Pumpkins being dropped from overpass onto moving vehicles

Fayette County has been my home for most of my life and I care deeply about what goes on here. There is a disturbing trend develping and I would like to take the time to speak about it for a few minutes.

There is an overpass that crosses Route 119/40 at the base of Mount Summit here in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Many vehicles have been struck by pumpkins and other large objects that have been dropped as vehicles pass under the bridge by persons unknown.

I am not sure what kind of a mind thinks that this is enjoyable but this needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Someone will end up paying the ultimate price...their life. A pumpkin impacting the windshield of an automobile traveling at more than sixty miles per hour is lethal!

My greatest fear is that one of these lowlifes will strike a vehicle with an infant in the backseat. I think about this alot and I am very worried that this may happen soon. If this continues...our community is going to suffer a great loss and these assholes will be laughing each and every time they hear about this on the news.

I can only hope that perhaps they are reading these words. Perhaps they will consider what I am saying because I live here too and I have children that I love very much. They should realize that as members of this area we will not stand for this.

I will be watching this overpass and should I see someone up there with a pumpkin or other large object it should be known that I will not call the police. I'll simply call an ambulance to peel their busted up carcus from the road below. It's that simply.

November 15, 2009 - Sunday

by Amanda Conroy

Alright Fayette County, it's time to start supporting our less fortunate young ones that provide us with happiness all year long!

Do you remember being five years old and waking your parents up at five o'clock in the morning; overwhelmed with happiness, screaming "Santa came!  Santa came!"?

Could you image your life without these memories?  Well unfortunately in today's economy, many of our own local youth are going up without such memories.  It is extremely sad to think of, but many parents do not have the opportunity and resources to provide a happy Christmas for their little ones.

With the First Annual Fayette County Jam for Toys, we have the opportunity to pull together and change this unfortunate circumstance.  Society of the D.E.A.D. with leader Sandman has pulled together a magnificent team of volunteers who are donating time to make a difference in today's society-specifically Fayette County.

On December 5th, a show will be held at Mahony's bar located on Fayette Street in Uniontown.  From 7p.m. to close, four incredible bands (Needlescrape, The R4 Project, Circle7, and Beyond Daylight) will rock the house as ZTalkRadio, with host Sandman, will interview band members and supporters.

This benefit show has a five dollar cover charge at the door, or five toys around a buck a piece.  All proceeds will go to providing a Christmas dinner and toys for our less fortunate little ones.

The dinner will be held on the 19th.  Santa Clause will be there with one of his favorite reindeer and toys will be placed in the hands of over 1000 bundles of joys.  Drawings will also be held, in which a Christmas Tree and other items will be handed to families in need of a helping hand.  Any leftover food after the dinner will be donated to a local food bank or a similar charity.  Games will also be available to the little ones to keep them happily occupied
.

Please...help us support those in need.  I know word travels fast on myspace...take two minutes of your time and foward this to everyone possible.

First Annual Fayette County Jam for Toys can provide memories for our little ones that will last a lifetime.  Any support is needed and greatly appreciated-food (specifically Christmas dinner items,) clothes, toys, even money.  We are also seeking more volunteers-any amount of time donated WILL help and make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Smokey and the Sandman
To steal a line from a Vin Diesel movie..."I love anything fast enough to do something stupid in"...I suppose that line would be a great way to open this article. Yesterday was a rather busy day. On the top of my list of things to do was to buy an automobile.

I ended up purchasing a 1994 Buick LeSabre with the 170 horsepower 3800 series V6. A gutsy engine to say the very least. I probably should have had the car towed home because I was not prepared with the proper paperwork to register it. I thought about this for about half a second before I said "Fuck it" and jumped in behind the wheel. My buddy was willing to let me use his plate to get it home but I took it off after an hour or so and replaced it with an old one that I had brought with me. I was a bit worried about getting him into trouble if I were to get pulled over.

I was pleased with my new ride until the alternator went out but even this did not dampen my spirits. I simply purchased a second battery from Wal-Mart to get me home. I would worry about replacing the bad alternator later.

On my way home I found that Mount Summit had little effect on the automobile's speed. It finally got to the point that I had to back her down because 80 miles an hour up Summit was a bit too fast for the turns.

I reached into my shirt pocket as I cruised down the other side of the mountain to grab a Marlboro..."only two left...that's not good". No big deal though. There was a 24 hour Sunoco station about five miles ahead. About a mile from the station my luck ran out. A Pennsylvania State Trooper in a Ford Interceptor going the other direction. I had no reason to believe he would come back after me because the car looked legal enough but he whipped his Ford around in a hurry and kicked on the lights. "Now what the fuck was I going to do"? There was only one choice. I nailed it and before I knew it the 100 mile per hour speedometer was buried.

