Byrd, Perry, Livingston, Shackleton, Scott (okay, maybe not Robert Scott), and Crooked Crow.
What do all these intrepid icons have in common? Why, forging on into the unknown, to places they've never been! In our case, we're not heading into the deepest jungles of the Congo, or to the poles—because, really, we've already been (nearly) to the north pole, and once you've seen one, do you really need to go to the other? No, this audacious band of musicians is charting new territory in the great city of Washington DC. Believe it or not, in our eight years of playing shows around the area we've never quite crossed the river into DC. I know, I'm just as shocked as you are! We've been around it quite a bit, playing suburban Maryland and Virginia, central New Jersey, (and of course, Greenland) but until now, DC has remained a blank spot on our map.
No more, we say! Crooked Crow is now booking shows at proper concert venues in our Nation's capitol. As we continue promoting our latest CD, playing all-original shows, we've decided the time has come to step up our game and put forth the effort to reach as many people as we possibly can and expand our fanbase. To this end, we have booked our very first Washington DC show for this Friday, Sept. 19th.
We will be playing at the Red and Black Bar, on H St. NE. Crooked Crow will be opening the show, and will start playing at 9:00 PM. We'll be rocking out a set of our original material, some you've heard before—other songs new to nearly everyone! Following our set, other local bands The Invisibles, Aggromatic, and Eat It Raw will be finishing out the night. I've been checking out their stuff online (links at the bottom), and I must say I'm looking forward to hearing them play as well!
We are really counting on you—the Crooked Crow flock—to show your support and come out and see the show. Our goal is to continue playing venues like the Red and Black Bar, DC9, the Rock and Roll Hotel, the Black Cat, and—of course—the 9:30 club. We can't do it without you, the fans! The more of you that come see us play, the bigger and better the venues will get!

Before I go, I want to thank everyone that made the trek up from Virginia and all our friends from the New Jersey area who came out to our show at The Saint on Saturday night. We had a great time, played an awesome show, and Scott (the owner) has asked us to come back again sometime before the end of the year. Stay tuned for details!
Cheers! --Jamie Rasmussen
