Hello Guys & Gals,
Here, for your enjoyment, are two new music videos.
Additionally, I have provided some background/contextual information so that
these little clips can truly be savored!
Hope you enjoy :)
The first: The "Isn't It Lovely" video was shot
on location at the New Hazlett Theatre in downtown Pittsburgh, PA on the set of
Attack Theatre's "Passion Reflected." It was directed by Matt Karam
and Edited by Sterling Scott. http://www.attacktheatre.com/productions/#passion
The second: Here is a video of me playing "I Can't
Fix Us Two" live in Paris! It is directed by my good pal, Jeremy Herman.
Whilst we were filming the “Kaleidoscope Machine” music video, the frequent
Paris rain kept us stranded inside. The rain attempted to quench our creative
motives, but to no avail! With some free time on our hands, we made this :)

Sincerely, Katie Costello

Current mood: accomplished
Greetings fellow humans of the universe,
Since the very beginning of time, October has been a time to: extend one's sweater collection, curl up by the fireplace with a mug of pumpkin and/or apple cider, wear suggestive and revealing costumes, encourage strangers of all ages to traffic potentially poisonous/drug-infused candy, and lastly to extreme roller skate amidst a thunderous and hazardous storm! Okay... The last one I made up, but the rest definitely happen.
Once perceived as a sincere impossibility... October just got better! For the entire month of October I, Katie Costello, and an extremely talented comrade of mine, Joey Ryan will perform at the Hotel Cafe! We will play every Thursday night - one of us at 8pm, the other at 9pm. We aim to make every night as special, exhilarating, and sweater-honoring as October itself.
We will both be playing with full bands - full of attractive people. Seriously, our bands are SO attractive. Anyways... Come check it out!
Spread the word, bring friends, make friends, etc. Love will be lost, love will be found, friendships discovered and tested! I don't know if I can make this more melodramatic!
Hope to see you all there :)
OCTOBER 1 OCTOBER 8 OCTOBER 15 OCTOBER 22 OCTOBER 29
Sincerely yours, Katie Costello

Sonicbids Spotlight: Katie Costello Jan 23, 2009 Story by: Joe Puglisi
This week, the Sonicbids Spotlight is on a little girl with big potential from Hermosa Beach, California. Heir to the happy-go-plucky pop throne of Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles (with a voice to match), Katie Costello matches her contemporaries with pleasant atmospheres and a delightfully quirky aesthetic. The self-proclaimed kazoo virtuoso cites jazz and folk as two big influences. And clocking in at just seventeen years old, the songs are surprisingly mature too.
Costello's first record, Kaleidoscope Machine, was independently released last November and featured a catchy song of the same name which made it's way to a spot on the CW's 90210 revamp. Costello will be cutting school for the next two months to tour the US, where her sun-soaked songs will hopefully help warm the colder corners of the country. Kaleidoscope Machine is available now on iTunes. Kazoo lessons not included.
Tour Dates For Katie Costello: 02/05 - Hermosa Beach, CA - Cafe Boogaloo 02/13 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/14 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/16 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/17 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/18 - Memphis, TN - Folk Alliance 02/19 - Memphis, TN - Folk Alliance 02/20 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/21 - Pittsburgh, PA - New Hazlett Theater 02/24 - New York, New York - The Living Room 02/14 - Los Angeles, CA - Hotel Cafe 02/21 - Austin, TX - SOHO Lounge (SXSW)

so... i'm not necessarily sure what this blog intends to accomplish... or even if there is a goal in mind... but i am feeling a desperate need to write.
throughout our entire course of existence, i believe we ebb and flow in and out of moments where our own lives and the lives around us seem so ridiculously chaotic, that it becomes nearly impossible to reach any sort of self or world understanding. perhaps i’ve ebbed into that state of being…
these are the things i know as of right now:
1.) i have finally settled myself in my new apartment in the east village, and am so ridiculously happy. it feels entirely unnatural. whenever i feel a sense of uncontained joy, i’m under the assumption that the happiness is temporary (which it is)… but that in consequence, i am going to spontaneously combust or die tragically. i mean… if that’s not the perspective of a dejected, lonely, sappy, gloomy-woman, than i don’t know what is… no i joke... but not really... ha...
2.) virginia woolf is distorting my perception of reality. yes, i said it. virginia woolf, dark and loony stream-of-consciousness writer of the modern era is turning my brain inside out. talking with friends last night... i realized why woolf is eating away at my brain and my knowledge of the literary world... virginia woolf has become associated, in my mind, with a number of scary images. a) i had a nightmare about her where she was one of those demon-grandma-creatures from the movie 'the darkness.' i don't know... it was weird. b) although it is entirely unassociated with her as an author, the play 'who's afraid of virginia woolf' by edward albee is extremely sinister and emotionally frightening. c) her writing style makes my mind convulse with confusion. sometimes in a good way. sometimes not. only adds to the overall emotional complexity i feel for virginia woolf.
3.) i am in a bind trying to finish my first semester of school. i need to finish everything by february... and it is becoming increasingly problematic. i'm feeling a little bit lost... in my once fire-y academic objectives...
4.) my bank is consistently under the impression that my social security number is fraudulent. i mean, really?
anyways... this blog has been immensely therapeutic. hopefully, it isn't nonsensical enough to then be worthless. i'm sure there are parallels... as life-confusion, virginia woolf, school, and the bank are things that consistently shake our worlds. time will pass, things will fade (indifferently, of course), and all will be at peace again. that is one thing i am sure. until then... i will be ingesting large amounts of caffeine, attempting to wrap my head around other turn-of -the-century authors, and the always-heartwarming world of macroeconomics. over and out!
yours truly, katie costello
