i dont usually post much in this section. partly because im somewhat reclusive and partly beacause my life isnt as interesting as i would like it to be, making writing about worthwhile happenings a little bit difficult. but i have had something on my mind for the past few months... and like the title says, its has to do with being a musician and wanting to do this for life (well i dont really consider myself a musician, but hear me out).

i love making music. a lot. i would rather be doing that than anything else. some people think im antsy or have ADD or something... not the case. i just cant sit around and chill when i have ideas running around in my head. id like to see everything that i do succeed. the problem that i am seeing is that fewer and fewer people seem to be interested in that real stuff... it seems that music isnt valued much as it used to be because 1)everyone and their grandma is making music and 2) it hurts to see people selling a song for a dollar.

last night, my friends and i did our monthly grand groove party at jazid. i try to promote this thing wherever i go. i was a bit disappointed at the turnout.... actually very disappointed. granted it was monday night and the same night as the tribe called quest show. i still thought, from the amount of promotion i did personally, we would have a better turnout. i cant imagine that all the folks that check for us on the regular were at the show. regardless, it just had me thinking about the effort that is put into these nights with the somewhat feeble results. i wont tell you how much i got paid, but i will say that the love for what i do kept me from not quittin. we all have our off nights. this i understand. but it just seems that the off nights continue to occur more often than not. my stubborness prevents me from quitting altogether.

im sure there are about 357,912 complaints just like mine posted this morning on this expanding universe called the internet. im a bit tired of holding things in and this journal really wasnt my first choice of an avenue to "let it all out".

oh yeah. a big thanks to the bartender for extending her appreciation for what we did. the "thank you"s are few and far between but are always appreciated.

Here are some early pics from the party at the Flamingo i djed. The party was bangin. About 400-500+ folks came through. Bacardi, Budweiser, and Rockstar sponsored it, so free food and drink all day. Oh yeah, there was a dope bikini contest. Shorty who won was ridiculous.
