Posted on February 19, 2009 by crimsoncup It's JUNKER!! (That's what they call me at The Cup) A few years back a good friend of mine said, “Work to get by and do what you love on the side”. As a musician, it’s not always easy to make a living doing what you love and so you do just that….work to get by and play music on the side. For a few years, I had a regular 8 to 5 job that I liked and played at a couple things like local coffee shops ....read more here!

Just before Christmas I had a great chance to go out and see other coffee houses in the Crimson Cup Community. Now you won't find them elsewhere under the name Crimson Cup but our presence is.... well present. On one of the colder days of this month, I ventured out to Pataskala, Ohio too see our friends at Smoothie Brews. Now, I lived there for a few years but never ventured this far out unless i was lost. So there I am driving along 310 in the middle of the afternoon when all of a sudden and out of what seemed like nowhere, this little strip mall appears to my left. The term strip mall is a very generous, for it was not but three attached businesses and I could only enter from the south bound lane. Well once I got in there it was much different than what I had expected. First of all the size and how open it was caught my attention. I was greeted by a loan, friendly barista (who's name shamefully escapes me) and we began to talk of coffee and of the happenings at their store. She showed me around the store and what kind of decorum they were using for Christmas and the children's area. Yes, they had a children's area! "> I must say that it was a first for me seeing that in a coffee shop! "> My next stop was at newly opened 5 Bean Coffee in Reynoldsburg: "> This was my favorite stop! Stacy, the owner, showed my how she had done all the design work and was very excited to be part of the Crimson Cup Community. If you are an Ikea fan, then this shop is definitely for you! It's a blast getting to visit our other stores and seeing who else has the same passion as we do! Happy New Year! CC

Well folks Christmas has come and gone and with 2009 just around the corner it's been rather hectic! I certain hope you al had a wonderful holiday weekend because we here at the Cup sure did! The week before Christmas we had several events in a row to help get in the spirit. On Friday the 18th, aspiring photographer, Rob Sellan put up his work for a show. He is a high school senior and will be studying Photography at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He certainly packed out the place with family, friends and fans! "> "> The next evening was a sort of Farewell to barista Christopher Crawford who is moving to California after the first of the year. He and his friend Nik played for an hour and entertained everyone as the shop closed. Then on Saturday the 20th Crimson Cup World Wide Headquarters' own Chris Junker and Brother Michael played some fun folk and Christmas tunes. Aside from a few technical difficulties, the evening went well and what a way to kick off the week of Christmas! "> Well until next time, CC HAPPY NEW YEAR!

How I Became a Crimson Cupper… Bryan Hairston I was working in a Worthington Mall cafe called Darci’s when I met Greg Ubert. He would come down in the evening to drop off some coffee samples, and we would end up conversing because that is the type of guy I am. At any rate, we started using three of his whole bean coffees and that is when I met Armando Escobar. One evening he came in....read more here!

Hello Everyone, As some of you know, there have been several coffeehouse robberies in the Columbus area. A few weeks ago one of our employees was robbed at gun point while opening Crimson Cup Coffeehouse. Fortunately, he was not injured but the assailant did manage to clean out the safe. As you can imagine, this incident has shaken us up, and we have begun looking into additional security measures; we want to ensure our employees are 100% safe. While this is fresh in our minds we wanted to take a few minutes to thank the community for continuing to support us through this rough time. Have a great weekend everybody and be safe!!! With the temperatures quickly dropping we decided to warm things up a bit. I honor of Military Appreciation we gave all current military personnel and Veterans a free drink of their choice. We are very thankful for the job they do and have done so it's only a slight token of our appreciation. To all of you over seas, home, in hospitals, or who have paid the ultimate price we say THANK YOU for all you and your families have given! "> ">

Think of your favorite fall traditions: Seeing the leaves turn, pumpkin carving, hay rides, etc. Well we at Crimson Cup love it all! But the one tradition we really got into at the coffeehouse was dressing up and decorating for Halloween! Imagine walking into your favorite coffeehouse and being served a latte by Carmen Miranda! No she didn't " awaken" to serve espresso drinks just for one night. Assistant Manager, Angela Lopez was able to keep her spirit alive (pun fully intended) as she dance and shimmied around the espresso machine. Then there's Manager Steve Bayless dressed as one of the Columbus Blue Jackets with a black eye. He says that it was just eye shadow but it was probably something closer to this: During one of Angela's dances a piece of ornate plastic fruit (probably mango) went sailing across the coffee shop just as Steve was frothing some milk for a cappuccino. The projectile fruit interacted with Mr. Bayless's ocular region most harshly, hence the black eye. Ok I may have gotten a little carried away..... Well all in all it was a great day and full of fun and costumes! Passing out candy and coupons for a free hot chocolate and seeing what our customers dressed up as is always a pleasure.Serving up the " ZOMBIE LATTE was definitely a treat. You have to hand it to a man who can take a Pumpkin Spice Latte and make it look like oozing brains. I guess grotesque nature of Halloween knows no boundaries. Till next time, CC

Posted on October 30, 2008 by bryankhairstonI have always thought everyone should try to work a position in a service capacity at least once in their lifetime. This way people can experience what it is like to deal with someone who is like them! Can you imagine how the guy who is foaming at the mouth because the last everything bagel was sold would react to himself?! This would be interesting because people who yell... Read more here
