ScienceDaily (Apr. 1, 2008) — Green tea can help beat superbugs according to Egyptian scientists speaking March, 31, 2008 at the Society for General Microbiology’s 162nd meeting.

The pharmacy researchers have shown that drinking green tea helps the action of important antibiotics in their fight against resistant superbugs, making them up to three times more effective.

Green tea is a very common beverage in Egypt, and it is quite likely that patients will drink green tea while taking antibiotics. The medical researchers wanted to find out if green tea would interfere with the action of the antibiotics, have no effect, or increase the medicines’ effects.

"We tested green tea in combination with antibiotics against 28 disease causing micro-organisms belonging to two different classes," says Dr Mervat Kassem from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Alexandria University in Egypt. "In every single case green tea enhanced the bacteria-killing activity of the antibiotics. For example the killing effect of chloramphenicol was 99.99% better when taken with green tea than when taken on its own in some circumstances."

Green tea also made 20% of drug-resistant bacteria susceptible to one of the cephalosporin antibiotics. These are important antibiotics that new drug resistant strains of bacteria have evolved to resist.

How strange that someone should find a cartoon picture of a pair of boobs in with my own pictures offensive it isn’t like it appears on my front page for all to see. The amount of filth I have seen on other peoples pages and nudity and I get my picture taken off. I am told not to take it personally well I have. I had only just posted that picture and within hours it is removed. How sad. There is also nowhere for me to make an appeal. It was, after all, only a pair of boobs and only a cartoon at that. Nothing more than a drawing. Nothing porn or rude. I appreciate there are standards but that was not offensive and it was done in good taste. The editors need to look around if they think that was bad. I am dissapointed..... Patch

Keep looking in this spot if you like frogs. They happen to be my favourite animal and are getting endangered in some places. Each year the frogs seem to arrive earlier for mating but this year we seem to be pretty much back to normal. The spawning was slightly down but the survival rate seems higher than normal even though we have had a spell of cold weather. I have changed the pond around and built a new one to put my Koi in so they don’t eat the tadpoles. I have left the goldfish and sticklebacks in the frog pond though to keep it natural. Goldfish are not interested in the tadpoles like Koi are, so they get along together. Some predation will still occure coming mostly from Draggon Fly lavae. I have an air stone in the pond because later when they are bigger they will consume a lot of the oxygen. I also create a small area under a bush or two for hybination protection. I do this by putting my prunings under the bushes to rot down naturally. This creates spaces to hide in. Once the small baby frogs arrive they will pay me back by keeping the insects under control that predate on my bedding plants. Fine frog friends finish off flipping foraging insects.

Just a bit of experienced trivia. For the best in scented gardens during dull months plant scented daffodils such as "Abba Cragford" or "Tripartite" both varieties are multi flowering and last some time. Good for cutting for indoor use but better left in the garden to give off their profusion of flowers and scent wufting into the atmosphere. To follow on from this I would have Hyacinth scattered all over the place and smell that perfume wherever I stand especially when there is a gentle breeze blowing. Next in succession comes Mahonia a small yellow flowering bush. Sometimes the perfume from this plant can be experienced at a distance of several metres. At the same time as this bush flowering I have got Magnolia. I prefer the star shaped which can be pruned after flowering and kept to a small neat size. In the background to all this I have winter flowering pansies. The large variety always has the best in scented smells. In early March I sew Night Scented Stock and again a month later for three months. This is perfect for those gentle evenings from May through August providing the temperatures are good. A nice cool beer with a full moon and staring in a daydream into the fish pond thinking of days gone by when perhaps I was a lot more agile and slightly more well off.

I get fed up of hearing people/countries saying us English are too easy. Let it be known it's our politicians making the decisions not us or even our opinion. Even when we vote a different party into power we get the same old shpill. If I lived in Saudi Arabia and made a comment about their leader I'd probably be executed at best. At worst tortured first. Yet Al Fyad accuses our royal family of being conspiritors and MI6 together with the press. Let us therefore take a leaf from the following. We might then feel patriotic toward a country we feel we are part of. France had the courage to act first in the schools now Australia speaks out and we in England along with America think we rule the world. We can't see the wood for the trees.

Prime Minister John Howard -  Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: ' IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on  Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

' This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

' We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society,  learn the language!'

' Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

' We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

' This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
' THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'
' If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

I write all my own lyrics for songs and poems. When I do this I try to imagine a generalization of what a situation could be like and not just an individual situation. The people I respect the most in life are those that get pleasure from the entertainment of other people. If someone is trying to entertain people with telling jokes, singing or acting or just clowning around, whether they are good or bad, in my book makes no difference if the pleasure they get is derived from the pleasure of the people they are entertaining and not doing it for their own bravado or a boost to their own ego.
In my everyday use of the English language one of the words that I find unnecessary to use is the word "basically". I never use the word myself under any circumstance although I do find it necessary sometimes to use the word basic or basics but never the word basically. This seems to have become the starting point for many peoples descriptions when they are trying to tell you about something or describe a certain situation. Try it yourself for a day and you will find that you sound more assertive to other people by simply not using this word.