I decided that I had little chance of outrunning him on Route 40 so I cut the wheel hard and locked the back brakes up. The LeSabre slid nicely onto an old country road where I was fairly certain that I could loose him.

There was a full moon out so I killed my headlights. No need to advertise my position.
A look into my rearview mirror revealed he was still back there. In the next instance, I crested the top of a small hill at more than 90 miles an hour. The car left the road and glided ever so gently over a barbed wire fence and landed in a field about twenty feet off the road.. There was very little damage from the freeflight except for a few exhaust pieces left in the field and a rather close encounter with a small tree but the damage was minimal.

I kicked the pedal back down to the floor as soon as my front tires found the pavement again. The Trooper had a similiar experience with the small hill. He landed in nearly the same spot that I did. A look into my rearview mirror revealed he was fine but he was fishtailing around in the field attempting to find the traction that he needed to get back onto the paved road.

I took advantage of this and put as much distance in between us as I could. After a few minutes there was no sign of pursuit. I was lucky...and a bit stupid...I'm getting too old for this shit.

You were in the Navy...Now you're in Prison

You know...every now and again a story comes along that really makes me loose some of my faith in mankind and today was one of those days. I was jumping around the internet as I commonly do when I came upon a story...a story that left me shocked and appalled.

Our story shall focus around a certain United States Navy Recruiter that we shall refer to as Mister Smith...I should probably mention that he is now a former United States Navy Recruiter due to the actions that I am about to disclose to you.

Now before I go on please let me emphasize the complete respect that I hold for those that wear the uniform of our armed forces...these men and women are heros in every sence of the word but every now and again a bad apple slips through.

Mister Smith not only betrayed each and everyone of us but he betrayed the uniform that he so proudly wore. While surfing Craig's list in search of sexual contacts, Smith came upon a listing that offered an eleven year old girl for sexual consumption at a price.

Luckily for us the ad was a sting operation and there was no eleven year old girl. Smith met with the undercover agent to negotiate a price...he actually showed up wearing his uniform...this sickens me.

Smith offered the sum of sixty dollars for sexual intercourse and an additional twenty dollars so he would not have to wear a condom. Are your stomachs turning out there...mine is. This lowlife wearing the uniform of our country showed up with the intent of sex with a minor.

He plead guilty last July and was sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison. At least this story has a happy ending because I am certain that Smith is in no way enjoying the sex he is receiving these days.

The Death Penalty...with a twist.

Capital punishment has always been a delicate subject. My own views concerning this highly charged topic may be somewhat more bazaar than the opinions held by the general population.

With that having been said I would like to continue along this line of thought. There must be more to this arguement than the debate as to whether or not we should execute capital offenders.

I not only support the death penality...I think that we should take it to the next level. Some crimes demand the ultimate payment but I'm not certain this is enough. I think something more is required. What about the family of the victim? Isn't there something more that we can do for them? There is actually.

Once someone has murdered another human being...not manslaughter but premeditated murder...I believe that person is no longer derserving of the rights that we enjoy on a daily basis.

We can start off with something simple such as his or her executation being televised on a pay-per-view basis with a large portion of the revenue going to the victim's family. This would not only benefit the loved ones left behind but it would also serve as a deterent to other would be offenders.

We all know that capital punishment exists but very few people have ever witnessed such an event so it is not something that stands out in our minds. But even this is not enough in my mind. We need to take it to yet another level.

Perhaps we can allow one of the family members to actually throw the switch or pull the trigger. Too brutal? I don't think so. If someone were to kill one of my children I would be more than happy to end that person's life.

I could perform that task with a clear conscience and I suspect that many of you could do the same. If you subscribe to the mindset that taking a human life can not be justified under any circumstances then I respect your opinion but that does not mean that I have to hold it in very high regard.

This world is full of scum bags that would kick the shit out of your grandmother just to get the cash that they need for their next fix. Don't even give me that line of bullshit that they are sick individuals in need of medical treatment...they chose the path they are on even if they feel that they can not stop now.

Even now...I feel that we can take this to yet another level. A level high enough to not only financially benefit the victim's family but to...at the very least...partially feed the hunger for revenge that they must be feeling.

A hunt...a hunt for the most cunning prey in the world...a human being. This pay-per-view event could be set in a controlled enviorment...an island perhaps with many remote cameras to capture all of the action...all of the fear. The fear that his or her victim must have felt before their lives were taken from them.

The hunting party could consist of professional big game hunters or even the family of the victim should they decide that they wanted to participate. Have no doubts though...this would be an execution...there would be no chance of escape or survival.

Well...there you go...my thoughts on capital punishment. Brutal? Yes...they are. Over the line? I don't think so. Of course there is always the chance of an innocent man being executed but that happens now...the system is not perfect but at least with such ideas as I have presented here it might be a bit more rewarding.

