell us what you think.  Thanks to Mr. Jon Hughes.

Speaking of, we would like to think Jon for taking over as a manager for us.  We have been a band for 6 years now and we all have so much going on in our lives with kids, work and so forth that it is hard to juggle everything.  He has been helping out so much from doing our new layout, finding someone to book us, which I'll get to in a second, to promoting the hell out of us.  It sure does make it easier to find time to spend with our families and jam at the same time.  Fucking a Jon!

Next up we have Adler from Lost Penguin Media who will be helping taking over booking duties.  If anyone wants to Fight Pretty to jam in your town, then you can get a hold of him at brian@lostpenguinmedia.com.  Now we don't have to stay up till 7 am and be at work at 9 am trying to book shows and hope that we get on them.  He can do that!

Also incase you haven't noticed at a recent show or by the myspace, we have a pretty new line up which we are confident will hold up.  We have  Brian Saxenian on guitars and Pete Sosa on drums.  These 2 complete Fight  Pretty.  We're seriously fucking stoked.

Next up we have a new demo, but you can't hear it!  You can check out a live video for one of the new songs entitled "The Thin White Line" right here:

Speaking of new demo, this is our 2nd demo for our upcoming album on our future home at some label that we have no idea of called "Smoke Filled Womb".  We can't wait till you hear it.  We have been working hard on it for the past 2 years and hope that you think it's worth as much as we do. All I'm saying is prepare to get chills.

Finally we will be hitting the road with our best friends in She Rides for a week or so in July.  We are heading out to Significant Fest in which we are also really happy to be a part of.  You can check out more info on the fest here:

''In light of some recent comments stating that I don't know anything about hardcore and shouldn't be writing about it, I'd like to tell you a little about the the latest album from Fight Pretty. The album (released in 2006) is called Ghosts Along The Brazos and on it this Lake Jackson, Texas band blasts through 12 tracks of angst-laded metallic hardcore as if their lives depended on it. Much in the vein of Converge or (perhaps) Deadguy, blast-beat drumming and breakneck tempo shifts serve as the mangled skeleton for screeching guitars, rumbling bass, and throat-shredding vocals. A bit sloppy in places, Ghosts Along The Brazos is more concerned with the overall feeling and emotional content than it is about technical mastery. All in all, a pretty good album from a band that (even a year after the album's release) remains relatively unknown. Fight Pretty also has a new album coming out in a matter of weeks called Rewiring The Human Body... that I'll be sure to check out as well.''-can you see the sunset from the southside

for what its worth, ive been cursed
with living out what my life is worth.
for what its worth, ive been cursed.
to holding on to what my name is worth
and my hands are tied.
bound and gagged.
and trust me they'll make you eat your young. x4
ive been cursed, for what its worth.
and we're walking down the same fucking streets are fathers have crawled before. x 4
THIS IS THE town ill fucking die in
THIS IS MY life and your fucking out
THIS IS THE town ill fucking die in
THIS IS MY life and your fucking out.

((this song is about the misery of the everyday grind and smalltown life in general, maybe you can relate.))

WE WILL END UP DYING IN SUCH OPPOSITE WAYS
Lend me your ears, and rent out your mind.
Stay young forever. Still die in due time.
Still filling cracks, nothing ever lasts.
Staying young forever, now means suffer until later.
And we're too young to be ready to die.
A pretty picture through an ugly eye. To hopeless to care.
We're too pretty to fight...
Forever’s going to start tonight.
Forever’s going to start tonight.
(And we'll only be making it right.)
Forever’s going to start tonight
(And we'll only be making it right.)
Forever’s going to start tonight.

DEAD END CELEBRATION
The time goes so fast.
I’m pushing back, holding back,
looking back at things I can’t take back.
But it’s over now and all that’s left
is my distorted thoughts of how life was.
I’m still dreaming of those
better times, better lives. The ones I let go.
The lost sleep, the dead ends. They drive me insane.
But I’m not quitting on myself now.
This time I won’t let myself fail.
