Wow what a day in Brisbane.  The Fete de la Musique was awesome.  Walking around the city having music wash over you everywhere you go.

Thanks to all our friends who made there way into the city to hear our little set (even if you just turned up at the end).  Fflur and I were very happy with the set, and it was a great boost to see all the people who stopped as they walked by.  It made me feel all warm insdie, like a hot chocolate.

Well, we're finally getting out of the practice room, and things are cooking.

Gigs

We've got a spot as part of the Fete de la Musique on Saturday in the Queens St Mall (12:30pm).  Check http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/BCC:BASE:1850166844:pc=PC_3072 for details.  It seems like a great festival and there should be music galore, so make a day of it.

We have also been booked for the Neurum Creek music festival.  It's a great accoustic festival out near Woodford in September.  Should be a hoot of a weekend, so get online and get yourself booked in (http://www.ncbr.com.au/)

EP

Well the recording and final mixing of the EP has come and gone.  We are booked to master it next week.  What's mastering, well they refer to it as a wonder bra for music (it lifts and seperates).  Still working on the CD art and have to print yet, but it's on track to happen before September.

Current mood:  ecstatic
Category: Music

Well, 36 hours of studio time in three days.  We may be tired, but absolutely ecstatic about the result.

Airlock is a fantastic location.  Set amongst scrubland at Camp Mountain. It's a great relaxed environment.  While I am giving out platitudes, Emerson is fantastic.  He gets awesome sounds, has great suggestions and can work wonders with his "magic fingers".

A huge thank you to Roz Papalardo, for her enthusiasm, wisdom, laughs, harmonica and claps.  She made our first recording experience go so smooth.

Some of my highlights of recording:

The Dance breaking all speed records for a 6/8 time song
The introduction of the Travelling Wilburys to the end of Horse Your Rode in on (including Simone actually singing!!!)
Recording the guitar for "In Your Eyes" while wearing a tea towel over my face.
The wonderful random words that appear when you play lyrics backwards.
Using Powderfinger's guitar rack to store my guitars.

At the moment we only have the rough mix.  We will get the proper mix on Thursday.  We are already happy with the rough mix, so we can't wait to hear what Mr Magic fingers can do with extra time.

Hopefully we will have the songs up here by the end of the week.

Current mood:  excited

Sans Grenadine are all very exicted, we are recording our EP this weekend.  Three days at airlock studios, with Roz Popalardo producing and Emerson mixing.  Our first big excursion into the recording world, and I'm having trouble getting to sleep.

The track list for the EP is:  Horse you rode in on, Butterfly, In your eyes, The dance, Cupid tatoo (tapping song), Falling for you.

Send positive vibes for this weekend.