McDonald's impressed me with their rapid responce to my complaint.

Last month, several friends and myself were headed into Ohio on a day trip. It was enjoyable for the most part.

Hunger set in so we stopped at a McDonald's in Cadiz, Ohio. I like McDonald's food from time to time but this experience was not going to be a good one.

The restrooms were in such a state of filth that it shocked me. I do not think that they had been cleaned in over a week. I contacted McDonald's over this and they responded in a matter of a few days.

Below is my original complaint followed by their rapid responce. I am most pleased with the way in which they addressed my concerns.

Hello
I simply wanted to notify you that we made a visit to your Cadiz, Ohio location while traveling and we were shocked at the condition of the restrooms.

Mc Donald's is generally known for very clean restrooms but it was so bad that we did not even want to remain in the building after recieving our food order.

We ate in the parking lot and after having been in your restrooms we had very little urge to eat afterward but it was a long trip and we were hungry.

This was a very negative experience and we can only hope that this is not something that we will find in other McDonald's locations.

Perhaps I am being overly critical but I do not think that clean restrooms are too much to expect...especially in an establishment such as McDonald's.

Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint.

Christmas Dinner and Toys for the Underpriveleged of Fayette County

Christmas...what a wonderful time of year. I have many fond memories from years gone by. I believe that my happiest recollections stem from waking up on Christmas morning when I was but a young lad to find all of my childhood dreams waiting for me under the Christmas tree. I can not remember a happier time in my life.

I wish I could say that every child this Christmas will wake up to as fortunate a Christmas as I did but poverty is widespread here in Southwestern Pennsylvania and many children's Christmas dream's will go unfulfilled. It does not have to be that way though. We can make a difference.

Myself and many of my wonderful friends have started a fund drive that will place a much needed toy into the waiting hands of a young child in concert with a Christmas meal that will not soon be forgotten. Santa will also be there with his sleigh and a single reindeer.

Help us make this dream come true by reaching into your hearts and sending a small donation. Whether you send a dollar or twenty dollars it will go a long way in the eyes of a child that will know very little Christmas cheer this year.

This event will take place on December 19th. Many wonderful individuals have volunteered their time and efforts to make this a reality. We are uncertain as to the location as of this posting but we are activily seeking many firehalls in the immediate area to allow us the use of their hall for that day.
Donations are needed at this point in the form of:

Toys...Dollar Store items work nicely but used toys will be just as loved by a child. We will also be placing toy dropoff containers in various spots around Fayette county. If you are a business owner that has an active lobby area you could help us and the children greatly by allowing us to place one of these containers at your place of business

Canned food items. Traditional Christmas dinner items would be great but anything that we could use to set a bountiful table would be wonderful. If we have additional...non-perishable...food items left over after the Christmas dinner these items will be donated to a local food bank or other similiar charity.

Christmas decorations. Any type of decoration that you could donate for use in the hall would put many smiles on the faces of the children. Please let us know if you wish these items to be returned after the Christmas dinner...otherwise we intend to place them into storage to be used again at next years dinner.

Clothing. We will also have a clothing drive. Donated items will be placed in containers at the doors. They will be free to anyone that needs them. Do not be concerned as to the type of clothing because it is difficult to determine what needs exist out there. All items will be washed before we place them in the bins at the dinner.

Please make checks or money orders payable to:

David Burnsworth
524 Race Street Apartment # 1
Connellsville, PA 15425

If you would care to make your donation in the form of a toy please ship to:

Sandman Kelley
699 Beaver Creek Road

Markleysburg, Pennsylvania 15459
or if you prefer you may contact us for pickup or use one of our dropoff containers which will be placed around Fayette County beginning in November.

Please mark all donations "Christmas Fund". Thank you ever so much and Merry Christmas.

The Titanic Endeavor Tour is Seeking Sponsors
The Titanic Endeavor Tour...a project being undertaken by Society of the D.E.A.D. (Direct Evidence After Death) is an ambitious project that...if successful...will bring back the first recorded evp's...(Electronic Voice Phenomenon) from the location where the RMS Titanic sank those many years ago back in April of 1912.
With a bit of luck and plenty of dedication, we may even bring back evidence beyond the level of evp's. An expedition to this location for the purpose of paranormal research has never been done...or even attempted. The expedition will take place on April 14/15 of 2010.

There will be more than paranormal research being conducted while we are on this site though. As you are no doubt aware, the Titanic's condition is degrading rapidly.

We plan to take a side scan sonar image of the vessel so that we may determine her current condition. Rust colonies are consuming this grand old lady at the rate of 240 pounds per day.
At some point within the next few decades her hull will no doubt cave in upon itself. That will be a sad day for a vessel that has stood proud on the ocean floor for nearly a century.

Her history has been one that has touched each and everyone of us. We wish to preserve this history as best we can and to create a sonar image that will aid in her future.

This expedition will not include diving on the site. The research that we intend to do can be done on the surface with the exception of a few underwater microphones that we intend to lower down a few hundred feet.

Respect is of paramount concern to us which is why we will be conducting a memorial service as well. Prior to leaving the site we will be placing 1533 white roses into the water. One for each victim.

Generating the funding for this project is slow going but it is coming together though. We are currently in negotiations to sell the film rights for the documentary that we will be filming during this investigation entitled "Titanic...You Know Their History...Now Hear Their Voices".

This may not be enough to insure the needed funds to will this project into reality though. We are asking you to attach your name to this project by becoming a sponsor.

There are many ways to do this. You can simply purchase one of the white roses that we will place in the water as a tribute...roses cost five dollars each...or you can simply become a contributor by making a donation to this expedition.

All sponsors will have their name and or business or media venue forever attached to this project. As project leader...you have my word that you will be listed in the end credits of the documentary...all literature that we release and the book that I will be releasing of the same title after the project has been completed. I will also send you a letter written in my own hand to thank you for aiding us with this project.

We are going to make paranormal history...join us in this venture. Thank you for taking the time to read this bulletin and help us bring the science to you and the world.

To purchase a rose or make a donation simply send a check or money order to:

David A. Burnsworth
524 Race Street Apt. # 1
Connellsville, Pennsylvania 15425

Please mark the envelope "Titanic Rose Fund" or "Project Donation"

Remember to include your name...and address so that we can mail you a letter of gratitude. Your address will never be used for anything aside from mailing you the one time letter. If you do not wish to have your name attached, simply mark it as anonymous. Keep in mind that you can also purchase a rose or make a donation in the name of someone special to you as a gift to them.

My Sister...I wonder if she is still alive.

I grew up thinking that I had but one sister until I was seventeen years old. It was at this point that a private detective managed to track down my father.

I can still remember his first words when he had learned that she wanted to find him. "If she thinks that she's getting any fucking back child support she's about as smart as her mother".
Once again my father...Bill...had managed to be just as caring and thoughtful as he had always been with his other two children.

After he learned that she wanted nothing more than to get to know him he changed his tune and was ready to be the long lost father figure.

My sister...Dawn...was born in 1963. Bill even married her mother for a short time...three weeks to be precise. When it became clear that married life was not for him, he walked out the door never to return.

Dawn's mother told her that Bill had been killed in some sort of military action. She grew up believing that until she learned the truth after the death of her mother.

Bill told her...repeatedly...that he never knew she had been born and had he known he would have been a part of her life. She believed every fucking word.

She began to write me letters. I really did not know what to think of her. She would constantly say things like..."Isn't our father wonderful" or "I wish I could be with him everyday".

He made a trip down to Texas to visit her...soon afterward she came to Pennsylvania to meet the rest of us. She showed up with gifts and hugs.
I was happy to meet her but I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach because I knew from many past experiences how situations went that my father had any hand in.

Anyway...the way he talked about her and the way he treated her were very different. He would tell her how he loved her to her face and call her a cunt when she was not around.
She would not hear a negative word about him though so I just stepped back from the situation. There was nothing that I could do.

Dawn's husband had money and Bill done his best to work that aspect of the relationship as well. I do not know how much money that he worked her for but it was sizable. This went on for about a year.

Then Bill's world changed. He suffered a massive stroke and it was nearly fatal. He lost the ability to walk and his personality changed dramatically. He became bitter and very cruel...more-so than before.

I became his twenty four hour caregiver and the task was overwhelming...especially since this man had shown me such cruelity for most of my life.

One night he became pissed off at me and beat himself in the forehead until he had a large welt. Afterward, he called the State Police and reported that I had just severly beat him.
Within half an hour I was in hand cuffs and this dicklick of a cop was telling me how he was going to fuck me up later.

As fortune would have it...my mother returned home from work and put a stop to the entire affair. Bill had had a habit of doing such things when he did not get his own way.

The Trooper left with the message that he would be seeing me again...I pointed a finger at him and told him to "count on it". I never saw the asshole again.

Now the other shoe was about to drop. Dawn had heard of the night's events and flew to Pennsylvania the next day. She came to the house and demanded to remove her father. She called me a bastard and told me to go fuck myself as she left with Bill...the entire time he was smiling ear to ear.

That was almost twenty-two years ago and I never saw her again. Bill died in 2005 and I had no way to even let her know of his death.
The family did not know how to reach her either. Bill put the screws to her soon afterward as well...or so I heard...and she cut all contact.

I suppose that in her mind I am no better than he was which is why I suppose she has never attempted to find me over the years.

I did entertain the thought of locating her but her last name is Smith and that will make any search extremely difficult. Have a good life sister.
